The Armenian Community Coalition endorsed the Pasadena City Council
Member on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Pasadena City Council Member Chris Holden picked up the endorsement of
the Armenian Community Coalition on Thursday in his bid to represent
Sierra Madre and other nearby communities in the newly redrawn State
Assembly district.

The group announced their endorsement of Holden while pointing to
an underrepresentation for Armenians in local and state government,
the Pasadena Star-News reported Sunday.

Holden is vying to replace Assemblyman Tim Donnelly in representing
the area which, following recent redistricting, no longer includes
Donnelly’s hometown of Twin Peaks, CA.

The new district, as drawn and approved by the California Citizen’s
Redistricting Committee, covers an area including Sierra Madre,
Altadena, Pasadena, South Pasadena and Monrovia, as well as a group of
cities in eastern Los Angeles County that are geographically linked to
the western cities only through the Angeles National Forest including
San Dimas, parts of Claremont and La Verne and Upland.

TER-PETROSYAN SAYS HE IS SURE TOILETS WEREN’T CLOSED UPON PRESIDENT’S ORDER

Tert.am

Leader of the opposition alliance Armenian National Congress (HAK)
Levon Ter-Petrosyan has said he is sure that toilets near the Liberty
Square have not been closed upon president’s instruction.

Addressing his supporters on Liberty Square, Ter-Petrosyan said that
on the first day they raised the issue to the Yerevan Municipality,
the police and were told that there was a misunderstanding and that
the problem would be resolved – but yet to no avail.

“I am sure that the blockade of all roads to Yerevan is being
implemented upon Serzh Sargsyan’s order, that all the cafes [near
the Opera House] have been closed upon Serzh Sargsyan’s order,”
said Ter-Petrosyan.

“Whether you believe or not, I do not believe that the toilets have
been closed by Serzh Sargsyan’s order,” said he, adding that he is
now asking the president to open the toilets.

“Serzh, prove the people that you can solve at least one issue.

Otherwise it is shameful, we are becoming laughing stock for the
entire world,” Ter-Petrosyan added.

for Armenia’s political life.

important issues discussed. As Sharmazanov noted, during the meeting,
French President welcomed the changes occurring in Armenia, as well as

Erdogan Decides To Support Azerbaijani Opposition

ERDOGAN DECIDES TO SUPPORT AZERBAIJANI OPPOSITION

ARMENPRESS
OCTOBER 4, 2011
BAKU

There are serious changes in the attitude of Turkish Prime Minister,
leader of Justice and Development Party Recep Tayyip Erdogan toward
the Azerbaijani opposition. Erdogan has decided to be also beside
the Azerbaijani opposition hereafter.

As Armenpress reports, according to the source provided information
to the Azerbaijani “Poligon” news agency, Erdogan’s attitude toward
the opposition is conditioned by the processes running in the region,
especially by the position of Washington toward Azerbaijan.

“Turkey has never conducted an independent foreign policy. Its latest
vivid proof is Syria, when at first Erdogan promised brotherly
relations to Bashar Assad, and then by the demand of Washington,
started prosecuting him. The same is happening toward Azerbaijan.

Today Ankara’s profits coincide with that of Washington in many
issues. That is why it is possible that awakening will be felt in
the nearest future in the Azerbaijani opposition,” the source of the
agency reads, stressing that the moral and material support expected
from Turkey and especially Erdogan administration, may change a
lot of things in Azerbaijan, as the calls addressed to Baku by the
White House, may have much weaker influence than a small statement
by Erdogan.

Jeudi 29 septembre 2011

STRASBOURG – Anatolia News Agency
