Armenian Businesses Should Abandon Personal Leadership, Manfred FR K

ARMENIAN BUSINESSES SHOULD ABANDON PERSONAL LEADERSHIP, MANFRED FR KETS DE VRIES

YEREVAN, October 14. / ARKA /. Armenian businesses should abandon the
principle of personal leadership, Manfred FR Kets de Vries, the founder
of INSEAD graduate business school and president of KDVI leadership
development consulting company, told Armenian journalists on Tuesday.

“Armenia has strong leaders, which comes from autocratic leadership
in ancient Armenia and also in the Soviet period, leaving its mark
on leadership,” he said at a leadership skills development master
class organized by Ameria Group of Companies.

He said it is desirable that Armenian business people adopt the
Mediterranean type of business organization system, in which the
focus is on the network leadership principle.

“You need to be able to create different teams, including through
virtual management without a single leader, but it is difficult in
Armenia, where preference is given to personal directors or managers.

The so-called mixed type of control prevails in Armenia, which can
be called as ‘neo-patriarchal management system.’ But there are some
positive trends as well and what is to be done is to be more open
and communicative,” said Manfred FR Kets de Vries.

He noted that the leadership has several fundamental bases – the
ability to assess oneself for rational decision-making, the ability
to get maximum results from subordinates; to overcome arrogance;
also teamwork and productive and easy atmosphere in the team.

According to INSEAD management professor Elisabet Engellau, the course
initiated by Ameria Group of Companies should help the participants
develop ambitions and a vision of future and learn also how to build
personal or professional relationships in the team.

In turn, Ameria Group of Companies development director Tigran
Jrbashyan said the company is actively investing in the development
of its team and has the opportunity to invite the world’s best experts
in the field of leadership.

“This is the second such event, we have had and the results are very
impressive – the team is inspired by communicating with the best world
experts, which contributes to the development of the business. Expert
advice is being actively put into practice and radically changes the
perception of the goals of teamwork, having a good impact on the work,
helping to change the mindset of employees, which is very important
in team work,” said Jrbashyan.

Professor Manfred FR Kets de Vries is conducting “2014 Leadership
Challenges” master classes for senior and middle managers of Ameria
Group of Companies and its partners.

Ruben Vardanyan, founder-partner of Moscow Skolkovo School
of Management and Vice President of the International Advisory
Board, Nubar Afeyan, a senior management lecturer at Sloan School
of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Gor
Nahapetyan from Skolkovo School of Management, Robert von Rekowski,
Fidelity Investment portfolio manager and some others shared their
experience in leadership skills development.

Ameria Group of Companies are among the most aggressively developing
institutions in the Armenian market, providing professional legal and
management services, investment advice and implementation of business
projects, as well as financial and banking services. -0-

The Austrian Armenian Committee For Justice And Democracy Criticizes

THE AUSTRIAN ARMENIAN COMMITTEE FOR JUSTICE AND DEMOCRACY CRITICIZES ANKARA’S POLICY

October 13, 2014

On the 8th of October 2014, the diplomatic academics of Vienna
organized an event hosting the new ambassador of Turkey in Vienna.Among
the guests were representatives of Austrian business and diplomatic
communities.

The new Turkish ambassador reiterated the willingness of Turkey to
join the EU under the slogan: “Turkey in Europe: A common history,
a common future”.

He expressed his discontent concerning the EU membership negotiation
process, qualifying it with double standard and changing game rules.

Furthermore he asked for a concrete homework, Turkey must fulfill
prior to EU membership.

The Austrian Armenian Committee for Justice and Democracy was
represented by Serge Derhagopian. He raised the question, whether the
double standard in EU membership process does not correlate with the
Turkish denial of Armenian Genocide and the low credibility of their
policy? Also he pointed out, if there is a homework to be done by
Turkey, that’s the Armenian Genocide Recognition.

