Asbarez: Pashinyan Says Aliyev Meeting was ‘Simply an Exchange of Ideas’

Prime Minister Nikol Pashnyan with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Davos Switzerland on Jan. 22

YEREVAN—A day after holding what is being called an “informal meeting” with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Davos, Switzerland, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said there were no deals struck between the two about a resolution to the ongoing Karabakh conflict.

In a Facebook Live post on Wednesday, Pashinyan explained that during his meeting with Aliyev on Thursday, as well as at the two previous ones held in December and September, the two leaders discussed the history of the Karabakh negotiations process.

“We have also discussed the possibilities, as well as the conditions that exist for a resolution [to the conflict],” said Pashinyan.

“We haven’t discussed any specific details, we simply exchanged ideas. To a certain extent this is also a chance for exchange of ideas and mutual familiarization with perceptions about the negotiations process. I would like to emphasize that the main focus of all the discussions has been what we have spoken about publicly,” explained Pashinyan, who said the meeting with Aliyev was not planned.

“We simply used this event. It just happened. I simply find it very important to note – it just happened,” said Pashinyan explaining that the organizers of the World Economic Forum, which had brought both leaders to Davos, asked them whether they would mind talking and the two agreed.
“The basis of this meeting was an agreement that in general, if we happen to be in the same place, at least we won’t avoid any contact,” said Pashinyan.

Official Stepanakert welcomed Tuesday’s meeting with Artsakh presidential spokesperson David Babayan calling it another opportunity to keep the continuity of the negotiation process for the Nagorno-Krabakh conflict resolution process.

“Artsakh has always welcomed any such meetings in a sense that they maintain the continuity of the negotiation process and contribute to the preservation of stability and peace in the region. We don’t imagine that any anti-Artsakh decision can be made [during such meetings],” Babayan said.

“The fact that they would meet was predictable because they both were participating in the same event. But as for what issues have been discussed, it’s impossible to talk about the comprehensive resolution of the conflict at this moment. First of all, the complete format of the negotiations with the participation of Stepanakert has not been restored. And also Azerbaijan has not changed its revanchist, Armenophobic positions yet,” added Babayan.

Entertainment: Armenian ex-assistant of Mariah Carey counter-suing the star

PanArmenian, Armenia
Jan 18 2019

PanARMENIAN.Net – Hours after news broke that singer Mariah Carey had filed a $3 million suit against her former executive assistant, Lianna Shakhnazaryan, for violating their non-disclosure agreement, the ex-employee fired back with a lengthy lawsuit of her own. She accused Carey, and her former manager, Stella Bulochnikov, for a litany of alleged claims, including derogatory comments regarding her Armenian heritage, AOL reports.

The former personal assistant alleges that she was “subjected to severe, pervasive, sexual, derogatory, offensive, physically abusive and outrageous conduct by [Bulochnikov],” allegedly including being referred to as “a f**king Armenian whore,” among other racially charged insults.

Shakhnazaryan claims she was also subjected to “acts of physical abuse” including the “slapping of [her] buttocks and breasts,” as well as allegedly being tackled to the ground by Bulochnikov and “urinated upon in the presence of others on multiple occasions.”

The documents also accuse Bulochnikov of making repeated offensive sexual and derogatory comments regarding her Armenian heritage, and repeated ridicule directed toward Shakhnazaryan’s physical appearance.

The assistant claims Carey “had knowledge of the [conduct], as much of such improper conduct was carried out against [Shakhnazaryan] with Carey’s knowledge, permission and/or in Carey’s presence.”

The shocking allegations made in her suit come following Carey’s own lawsuit, in which Shakhnazaryan is accused of being “a grifter, a Peeping Tom and an extortionist.”

Carey’s lawsuit alleges that Shakhnazaryan secretly filmed her without her knowledge or permission, which if revealed would be personally embarrassing and professionally damaging to her.

Carey’s lawsuit also alleges Shakhnazaryan displayed the intimate videos for her friends and co-workers, then “threatened to release the videos, and other sensitive, private information, unless Mariah provided her $8,000,000,” adding that Shakhnazaryan had allegedly been blackmailing the singer.

YEREVAN, JANUARY 10, ARMENPRESS. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan attaches importance to ensuring high-quality education for orphanage children, reports Armenpress.

During today’s Cabinet meeting Pashinyan was interested in what is the state’s obligation to children who left the orphanage.

In response deputy minister of labor and social affairs Arsen Manukyan said this is their most painful issue. “Until 2013 we had an obligation to provide them with an apartment, and there are 221 children in our list, towards whom this obligation has not been implemented, but 167 people have been provided with apartments in different provincs. One of our tasks must be what package we should offer them after they turn 18 years old”, he said.

He said that after 2013 a social place of residence is provided, but, unfortunately, the social housing fund is completely used at the moment.

Pashinyan asked whether the state provides proper education to the orphanage kids.

Arsen Manukyan said there are problems here.

Nikol Pashinyan in his turn noted: “Although it’s not a matter of choice, but if you ask my opinion, ensuring education for them is more important rather than providing any material thing. Our policy should be that they must receive proper education. The ministries must cooperate in the future so that we can propose new solutions here”.
