BAKU:President Aliyev: Nagorno Karabakh Is The Historical Land Of Az

PRESIDENT ALIYEV: NAGORNO KARABAKH IS THE HISTORICAL LAND OF AZERBAIJAN

Fri 27 June 2014 03:41 GMT | 4:41 Local Time

Nagorno Karabakh is the native land of Azerbaijan, historical
Azerbaijani land.

The President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the
Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev spoke on June 26 at a joint operational
and tactical exercise of the Ministry of Defence, Internal Troops
of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and units and detachments of the
State Border Service held on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of
the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan,
APA reports.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijani territories are
still under occupation and the Azerbaijani people suffer from this
occupation: “For many years, the conflict does not find a solution.

Decisions and resolutions of international organizations are not
fulfilled. With respect us a policy of double standards is pursued. I
have repeatedly expressed my opinion about it. And today once again
I want to say that injustice manifested to us is unacceptable. There
are four UN Security Council resolutions that demand the unconditional
withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands. 20 years have
passed. None of them are fulfilled. The international community shows
an indifferent approach to it”.

“Unfortunately, the mediators involved in this issue, the OSCE Minsk
Group deal with increasing measures of mutual trust, rather than the
peaceful settlement of the conflict. Among the measures of mutual
trust is the withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands,
and negotiations should be conducted on the merits. Unfortunately,
the mediators make effort not to restore justice but to ensure that
there was no war. In this case, Azerbaijan pays and will pay even
more attention to army building, and if the talks fail, we will have
no other way”, said Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

The Azerbaijan President noted that Azerbaijan does not want war,
and the authorities are trying to resolve the issue peacefully:
“But, as we see, it has been 20 years that this question does not
find a solution. Forces trying to keep this issue in the “frozen”
state, unfortunately, reach their intentions, their goals. However,
we do not want to accept and will not accept this situation. We want
peace. But at the same time we want our lands, we want justice. Our
demands are justified. Our requirements are based on history,
international law and justice. Nagorno Karabakh is the native land of
Azerbaijan, historical Azerbaijani land. Azerbaijani people built the
infrastructure, established architectural works in Nagorno-Karabakh
and elsewhere, are currently under occupation. In Nagorno-Karabakh,
all place names, names of villages are Azerbaijani origin. This is
our historical land. It always has been so, and today and tomorrow it
will be so. The international community recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as
part of Azerbaijan. Nobody ever recognizes the self-proclaimed “Nagorno
Karabakh Republic”, and Azerbaijan will never allow the establishment
of the second fictitious Armenian state on its historical territory.

This is our principled position. We will not step back from this
position.”

According to the President, army building should play an important
role in addressing this issue: “Increasing currently Azerbaijani army
is a source of great danger to Armenia. They confess it. They admit
their defeat. Since their senior officials have repeatedly stated that
Armenia is not able to provide their own security. A country that is
unable to ensure their safety can not be considered independent. In
fact, this recognition is an admission of defeat. This confession is
a confession of impotence. They can not withstand us, they admit it.

Increasing today Azerbaijani army is the first factor to address
the issue. Even in terms of the ceasefire our growing army worries
Armenians. We all know, we accept operational information that the
Armenian army is in fear. We are fully seized the advantage on the
frontline. We fully control the situation at the contact line. But the
peace policy of the Azerbaijani state is the guarantor of stability
today. Neither side force can not be the guarantor of stability in
the region. Neither side force can not affect our will. ”

“We repeatedly hear from high tribunes, that the issue should be
resolved peacefully. But the decision to issue peacefully depends on
our will. We want to see the issue was resolved peacefully. Nobody
can affect our will, our politics. Let everyone know it. First of
all, let Armenia and mediators involved in this issue know that only
a peace-loving position of Azerbaijan is able to keep the situation
today in a peaceful environment in the cease-fire. But our patience
is not unlimited, “said the Supreme Commander.

Noting that today the advantage, gained an army on the frontline,
is already a reality, President Aliyev said the elation is observed
within the Azerbaijani society and army: “The Armenian army is
experiencing spiritual decline. Otherwise, only the first quarter of
40,000 Armenians would not leave their country forever. Armenia is
facing a severe demographic crisis. The main reason for this crisis
is their aggressive policies. They believe that they have seized the
advantage in the war. And where is the advantage? Armenian people
live in poverty. Armenia can be considered simply as an independent
country. But Armenia has lost its real independence. Because of what?

Because of its aggressive policy.

Azerbaijan pursues an independent policy. Azerbaijan is growing,
and is the center of power in the region. Our economic power has
transformed into a military power. We will continue to improve our
military capabilities and will continue to strengthen our principled
position at the negotiating table. The main source of our principled
position is the people of Azerbaijan, their willpower, Azerbaijani
army, an Azerbaijani soldier. I am sure that Azerbaijan will restore
its territorial integrity. We can do it today”.

Supreme Commander said that the teachings of professionalism
demonstrated by our technical capabilities, and increasing the observed
patriotic spirit in society create conditions for a speedy solution
to the question at any time by the military: “The enemy knows this
and so is fear. Yet we remain committed to negotiations. But I
want to say once again that our patience is running out, and the
Azerbaijani army is always ready to comply with the order of the
Supreme Commander, capable of it. Our main task is to restore our
territorial integrity. First of all, the occupied lands should be
released, Nagorno Karabakh – it is also our occupied land – should
get under the control of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani flag should be raised
in all the occupied cities, including Shusha, Khankendi. This is our
main task. We will fulfill it. Every day, every moment we are getting
closer to this goal. Today’s exercises demonstrate once again that we
are a step closer to this goal. Azerbaijan believes in its army, in
its state, based on its army. Azerbaijani state and Azerbaijani army
will protect their citizens. Glory Azerbaijani Army!”, the President
of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev said.

