Losing Artsakh, We Will Lose Armenia And Endanger Europe’s Future: S

LOSING ARTSAKH, WE WILL LOSE ARMENIA AND ENDANGER EUROPE’S FUTURE: SLOVAKIAN NATIONAL COUNCIL FIRST PRESIDENT

13:05, 15 August, 2013

YEREVAN, AUGUST 15, ARMENPRESS: The Azerbaijan’s blacklist includes
from Slovakia the President of the Forum of Armenian Associations of
Europe (FAAE) and the President of the Armenian community of Slovakia
Ashot Grigoryan, as well as the First President of the Slovakian
National Council František Mikloško. As reported by Armenpress,
the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe touched upon this issue,
the press release of which says in particular:

“Years ago Ashot Grigoryan paid an official visit to Baku with high
ranking officials of Slovakia. Grigoryan has not planned the second
visit to Baku and considers it to be a loss of time. Today we would
like to talk about the book of FrantiÅ¡ek MikloÅ¡ko “Signs of the Time”
published in May 2013 in Bratislava.

František Mikloško included in the book two articles about Armenia
and Artsakh, where he expressed his admiration towards the Armenians
and especially those, who live in Nagorno Karabakh.

MikloÅ¡ko evaluates Armenia and the Armenian Church as the “lungs” of
the Eastern Europe, without which Europe would not have been Europe and
concentrates on the fact that the base of the 20th century’s genocides
was the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The author emphasizes clearly that
the Armenian Cause is considered to be the entire Europe’s issue,
as well as Slovakia’s.

According to FrantiÅ¡ek MikloÅ¡ko, the Europe’s Christian and cultural
values are seriously endangered and Europe is obliged to protect them
and the protection should be started from Artsakh. “Losing Artsakh,
we will lose Armenia and endanger the Europe’s future”, – this is the
credo of František Mikloško, which is expressed in his activities
of the latest years”.

As there are more than two million Armenians in Europe, forming
significant local communities in 26 different countries, the Forum of
Armenian Associations of Europe (FAAE) was founded in Geneva in 1998.

Its goal is to facilitate co-operation and solidarity among Armenian
communities in Europe in order to meet the changing needs of the
European Diaspora and to promote the interests of Armenia and
Karabakh. FAAE membership is open to any Armenian association in
Europe that has democratically elected representatives and which
agrees to adhere to the FAAE charter.

Included in the FAAE today are Armenian communities and organizations
from 18 countries of Eastern and Western Europe. The Forum is
pluralistic and deals with all issues of interest to its member
organizations, including international relations, human rights issues,
economic co-operation and cultural matters.

The Armenian Business Forum of Europe is organised in such a way
to respond to the needs of Armenian businessmen in Europe to meet,
discuss their common interests and create the necessary network of
contacts to their respective businesses. Representatives of the US
and Russian business communities are also present at these meetings.

Haut-Karabakh : Un Soldat Armenien Enleve Par Les Azeris

Azerbaijani Experts Assess Outcomes Of Putin’s Visit To Baku Negativ

AZERBAIJANI EXPERTS ASSESS OUTCOMES OF PUTIN’S VISIT TO BAKU NEGATIVELY

20:04 14/08/2013 ” REGION

The boom created before Putin’s arrival quickly vanished by the
end of the visit, says Azerbaijani political analyst Gabil Huseynli,
reports Azerbaijani news agency APA. Huseynli believes that Azerbaijan
had certain hopes with Russia in return for Azerbaijan’s promise to
certain compromises.

Political scientist Vafa Guluzade assumes that Russia could offer
Eurasian and Customs Union to Azerbaijan, however, “that decision
can cost too much for Azerbaijan.”

“Any union with Russia is designed for elections only. The government
wants Russia and its supporters to recognize the results of the past
elections. Russia wants us to let her put a rope around our neck for
that. It’s a tough choice,” the analyst notes and adds, “In any case,
it seems that no such decisions were made during Putin’s visit to
Azerbaijan,” reports the Minval.az.

The chairman of an opposition party “Musavat” Isa Gambar also thinks
that neither of the parties reached the desired outcomes at Putin’s
and Aliev’s meeting.

“Kremlin tries to engage Azerbaijan into its Eurasian projects,
while Baku seeks Moscow’s support for the pre-election period. I
think these were the questions discussed behind the closed doors,”
says the leader of Musavat party, Turan reports.

To the question whether Aliyev received Moscow’s support before
the elections or not, Gambar responded that “complete support is
impossible, as Ilham Aliyev doesn’t fulfill all demands of Moscow.”

Head of Petroleum Research Center of Azerbaijan Ilham Shaban commented
on the signing of the framework agreement between the parties for
a period of five years. The agreement supposes cooperation between
Rosneft and SOCAR in different directions.

Shaban explains that if foreign companies want to purchase assets
in Azerbaijan, they sign a framework agreement with SOCAR. “In
the meantime, parties prepare further commercial points for the
future agreement. If the points are negotiated among each other,
the contract is signed. The framework agreement loses its legal power
by the expiration of the term. To be brief, framework agreements are
legally not binding, there are no concrete agreements about specific
projects,” adds Shaban.

According to Turan agency, the head of Azerbaijani research center
“East-West” Arastun Orujlu believes that Putin didn’t achieve his
goals during the visit. “It can be supposed that the main aim was to
engage Azerbaijan into Eurasian and Customs Union, however the big
share of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade takes place with other countries
of the world. That’s why the given Union is unreal,” he said.
