Azerbaijan and Armenia are on the verge of a new war, American analyst
Thomas de Vaal believes. According to an article by de Vaal published
by the BBC, the recent incident in which an Armenian helicopter was
downed on the front line is one of the most dangerous issues in the
history of the 20-year-long conflict.

Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yildiz said at the parliament that
anything could happen in the Nagorno-Karabakh Region, considering
that the Armenian authorities had promised to punish Azerbaijan for
shooting its Mi-24 helicopter in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict on November 12, 1news.az reports.

The minister emphasized that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process needed
special attention.

Azerbaijan claims that the helicopter was beyond the line of contact,
targeting its positions, and was shot down near Kengerli (Agdam
District of Azerbaijan).

Ajustements Structurels : La Decision Du Gouvernement De Reorganiser

AJUSTEMENTS STRUCTURELS : LA DECISION DU GOUVERNEMENT DE REORGANISER CERTAINS MINISTERES CRITIQUEE

ARMENIE

>,
a declare Zaruhi Postanjyan.

Roupen PACHAYAN

Lettre ouverte a l’ambassadeur d’Armenie

Monsieur l’Ambassadeur, Vous representez, Monsieur l’Ambassadeur,

There Is One Way Not To Get Lost – Believe In God – Arthur Elbakyan

THERE IS ONE WAY NOT TO GET LOST – BELIEVE IN GOD – ARTHUR ELBAKYAN

12:40 / 14.11.2014

Actor, screenwriter, director and producer Arthur Elbakyan presented
his new “My Insane Shakespeare” performance in New York City’s Theatre
Row on October 13 in the sidelines of United Solo Theatre Festival.

The performance was a big success and was additionally presented on
the same stage on October 19.

In this performance Elbakyan plays the main character who finds
himself in a mental hospital where the main developments are being
unfolded. Betrayed by his friends and allies, the hero starts
analyzing life, love, hatred, draws parallels between nowadays and
the days of Shakespeare. As a result the hero comes to the conclusion
that human relations and values have not changed during the time. The
performance shows how a person appearing in difficult situation finds
inner strength to live, love and create.

– Mr Elbakyan, after 20-year pause you have decided to come up and
chose solo performance, why? Has a lot been gathered inside you wanted
to share with?

– You have already given the answer to the question. Painting, film,
book, theatre are the ways of self-manifestation. If nothing has
gathered, if you do not have anything to say, you will not paint,
you will not stage, you will not write. I am such a person. I cannot
play or stage just for doing it, just to fill the list of the roles
I have played and the works I have staged. You need a pause, but this
pause is conventional. During the pause I create as well. The pause is
important to define what you are going to say. And finally this pause
is necessary for deciding the right place and time of the meeting.

When this all met in one point the place and time have become clear
for me and I came back. As to why solo performance, I can say that
there were few reasons with the main and decisive one being the piece I
wrote during this time. It coincided with the proposal to participate
in the United Solo Theatre Festival I have got, and I have decided to
stage it and play in it. Besides, I have not tried this genre before,
I did it and it was a success.

– “My Insane Shakespeare” premier took place on a New York stage. How
did you learn about the festival and how did you decide to present
your performance there?

– One of my American partners hinted me to participate in the
festival. He knew about my piece. As far as the piece was already
translated into English for printing I sent it to the festival
and received an invitation to participate in it. United Solo is the
biggest theatrical festival of solo performers. It is being conducted
not only in the USA, but in Europe as well. This year was jubilant
for the festival, it celebrated its 5th anniversary expanding its
borders during this period. In the sidelines of the festival 130
performances from 6 continents were staged in the Theatre Row. The
jubilee was a success.

– How do you rate the participation in the festival? What did it give
to you?

– The participation in the festival was really important for me as
my comeback took place in New York, in the sidelines of one of the
authoritative festivals. It really gave a lot to me. Besides giving
an opportunity to get new acquaintances, contacting with different
art figures, the festival was a good chance to present the Armenian
theatre and the Armenian language to the foreign audience, to the
participants of the festival. Thanks to it the foreign audience and
different theatrical figures got acquainted with me, I have received
working invitations and invitations to stage performances in the
international market.

