"We present a rigorous analysis of the Landau-Zener linear-in-time
term crossing problem for quadratic-nonlinear systems relevant to the
coherent association of ultracold atoms in degenerate quantum gases.

Our treatment is based on an exact third-order nonlinear differential
equation for the molecular state probability," scientists in Armenia
report.

"Applying a variational two-term ansatz, we construct a simple
approximation that accurately describes the whole-time dynamics of
the coupled atom-molecular system for any set of involved parameters.

Ensuring an absolute error of less than 10(-5) for the final transition
probability, the resultant solution improves by several orders of
magnitude the accuracy of the previous approximations by A Ishkhanyan
et al developed separately for the weak coupling (2005 J.

Phys. A: Math. Gen. 38 3505) and strong interaction (2006 J. Phys. A:
Math. Gen. 39 14887) limits. In addition, the constructed approximation
covers the whole moderate-coupling regime, providing this intermediate
regime with the same accuracy as the two mentioned limits. The obtained
results reveal the remarkable observation, that for the strong-coupling
limit the resonance crossing is mostly governed by the nonlinearity,
while the coherent atom-molecular oscillations arising soon after
the resonance has been crossed are basically of a linear nature,"
wrote A. Ishkhanyan and colleagues.

The researchers concluded: "This observation is supposed to
be of a general character, due to the basic attributes of the
resonance-crossing processes in the nonlinear quantum systems of the
discussed type of involved quadratic nonlinearity."

Ishkhanyan and colleagues published their study in the Journal of
Physics B – Atomic Molecular and Optical Physics (Variational ansatz
for the nonlinear Landau-Zener problem for cold atom association.

A new programme for Armenian University Graduates will be launched
in 2010 in order to give them an opportunity to become directly
acquainted with the EU policies and best practices.

On February 2, Mr. Artur Baghdasaryan, Secretary of the National
Security Council, Ambassador Raul de Luzenberger, Head of the
EU Delegation to Armenia and Ms. Dafina Gercheva, UNDP Resident
Representative in Armenia signed the Agreement for placement of
trainees with the EU Advisory Group to the Republic of Armenia.

The Programme allows young graduates to work closely with the EU
Advisors in respective fields of their activities such as trade,
customs, public administration reform, public debt or human rights.

Trainees will have a unique opportunity to learn about European and
international standards to be applied in Armenia, and thus become
junior experts with skills and knowledge highly desirable in the
labour market of Armenia.

An independent selection committee will be established to conduct the
interviews and decide on the selection of trainees. An open competition
shall be announced once a year. Selected trainees will be placed for
one year and receive a monthly contribution to their living expenses.

Robert Fisk: Israel can no longer ignore the existence of the first

Robert Fisk: Israel can no longer ignore the existence of the first Holocaust
30.01.2010 16:57 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Israelis commemorated the second Holocaust of the
20th century this week, Jan. 27, but the Armenians were not
participating in official ceremonies, says an article published in
British Independent.

That’s perhaps because Israel officially refuses to acknowledge that
Armenia’s million and a half dead of 1915-1923 were victims of a
Turkish Holocaust, according to Robert Fisk, the author of the
publication.

Israeli-Turkish diplomatic and military relations are more important
than genocide, he further notes.

The authors quotes the words of George Hintlian, historian and
prominent member of Jerusalem’s 2,000-strong Armenian community in
Jerusalem who said, `Maybe they don’t like it that there was another
genocide. These are things we can’t explain."
"For three decades, no documentary on the Armenian Genocide could be
shown on Israeli television because it would offend the Turks. Then
suddenly last year, important Israelis demanded that a documentary be
shown. Thirty Knesset members supported us. We always had Yossi Sarid
of Peace Now but now we’ve got right-wing Israelis," said the
historian.

George Hintlian turned up on Israeli television with Danny Ayalon –
the foreign office minister who humiliated the Turkish ambassador by
forcing him to sit on a sofa below him – and Knesset speaker Reuven
Rivlin who said that Israel should commemorate the Armenian genocide
"every year".
Proceeding with his publication, the British analyst further states
that the Israeli press now calls the Armenian genocide a "Shoah" – the
same word all Israelis use for the Jewish Holocaust.

"Let us assume that Turkey will renew its ties with Israel. Then what?
What then? Will we also renew our contribution to the denial of the
Armenian Holocaust?" he asks in clunclusion.

The Armenian GenocideM (1915-23) was the deliberate and systematic
destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during
and just after World War I. It was characterized by massacres, and
deportations involving forced marches under conditions designed to
lead to the death of the deportees, with the total number of deaths
reaching 1.5 million.

The date of the onset of the genocide is conventionally held to be
April 24, 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities arrested some 250
Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople.
Thereafter, the Ottoman military uprooted Armenians from their homes
and forced them to march for hundreds of miles, depriving them of food
and water, to the desert of what is now Syria. Massacres were
indiscriminate of age or gender, with rape and other sexual abuse
commonplace.

To date, twenty countries and 44 U.S. states have officially
recognized the events of the period as genocide, and most genocide
scholars and historians accept this view. The Armenian Genocide has
been also recognized by influential media including The New York
Times, BBC, The Washington Post and The Associated Press.

