"No Need To Beat Down Doors To Raise Money For Armenian Army"

“NO NEED TO BEAT DOWN DOORS TO RAISE MONEY FOR ARMENIAN ARMY”

During a campaign meeting with Masis residents today, the presidential
candidate Serzh Sargsyan answered questions about recognition of the
Armenian Genocide by Turkey. He said: “I don’t think we should lay our
hopes only on the 100th anniversary of the Genocide. Of course, it is
an important anniversary, but it does not mean that if prior to the
100th anniversary Turkey does not recognize the Armenian Genocide, we
should give way to despair. We must not stop struggling for the
international recognition of the Genocide”.

One resident of Masis suggested that a fund be set up and its money be
allocated for the rearmament of the Armenian army.

Serzh Sargsyan replied that they accept the help provided to the
Republic of Armenia and the army, but considerable expenditures are
now incurred to maintain the Armenian army so it is impossible to
solve armament problems through fundraising only.

“I think there is no need to beat down doors and ask people to give
money for the Armenian army. It would be an incorrect step,” Sargsyan
noted.

In conclusion, the presidential candidate addressed Masis residents,
saying: “We should hold the best elections on February 18. Each vote
is of importance to us, each vote will make us stronger!”

Israel Is Not Ready To Recognize Armenian Genocide Yet

ISRAEL IS NOT READY TO RECOGNIZE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE YET

25 Á×CÕÓÔÁ 2011 | Alexander Tsinker

“I want to note that there have always been forces in Israel which
claimed Armenian Genocide must be recognized. I am sure that Jewish
nation who has endured Holocaust now has no right to ignore the
tragedy of another nation. But my personal attitude and official
attitude of Israel are quite different cases. It was and remains
unchanged.

According to Israel two nations (Armenians and Turks) must get a joint
consensus on 1915 bloody events and Israel will accept that consensus”
head of the Institute of Eastern Europe and CIS countries Alexander
Tsinker (Tel-Aviv, Israel) told Times.am reporter while answering to
the question about Israeli attitude towards Armenian Genocide
recognition and Turkish reaction on it.

“When relations with Turkey become frozen some newspapers announced
that Armenian Genocide must be accepted as an answer to anti-Israeli
actions in Ankara. But no one serious Israeli politician, no one
important public activist has not supported such publications and all
these announcements remained just announcements. And I think it was
right. This issue is too gentle and serious to make it a measure for
making pressure on somebody” our speaker continued.

“I can tell long how 1915 events are described in Israel and why they
do not recognize Armenian Genocide. It is another theme and is very
complicated one. Now I will just say one thing: Israeli political
elite and society have not reached to the point to be able to make
that step. And I think they will not reach it for a long time yet. But
this never means that me and other partisans must wait and do not do
anything. No, we continue making influence on Israeli society and
prepare it for the recognition of Armenian Genocide”.

Azerbaijan Will Not Destroy Armenian Civil Aircrafts?

AZERBAIJAN WILL NOT DESTROY ARMENIAN CIVIL AIRCRAFTS?

February 04, 2013 | 13:24

Official Baku will not permit Armenia to conduct civil aviation
flights over the air space of “occupied” Nagorno-Karabakh, but it
will do this without the use of military means, Azerbaijan’s Deputy
Foreign Minister Araz Azimov stated, the Azerbaijani media report.

“The Azerbaijani side will not permit illegal flights over its air
space. [But,] on the other hand, Azerbaijan certainly is not preparing
to destroy civil aircrafts.” Azimov said this to news reporters Monday,
commenting on Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary General
Nikolay Bordyuzha’s statement-during his recent visit to Armenia and in
response to the question posed by Armenian News-NEWS.am-that he does
not consider serious the chances of Azerbaijan downing the Armenian
civil aircrafts, if they fly to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic capital
city Stepanakert airport.

Azimov noted that the Convention on International Civil Aviation-also
known as the Chicago Convention-has corresponding rules, which
Azerbaijan likewise has accepted.

“They are the rules for intercepting a plane on the air, to prevent
any unlawful flight. That is why it is incorrect when someone attempts
to manipulate whether or not Azerbaijan will attack civil objects.

Bordyuzha could be joking. I do not know him personally and cannot
say anything about his character. I was not beside him [when he said
that], and therefore I do not know under what circumstances he said
that. That is why we can consider such statement as a mere rough joke,”
the Azerbaijani deputy FM said.

Armenian Keyboard In Ios Devices Is In Our Common Interests – Educat

ARMENIAN KEYBOARD IN IOS DEVICES IS IN OUR COMMON INTERESTS – EDUCATION MINISTER TO APPLE CEO

14:55 ~U 01.02.13

Armenia’s minister of education and science has asked the Apple CEO
for his company’s efforts to launch an Armenian language keyboard for
the iOS devices.

In a letter to Tim Cook, Armen Ashotyan praises the Apple devices’
role in learning processes, noting that their usage has become
increasingly widespread both in both Armenia and throughout the
Armenian Diaspora worldwide

“Apple’s mobile devices have become increasingly widespread both in
Armenia and throughout the Armenian Diaspora worldwide. Needless to
say how strongly Armenian students and schoolchildren favor iPhones
and iPads.

However, their usage by Armenians has some limitations, since the iOS
system has no Armenian keyboard. Nowadays, mobile devices –
particularly tablets – tend to become significant learning tools,
integrated into educational institutions. It is not desirable that
high-quality iPads, which can serve students and teachers in numerous
ways become less competitive than Android tablets only because they
provide no possibility to work, communicate, collaborate, and create
with them in the Armenian language.

I believe the installation of an Armenian keyboard in iOS is in our
common interests.

We are ready to provide our support to this matter,” reads Minister
Ashotyan’s letter.