Following this intervention, most of the raised questions were critical
towards Turkey (lack of freedom of speech, Cyprus conflict, conflicts
with neighbors, conflicts with Kurds and ISIS support).

The Austrian Armenian Committee for Justice and Democracy endeavors,
using every opportunity, to play an opinion making role in Austrian
community.

La Presse Syrienne Se Dechaine Contre Le President Turc Erdogan

LA PRESSE SYRIENNE SE DECHAINE CONTRE LE PRESIDENT TURC ERDOGAN

SYRIE

As Saoura.

Unexpected Circumstance Is Revealed

UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCE IS REVEALED

Hakob Badalyan, Political Commentator
Comments – 13 October 2014, 12:23

The part of the society that is against Armenia’s membership to the
Eurasian Union and condemns the surrender of sovereignty to three
states which have no shared interests but are getting closer to
Azerbaijan are angered by the infamous part of the ex-president Levon
Ter-Petrosyan’s speech at the Friday rally. Namely, he announced that
the Eurasian Union is irreversible and those who are speaking against
it are “20-30 nervous people”.

In fact, Ter-Petrosyan says it is nervousness when several citizens
are concerned about the loss of sovereignty and independence. And it
seems that embarrassment and indignation caused by the approach of
the first president is fair. People are surprised though some people
are no longer surprised how the person who was the first president
of independent Armenia can describe so the citizens who are worried
about the independence and sovereignty of Armenia.

After all, Ter-Petrosyan may describe such worries groundless but
how can he offend people who worry about it?

In reality, however, Ter-Petrosyan with his typical shrewdness is
doing the opposite. He is increasing the importance of those “20-30
nervous individuals”.

He places those few individuals on one scale with a rally of several
tens of thousands. Otherwise, hardly such a pragmatic, reserved and
self-confident individual would be overwhelmed by banal revenge. With
his typical reserve, self-confidence, Levon Ter-Petrosyan understands
that “nervousness” of some “20-30 people” is at least as much serious,
significant and important for the independence, sovereignty and future
of Armenia as the popular movement that he has declared.

Otherwise, Ter-Petrosyan is simply spiteful if he, having declared
an entire popular movement, standing in front of a rally of 10, 20
or 30 thousand, having behind him Gagik Tsarukyan who has 10 or 20
or 30 or many more millions, spares time to some “20-30” individuals.

Ter-Petrosyan says that these people are not capable of forming a
political agenda and all they can do is stir people’s mind. First,
if these people are not capable of forming a political agenda does
not means that the concerns they express are nervousness. Besides,
despite being incapable of forming an agenda, hardly counting 20 or
30 or 300, these people can stir people’s thoughts to the extent of
disturbing the popular movement declared by entire four forces.

Ter-Petrosyan means that they disturb them when these “nervous ones”
stir people’s thoughts. In other words, he is saying “if you cannot
form an agenda, why are you disturbing us, hindering the agenda that
we have formed?”

In other words, they are disturbing Levon Ter-Petrosyan. And if they
hinder Ter-Petrosyan, those 20-30 are not just nervous ones but an
entire criminal regime. Because if the regime is in panic for such
a long time, what is those 30-30 people to attend to them during
the rally?

Hence, Ter-Petrosyan acknowledges the importance of those “20-30
nervous ones”, whether he wants it or not. He wants to acknowledge it
intentionally because Moscow may not understand or may misunderstand
him. Therefore, the ex-president uses a rhetorical trick. Hence,
Ter-Petrosyan supports the movement against the Eurasian Economic Union
between the lines. He acknowledges it unintentionally that there are
some “20-30 people” who bring up the issue of the sovereignty and
independence of Armenia and threaten his agenda.

In any case, there is no need to be indignant. On the contrary,
one has to acknowledge the results of “nervous spasms” though,
unfortunately, it is highly insufficient. At the same time, it is
necessary to think about forming the political agenda, the shortcoming
mentioned by Ter-Petrosyan.