The majority of Armenian Diaspora communities were formed by the
Genocide survivors.

Holocaust also known as The Shoah is the term generally used to
describe the genocide of approximately six million European Jewsduring
World War II, a programme of systematic state-sponsored extermination
by Nazi Germany.
The persecution and genocide were carried out in stages. Legislation
to remove the Jews from civil society was enacted years before the
outbreak of World War II. Concentration camps were established in
which inmates were used as slave labor until they died of exhaustion
or disease. Where the Third Reichconquered new territory in eastern
Europe, specialized units called Einsatzgruppen murdered Jews and
political opponents in mass shootings. Jews and Romani were confined
in overcrowded ghettos before being transported by freight train to
extermination camps where, if they survived the journey, the majority
of them were killed in gas chambers. Every arm of Nazi Germany’s
bureaucracy was involved in the logistics of the mass murder, turning
the country into what one Holocaust scholar has called "a genocidal
state"

According to Arayik Vardanyan, this year, the RA Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (CCI) will organize two trade fairs featuring products
from India. In addition, there are plans to showcase Armenian products
in Riga and Haleb.

Furthermore, the CCI representative noted that those doing business
in Armenian provinces (marzes) are lacking information and are often
unaware of what their colleagues from neighbouring provinces are
producing. Thus, Vardanyan noted, a number of exhibits and fairs to
take place in the provinces are in the works; in particular, in the
provinces of Lori, Armavir, Shirak, Syunik, and Vayots Dzor.

Relatives Set Out Demands To PACE

RELATIVES SET OUT DEMANDS TO PACE

As reported earlier today, RA Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan
has removed Heritage Party member Zaruhy Bostanjyan from the list
of permanent members of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Relatives of the victims of the March 1st events today staged a
protest action near the Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe in
support of Zaruhy Postanjyan.

They protested against the NA Speaker’s decision finding it illegal
and inhuman.

"Zaruhy Postanjyan was the only person who represented our interests in
the Parliamentary Assembly. We apply to PACE leadership to annul the
decision and restore Zaruhy Postanjyan’s rights in the delegation,"
said the protesters.

"Two years have passed since the deadly clashes of March 1 but the
murderers of our children are still in freedom. The authorities
only care for concealing the real perpetrators. By removing Zaruhy
Postanjyan from the delegation the authorities aim to putty the
assassinations. We do not confide in Armen Rustamyan who has never
raised our concerns in the Assembly," Sargis Kloyan, the father of
deceased Gor Kloyan, told A1+.

"I think that PACE will be consecutive in the disclosure of the
events," said the mother of deceased David Petrosyan, Jemma Vardumyan.

"The authorities could have disclosed the murders within these two
years if they wished to. How can we trust Armen Rustamyan, head of
the Armenian delegation to PACE, if he never presented our complaints
to PACE? Dashnaktsutyun hasn’t even condoled with us over the decease
of our sons," said Robert Harutyunyan.

The protesters were also indignant at Hovik Abrahamyan’s statement that
"the page of March 1 was closed."

"If his son were killed, would he make such a statement? I think he
would put the whole nation to the sword. None of the authorities
cares for our people, they only care for their chairs," said Rima
Khachatryan.

Though Hovik Abrahamyan had ordered not to finance Mrs. Postanjyan’s
travel to Strasbourg, the latter left for Strasbourg today with the
financial support of PACE.

One of the more well-known players in Hatis Yerevan women’s basketball
team is Milica Dabovic, who was born in Cetinje, Montenegro, and,
according to her profile on Eurobasket Women official site, `The
27-year-old player is clearly the most experienced of the Serbian
national team.’

Prior to leaving Yerevan, Dabovic took a moment to speak with local
sports newspaper 90 Rope (`90 Minutes’).

`I think, I will return to Armenia after 6 months. Right now, I’m off
to Cetinje. In the near future, I will temporary play for another
team; going to the U.S. is a possibility. But I will plan everything
so that I will return to Hatis. I really want to participate in the
next EuroCup Women as part of Hatis’ team. It’s possible that, for
now, I will play in Serbia’s team, though that depends on who’s the
coach,’ said Milica.

The model-turned-basketball player has also played on Istanbul’s
Besiktas team.

9400 job seekers found jobs from which 24.7% is youth.

Among the employment programs she mentioned the program of compensation
of salaries to the employers, program of state registration
for entrepreneurial activity and employment of uncompetitive
categories. Program of professional education of 1545 people was
implemented instead of envisaged 1467. The program of compensation
of salaries to the employers made 229 people instead of envisaged 200.

By the program of temporary employment in 2009, 4960 people found
jobs. In the program of state registration for entrepreneurial activity
104 private entrepreneurs were registered, from which 54 were women,
mainly from the regions. As of December 31, 2009 unemployment level
in Armenia was 7.1% which is by 0.8% more the indicator of 2008.

In 2009 the number of job seekers in Armenia exceeded 99.3 thousand,
84.4 thousand of which received status of unemployed. The majority
are women and about 21% – youth.
