“I’m appalled by this shocking display of hatred and violence! We have to stand together against such horrendous incidents! I call on the Belgian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of this hate crime!” Kovatchev wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the Armenian embassy in Belgium informed about the act of vandalism against the Armenian cross-stone installed at Henri Michaux Square in Brussels—and in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Armenian Genocide Education Act introduced in US House of Representatives

NEWS.am
Armenia –

Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) were joined by close to 50 US House of Representatives members in introducing the Armenian Genocide Education Act, a bipartisan measure that would fund Library of Congress educational programs about the history, lessons, consequences, and ongoing costs of the Armenian Genocide, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

“As the saying goes, if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it,” said Congresswoman Maloney. “That is why I am proud to introduce the Armenian Genocide Education Act to teach the horrors and lessons of the Armenian Genocide accurately and effectively. Both chambers of Congress voted with overwhelming bipartisan majorities to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, and last year President Biden made it clear that it is the official position of the United States that these systematic killings were genocide. It is imperative that we now ensure Americans have access to the resources they need to learn and teach about this atrocity.”

Rep. Bilirakis concurred, noting, “our darkest moments as a human race have come during times when those who knew better stood silently, making excuses for passivity and allowing injustice and persecution to reign. We must acknowledge the atrocities of the past so that we might hopefully prevent them in the future. One of the best ways to achieve this goal is through education and awareness, which is why I am proud to co-introduce the Armenian Genocide Education Act with Carolyn Maloney.”

This landmark legislation, introduced on the eve of the international commemoration of the Armenian Genocide on April 24th, seeks to provide $10 million in funding over five years for the Library of Congress to educate Americans about Ottoman Turkey’s systematic and deliberate state-sponsored mass murder, national dispossession, cultural erasure, and exile of millions of Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Arameans, Maronites, and other Christians, between 1915 and 1923.

Vazgen Manukyan: Armenian people must stand up and take the lead in making decisions

Panorama
Armenia –

Former Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan stresses Artsakh is ready to fight and Armenia must not give up either.

“In a statement passed by the parliament, our compatriots in Artsakh have confirmed that they are not giving up. Is Armenia giving up? No, the calls to surrender come only from the current authorities, who are leading the state to destruction,” Manukyan said in a statement on Friday.

History has shown that by following the calls to abandon national ideas and goals for the sake of survival, the country not only failed to survive, but also suffered new losses, he said.

Manukyan underscores that developed and strong countries have achieved prosperity through persistent struggle without indulging in illusions. He calls on the Armenian people to take the lead in making decisions to ensure the country’s security.

“The Armenian people must stand up and take the lead in making decisions about the country’s future to ensure the security of the state and a fair, free and prosperous life for the people.

“We must rely on our own power and build a fair and strong country, which everyone will reckon with. Many people in the world have taken this path and we will have real allies and friends along the way. The first step on this path is to stand by Artsakh, its rights and demands,” Manukyan said.

Addressing lawmakers earlier on April 13, Nikol Pashinyan said that the international community is pressing Armenia to “lower the bar on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status” and recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

On behalf of Artsakh Armenians, National Assembly of Artsakh appealed to Armenia, Russian Federation and OSCE Minsk Group

ARMINFO
Armenia –

ArmInfo. The Artsakh parliamentarians demand that the Armenian authorities renounce their “disastrous position”. On April 14, the National Assembly of Artsakh  adopted a statement during an extraordinary meeting.

“The current legal and political status of the Republic of Artsakh  has been formed by the will of the people as a result of three  referendums and the adoption of a constitution based on their results  and through a nationwide agreement established in the previous years.   The Armenians of Artsakh are well aware of the price of peace. The  statehood of Artsakh, the right to live freely and independently in  the historical homeland are absolute values from which even the  threat of war cannot keep us.

According to Armenia-Azerbaijan “peace” agenda, any negotiation  process to annex Artsakh to Artsakh as well as the signing of the  resulting document, undermines not only the statehood of Artsakh, but  also the inalienable right of the Armenians of Artsakh to live in  their historical homeland.

We demand that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia renounce  their current catastrophic position and be guided exclusively by  these values. No government has the right to lower the bar of  internationally recognized self-determination to a status  unacceptable to Artsakh, under the pretext of “peace.”

On behalf of the Armenians of Artsakh we apply to

-Armenians all over the world to stand united and resolutely by the  brothers and sisters of Armenia and Artsakh in this just struggle.

– our colleagues in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia  to not deviate from the decision of the Supreme Council of the  Republic of Armenia of July 8, 1992

-the leadership of the Russian Federation. During the peacekeeping  mission, it is very important for us that you do not allow anyone to  manipulate the problems that arise, as a basis for questioning the  further security of the people of Artsakh.

– the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries. Make  efforts to maintain the only international mandate for the settlement  of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict regardless of all other  disagreements.”

Earlier, yesterday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking  in parliament, said that the international community urges Armenia to  slightly lower the bar on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. ”  Otherwise, please do not pin your hopes on us, and not for the reason  that we do not want to help you, but because we cannot help you,” the  RA Prime Minister said. After this statement by Pashiyan, a meeting  of the Security Council was convened in Artsakh. “Azerbaijan’s  proposals regarding the status of Artsakh are unacceptable,” Artsakh  President Arayik Harutyunyan said at a meeting with the leadership of  the regional administration, heads of communities, and active  representatives of the population in Martakert.  Today, MPs of  Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract faction, represented by Vigen  Khachatryan, stated that the idea that Artsakh has no future within  Azerbaijan, put forward back in 1996, was erroneous.
