First and most important discovery made in Tigranakert

The excavations of Tigranakert in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) have
resumed recently headed by the Doctor of Historical Sciences, head of
archaeological expedition in Tigranakert Hamlet Petrosyan, informs the
Department of Tourism and Historic Preservation of the NKR government.

The excavation process is held in 3 main locations: the northern fence
of the fortified region, the first antique district and Early
Christian northern square yard. The excavation area is about 500
square meters with an average depth of 2.5 meters.

The first and the most significant discovery has already been recorded
in Tigranaker, the tomb that is being excavated in the east of the
altar of a newly discovered early Christian church. It has a west-east
direction, almost square grave-hall, vaulted ceiling, in the northern
and southern walls there are longitudinal cavities built for
installing the relics. The whole of the building is built in blocks,
with the help of a whitewash. In the early Christian culture of
Armenia this monument is the third for its well preserved condition
after the royal tomb found in Aghtsq (Armenia) and the tomb of
Grigoris found in Amaras (Armenia).

The excavation will make it possible to certify one more, new building
of this kind, as well as to record and to give real historical bases
to the true process and details of the religious reform made by the
Vachagan the Pious king of Hayaghvank who has reigned in the second
half of the 5th century AD.

Int’l fund urges ICRC to gain Azerbaijani hostages’ speedy release

21 July 2014, 12:58 (GMT+05:00)
By Jamila Babayeva

The International Fund for Cooperation and Partnership of the Black
Sea and the Caspian Sea (BSCSIF) expressed big concern over the fate
of Azerbaijanis taken hostage by Armenian military in Kalbajar region.

“The recent developments have negatively affected the process of the
peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over
Nagorno-Karabakh. It also have impeded the restoration of security and
stability within the entire Black Sea – Caspian region,” BSCSIF’s
appeal o the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reads.

Three Azerbaijani civilians (reportedly Russian citizen Dilgam Ahmadov
and Azerbaijani citizens Shahbaz Guliyev and Hasan Hasanov) were
detained by Armenian forces on July 10.

Armenia violated the international legal norms by taking hostage the
Azerbaijani civilians as they did not violate any border law between
Armenia and Azerbaijan. They were on their own native Kalbajar region
which has been under Armenia’s occupation since 1993.

Baku warned ICRC about failure to arrange a meeting with the
Azerbaijani civilians taken hostages by Armenia in occupied Kalbajar
region. ICRC Baku office reported that it is in contact with
conflicting sides.

BSCSIF’s appeal further reads that by such actions, Armenia is
violating international laws and norms.

“Armenia is violating the principles of the Helsinki Final Act.
Meanwhile, the 22 year military aggression of Armenia against
Azerbaijan in Karabakh has been violating other international
principles and norms including UN Security Council resolutions,
especially resolution No. 822. The resolution demands an immediate
cessation of all hostilities with a view of establishing a durable
cease-fire and immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces from
Kalbajar and other occupied regions of Azerbaijan. BSCSIF blames the
indifference of international community, especially the OSCE Minsk
Group to this conflict. Everyone is waiting for concrete measures by
OSCE Minsk Group,” the appeal noted.

BSCSIF urged ICRC to take all necessary measures within its power as
soon as possible to ensure normal conditions for the prisoners and
arrange a meeting with them to gain their speedy release.

The fund once again emphasized the need for a speedy settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of norms and principles of
international law, respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty,
non-use of force, as well as eliminating violence against civilians.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally
recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent
regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus
neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s.

The UN Security Council’s four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal have
not been enforced to this day.

Peace talks, mediated by Russia, France and the US and the OSCE Minsk
Group are underway on the basis of a peaceful outline -called Madrid
Principle -proposed by the Minsk Group co-chairs. The negotiations
have been largely fruitless so far.