– Why “My Insane Shakespeare”? Do you see Shakespeare in yourself,
or do you see Shakespeare’s characters and the life he presented in
everyday life?

– For me the people surrounding us are Shakespeare heroes. Their fates
are very much alike the ones of the Shakespeare heroes. Believe me,
we are living Shakespeare’s life, we just do not pay attention to it
while in Shakespeare’s works you can find the answers to the questions
we face in our lives.

– The core of your performance is a human being and his way to
self-recognition. Have you found the formula of understanding yourself?

– The important thing is for the human not to apart from himself. We
must hear ourselves everyday, we must speak with ourselves and be
frank in our answers. And no matter how cruel the answers are we must
listen to them. We have to do it. I have never accepted the idea of
making concessions for yourself. The important thing is to understand
why you were born and why you live in this world.

– Which is the limit between insane and real worlds? What does a person
need not to get lost in these worlds and to find his/her mission?

– According to my hero, the drawn limit between the sensible person
and an insane has been erased. There is just one way not to get lost –
belief in God. Believe, and God will hint you what your mission is.

Believe in God and recognize yourself, there is no other secret.

– Which is the driving force of life for you, and which are your
prior values?

– The driving force of life was and will be love. Love is everything.

Love theme is eternal. The basis of our life is love. The prior values
of life are written in the Bible. My Constitution is the Bible.

– You live outside of Armenia for many years, but I think that you
follow the cultural developments taking place here. In your opinion
are valuable theatrical works being created here?

– I do not want to give any assessment to the events in the cultural
sphere as for doing it, it is necessary to be there, see, participate
and only than express an opinion. While here I just receive information
which is not complete. I am not aware of everything but I am always
in touch with my friends and I am sincerely happy with their success.

– What new performances are you going to present in near future?

– I will enumerate only those which are certain. Soon, a serial movie
will be shot by my scenario at the order of one of the Russian TV
Channels. I hope I will be engaged in the shooting of the movie.

Besides, in one of the biggest US cities exhibition of my canvases
will take place.

Currently negotiations are being held with big American producer
group over shooting a movie on the basis of “My Insane Shakespeare”.

Besides, presentation of the book I have written will soon take place.

– Will you perform “My Insane Shakespeare” in Armenia?

– Answering to your first question I have said that it is important
to decide right time and place of the new meeting. I think this day
will come.

Serzh Sargsyan’s Challenge To Azerbaijan

SERZH SARGSYAN’S CHALLENGE TO AZERBAIJAN

Hakob Badalyan, Political Commentator
Comments – 14 November 2014, 13:18

Serzh Sargsyan has gone to Artsakh. He went there by helicopter.

Recently he has always travelled to Artsakh by helicopter but this
visit is special not only because on the eve there had been an
unprecedented encroachment on the Armenian armed forces, namely the
Armenian helicopter was shot down from the territory of Azerbaijan
during the training exercise. Sargsyan’s travel to Artsakh by
helicopter is notable after Azerbaijan announced Artsakh a no fly area.

After shooting down the Armenian helicopter Azerbaijan declared
Artsakh a no fly area and notified the International Civil Aviation
Organization. It means that Azerbaijan intends to shoot down different
flying devices in that territory.

Of course, the sky of Artsakh was a no fly area with or without this
statement. Therefore, the newly-built airport of Stepanakert is not
operated for civil flight though Serzh Sargsyan had announced two
years before that he was going to be the first passenger flying to
Stepanakert. Now Serzh Sargsyan is a passenger of the helicopter.

Serzh Sargsyan demonstrates with his flight that Azerbaijanis were
just boasting. In other words, Serzh Sargsyan is trying to prevent
the consequences of Azerbaijan’s statement. And the statement was,
in fact, made for the purpose of propaganda.

On the other hand, the question occurs whether Serzh Sargsyan’s visit
to Artsakh pursued a purpose other than his visit to Artsakh. It
is early to speak about it, and everything will become clear in the
result of the visit.

