No Major Pileup Of Armenian Freight Cars In Georgian Ports

NO MAJOR PILEUP OF ARMENIAN FREIGHT CARS IN GEORGIAN PORTS

ARKA
Sep 12, 2008

YEREVAN, September 12. /ARKA/. No major pileups have occurred in
Georgian ports so far, said Arsen Ghazaryan, chairman of the Union
of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA).

On August 16, an explosion downed a railway bridge near Gori-Tbilisi
line, disrupting exports to Armenia and leaving 72 car freights stuck
in the Georgian port.

Georgia offered a smaller rail bridge for restoring exports to Armenia
until the damaged bridge was repaired.

"Before the exploded bridge was repaired and reopened, the alternative
rail bridge linking Armenia and Georgia had been operating," Ghazaryan
said at a press conference.

The restored bridge will shorten Armenia-Georgia rail communication,
according to the UMBA Chairman.

"Freight cars arrive in Armenia according to schedule," Ghazaryan
added.

Armenia has suffered an estimated $680 million in damage to its
economy after the Russian-Georgian conflict, Representative Brad
Sherman said during the September 11 hearing of the U.S. House
Committee on Foreign Affairs.

implemented genocide.

The leader of Assyrians Federation Irina Gasparyan positively
assessed the recent visit of Turkish President Abdullah Gul to
Armenia at today’s press-conference in Tesaket discussion club and
called it the first step on the way of kind neighbouring relations
establishment. At the same time she said that ‘Turkey should say sorry
for its historical past, but it has to ripen for that’. The leader of
Greek public organizations of Armenia Arkadiy Hitarov also positively
assessed Turkish’s president’s visit to Armenia but added that the

say: ‘We are glad you have arrived, but don’t forget you have problems
with your historical past, and we did not forget it’. The leader of the

ArmInfo. By calling itself Beeline Company ArmenTel appropriates
the name of our company, says Hayk Khanjyan, President of Bi Line,
one of Armenia’s biggest IT companies.

The trade mark of ArmenTel sounds the same as the trade mark Bi Line
has used for over 12 years already.

This results in confusion and complaints by clients. Khanjyan believes
that ArmenTel is acting illegally. The Economic Court of Armenia has
considered Bi Line’s claim without its presence. The Court of Appeal
has dismissed Bi Line’s appeal. ‘It was a serious mistake. But since
such mistakes take place systematically we doubt that it was just a
coincidence. We have enough arguments in support of our suit and we
will struggle for our rights till the end. We have already appealed
to the European Court,’ says Khanjyan.

Meeting of Armenian and Turkish presidents will serve as a guideline
for foreign ministers

2008-09-06 20:21:00

ArmInfo. Today President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with President
of Turkey Abdullah Gul.

The press service of the President of Armenia reports that the foreign
ministers of the two states were present at the meeting. Sargsyan
thanked Gul for accepting his invitation and pointed out that
establishing contacts was the best way for Armenia and Turkey to
normalize their relations.

Gul invited Sargsyan to attend the Turkey-Armenia match in Istanbul.

Sargsyan and Gul discussed ways to normalize Armenian-Turkish
relations. They expressed commitment to solve the existing problems and
to establish an atmosphere of confidence and peace in the region. Gul
said that Sargsyan took the first step and he accepted his invitation
thereby turning that step into a joint initiative and, probably, an
example for the whole region.

Sargsyan said that once establishing a dialogue Armenia and Turkey
would be able to discuss any problems. "We must seek to solve our
urgent problems so as not to hand down this burden to the coming
generation," Sargsyan said. Sargsyan and Gul discussed Turkey’s
initiative to form a Caucasian platform of stability and security.
Sargsyan pointed out that Armenia had always advocated dialogue and
mutual confidence in the region. He noted that Turkey’s initiative was
a step aimed at creating a favorable atmosphere in the region. The
presidents pointed out that their meeting was a serious signal for
further dialogue and a guideline for the foreign ministers of the two
states.

After the meeting the presidents continued their talks during an
official supper.