SIMFEROPOL, July 20. /ITAR-TASS/. The first international flight has
left Simferopol airport for Istanbul, Turkey, for the first time since
Crimea re-united with Russia in March 2014. A Yak 42 turbojet of the
Grozny Avia air company took off from Simferopol airport on Saturday,
July 19, with 99 passengers onboard – the citizens of Russia and
Turkey.

Anatoly Tsurkin, Crimea’s deputy transport minister, told Itar-Tass
that the departure had initially been planned for 8:00 in the morning.
However, the flight was delayed for several hours because it took more
time to finish all the formalities.

“The flight check-in started at 18:00 on Saturday. We had to connect
migration control with the border service before passengers could
start crossing the border at the airport,” Tsurkin said.

According to Pyotr Yarosh, the head of the regional Federal Migration
Service department, passengers did not have any problems in passing
the migration control, the CrimeaInform news agency reports.

“It is the first international flight so far. I believe that it is
going to be good both for Simferopol and Crimea. We are going to meet
and see off passengers from all over the globe without problems in
future,” Yarosh said.

According to Crimea’s Deputy Transport Minister Anatoly Tsurkin,
Grozny Avia has made a test flight to Istanbul. The plane will return
from Turkey to Crimea with passengers onboard.

“The future flights will depend on economic expediency and the terms
of the receiving side,” Tsurkin told Itar-Tass.

“At present we have agreed that (Turkey) will receive the first
flight. I find it hard to say how things will go in future,” Tsurkin
explained.

Late in June, two Russian air carriers, including Urals Airlines and
Grozny Avia, asked the Federal Air Transport Agency for access to
international flights from Simferopol.

Urals Airlines are planning to make five flights a week from
Simferopol to Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan (Armenia), Tashkent
(Uzbekistan), Dushanbe and Khudzhand (Tajikistan).

Grozny Avia intends to fly from Crimea to Yerevan and Antalya (Turkey)
twice a week. The air company will also make daily flights to
Istanbul. The Federal Air Transport Agency has given both companies
access to the aforesaid international flights.

On June 7, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on
opening Simferopol airport to international flights.

FORMER BRITISH PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIR IS IN ADVISORY GROUP ON AZERBAIJANI GAS TRANSPORTATION

20:22 18/07/2014 ” REGION

Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, has been hired to advise
a BP-led consortium on the export of natural gas from Azerbaijan to
Europe, The Financial Times reports.

“Mr. Blair will join former German foreign minister Hans-Dietrich
Genscher and the chairman of Goldman Sachs International, Peter
Sutherland â?” a former chairman of BP â?” on an advisory panel
being set up by BP and its partners,” the author of the article reads
referring to a person close to the Azerbaijani project.

According to the article, the BP said the Southern Corridor Advisory
Panel will “advise on political, environmental, reputational and
societal challenges that may be faced by the Shah Deniz 2, TANAP and
TAP projects during their early years.

The source has reported that Mr. Blair has been hired for his political
and business experience â?” especially in dealing with EU institutions
â?” according to the person close to the Shah Deniz 2 project.

British Prince Andrew had held a private meeting with the boss of BP,
Bob Dudley at Buckingham Palace. The Duke has visited Azerbaijan’s
leader some eight times in six years, that caused outrage in London.

Moreover, in 2009, Blair attended the groundbreaking ceremony of AzMeCo
in Garadagh district of Baku. British newspaper The Daily Telegraph
reported that during the visit to Baku, former Prime Minister of
Great Britain had received 100,000 pounds (about 200,000 dollars).

In December of the last year, the BP leadership has signed a contract
with Baku, which has become the beginning of a project in the value
of $45 billion. We are talking about the pipeline that is to supply
European markets with a natural gas, the newspaper notes.

LA RENOVATION DU FORT D’OURFA NE SERAIT PAS CONFORME A L’ORIGINE DE L’EDIFICE

TURQUIE

Nous l’avons vu avec la restauration de quelques elements
d’architecture sur le site d’Ani, la capitale armenienne des
Bagratides les Turcs ne respectent aucunement les structures
anciennes en deformant les constructions historiques. A Ourfa,