Ken Davitian Travels: Artists For Peace, Trip To Armenia With Hollyw

KEN DAVITIAN TRAVELS: ARTISTS FOR PEACE, TRIP TO ARMENIA WITH HOLLYWOOD FILM PARTNERS

Thursday, June 26th, 2014

Ken Davitian’s project with Artists for Peace about racism in soccer

BY ELISE KALFAYAN

Ken Davitian, a prolific Hollywood actor with roles in many popular
TV shows and award-winning films, is in Belgium the last week of
June to complete an Artists for Peace video, then heads to Armenia
to explore film projects.

In Belgium, Davitian is performing in “The Final Game,” an original
video project / collaboration of FMS Media and Artists for Peace. “The
idea was given to us by Flora Martirosyan, the Armenian opera star,
who sang at the Gibson Amphitheatre back in 2011 in an Artists for
Peace concert,” said Davitian. “I was the MC at that concert. Now,
Artists for Peace is producing a video against racism, in honor of
Flora and her son. It draws attention to racism experienced by soccer
players around the world. It will be released on YouTube this July
6 to coincide with the championship game of the World Cup.”

After the video shoot, Davitian heads to Armenia with his producing
partner Arsen Bagdasaryan from Hollywood Film Partners to scout
locations for their green-lit motion picture “Cloud Band.” The script
was written by Orange County attorney Leo Alexander and based on
his family’s true story of losing and trying to recover a family
heirloom carpet stolen by the Turks. “It’s a romantic comedy, based
on a true story, and it mixes in the story of the genocide along the
way,” said Davitian. “A carpet woven to celebrate the merging of two
families in a marriage was stolen, and surfaces 100 years later. The
great-grandson of genocide survivors tries to recover it, encounters
resistance for the carpet’s Turkish owner, but meets an Armenian girl
during his travels and falls in love. The script has been acquired
and developed, and we are now working out logistics, including whether
we can shoot exterior locations or the whole film in Armenia.”

“Orphans of the Genocide,” a major PBS documentary which featured the
work of Armenian orphans producing hand-made rugs, including the one
given to U.S. President Calvin Coolidge, was promoted and supported
by Davitian, and he cites the work as an inspiration for his current
project. “There’s a lot of discussion about the genocide in ‘Cloud
Band,'” said Davitian. “The owner of the carpet won’t sell it to
its original owners’ descendant because he doesn’t want to admit the
facts of the genocide. The movie’s aim is to show the parties should
be talking to each other.”

Davitian will arrive one week ahead of Yerevan’s Golden Apricot Film
Festival, set for mid-July. He has plans to do a few classes there
for film students, directors and producers. His goal is to introduce
the Hollywood film industry to Armenia, and to open the doors for
collaboration. “Along with preliminary location scouting, we want to
see if there is government support for projects like “Cloud Band,”
and other projects as well. We are prepared to do at least three
major projects, all of which are close to development.”

Hollywood Film Partners has also developed a business plan and is
talking to investors about building a major film studio in Armenia that
would start by producing two films per year, then build out to eight,
along with an accompanying theme park that would attract tourists
and employ many locals. “There are all kinds of products available to
buy now in Armenia. What the country needs is to put people to work,
and give them a sense of hope,” emphasizes Davitian.

“This is show business – movies wouldn’t be made if they didn’t make
money. Such projects in Armenia are an investment opportunity for
people who have the money!”

The Golden Apricot Film Festival has gained fame and popularity in
recent years and will help Davitian and his partners determine the
potential for international and cross-cultural alliance. Davitian
hopes to bring his passion for his craft to the country and serve as
Armenia’s ambassador to Hollywood. “With the 100th Anniversary of the
Armenian Genocide upon us, now more than ever it is important that
we tell our history. The ability of feature film-making allows us to
bring several components together in depicting the tragic events that
led to the massacre of over 1.5 million Armenians.”

POLICE: ARMENIAN CAPTIVE IN AZERBAIJAN WAS INJECTED WITH PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

NEWS | 27.06.14 | 11:20

A repatriated Armenian who died several weeks after being freed by
Azerbaijan had been subjected to torture while in captivity, the
Armenian police said, citing the results of a relevant examination.

Thus, according to a report, the examination of Mamikon Khojoyan’s
body revealed signs of petroleum products and psychotropic substances
that had been injected into him.

Khojoyan, 77, died on May 20, two and a half months after being
released by Azerbaijan. The resident of the village of Verin
Karmiraghbyur in Armenia’s Tavush province was taken prisoner by
Azerbaijani troops on January 28 after apparently losing his way in
the borderland zone. The man, who suffered from a mental disorder,
however, was presented as an Armenian ‘saboteur’.

After Khojoyan’s return his family suspected that in Azerbaijan they
injected diesel fuel into him.

RUSSIA INTERESTED IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Vestnik Kavkaza, Russia
June 26 2014

26 June 2014 – 7:27pm

Successful resolution of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict over
Nagorno-Karabakh would strengthen Russian-Azerbaijani ties and
contribute much to the implementation of Eurasian integration projects,
Russian presidential aide Sergey Glaziyev says, commenting on Russian
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to Baku.

Minister Lavrov visited Azerbaijan on June 18. The official met with
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and underlined that Azerbaijan is
Russia’s strategic partner.

“Azerbaijan is our traditional and very close partner. We work together
every day. We have established successful cooperation in the spheres
of culture, trade and in the humanitarian sphere,” Glaziyev says.

“Unfortunately, Azerbaijan is not a participant in the Eurasian
economic integration. We would like the country to be a lawful member
of this integration process,” he says.