It is not ruled out that over this period the response to Azerbaijan
will become known. Although, it is possible that Serzh Sargsyan’s
visit to Artsakh will replace the response, and for the time being,
the Armenian side will refrain from a direct military response until
the reaction of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs becomes known.

The Minsk Group co-chairs have announced that further escalation
is unacceptable. However, it does not mean that they do not allow
Armenia to respond. Perhaps, the issue is the scale of the response.

At the same time, Baku has awarded the serviceman who hit the Armenian
helicopter. Aliyev would do this in two cases: either he has an
international guarantee that he will go with impunity or he has
altogether lost his link to reality. Although, there may be a third
option as well. Aliyev is aware of what he is doing but he is going
through a stage of deep geopolitical and economic stagnation and he
thinks that he has nothing to lose and is thus behaving like a shaheed.

However, this option is related to the option of losing the link to
the reality because what happened in the Near East and Arab states
should teach Aliyev that shaheedism is not a way out and only further
complicates things.

On the other hand, one should not forget that we are dealing with big
politics where issues are not resolved by a magic stick and countries
do not disappear from the map by a single stroke of pen. They
are there and they can win and lose during the working political
process, and everything depends on how they perform. And in this
sense, no matter how impressive Serzh Sargsyan’s flight to Artsakh,
the important question is not how, when and where he flies but how
he is going to act not allow Aliyev to get away with the helicopter
like he got away with Safarov’s extradition.

In addition, the problem now is deeper and has multiple layers
because we are not just dealing with a violation of the ceasefire
but Azerbaijan is actually trying a new option of a disguised war
– long-range shoot down of military equipment – that will come to
replace the war of snipers or saboteurs.

In any case, Baku’s action may mark change of tactics or methodology
of the disguised war waged by Azerbaijan since the ceasefire which Baku
has apparently decided to try, as well as an attempt to adapt it among
the international community after a defeat of saboteurs in August.

Zhoghovurd: Armenian Greenhouses To Be Auctioned Off Over Debts

ZHOGHOVURD: ARMENIAN GREENHOUSES TO BE AUCTIONED OFF OVER DEBTS

09:15 * 14.11.14

The Armenian Justice Ministry’s Compulsory Execution Service of
Judicial Acts has reportedly put 18 greenhouse economies to auction.

The starting prices is said to be 22,225,725 Drams ($53,514).

Citing its sources, the paper says that greenhouse owners pawned
their property in one of the banks last year after suffering losses
and accumulating debts, but that apparently was no use as none of
them paid off the loans afterwards. The bank later filed a lawsuit
with a demand to confiscate its debt, and its appeal was eventually
satisfied, according to the paper.

Pallone Expresses Outrage At Attack On Nagorno Karabakh Helicopter

PALLONE EXPRESSES OUTRAGE AT ATTACK ON NAGORNO KARABAKH HELICOPTER

12:29, 14 Nov 2014

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Co-Chair of the Congressional
Caucus on Armenian Issues, released the following statement upon news
of an Azerbaijani attack on a Nargorno Karabakh helicopter:

“I am outraged and saddened by the Azerbaijani attack on the Nagorno
Karabakh helicopter engaged in a training flight. This is another
instance of aggression by the Azerbaijani government towards Nagorno
Karabakh and Armenia and represents an escalation in their violent
actions that continue to have a destabilizing impact on the region.

There is no longer any question that President Obama must take action
to discourage Azerbaijan from pursuing such violent aggression and
to demonstrate our commitment to peace and stability.

“I encourage President Obama to formally condemn this deadly attack.

I am also calling for the cessation of any military assistance to
Azerbaijan and the strengthening of section 907 of the FREEDOM Support
Act, which restricts aid to Azerbaijan based on its aggression toward
Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia. It is time for both the President
and Congress to ensure that U.S. law once again holds Azerbaijan
accountable for its violent actions.

“The families of those who were killed and all of Nagorno Karabakh’s
citizens remain in my thoughts and prayers.”

Armenian Genocide Victims To Be Canonized On April 23, 2015

ARMENIAN GENOCIDE VICTIMS TO BE CANONIZED ON APRIL 23, 2015

13:10, 14 Nov 2014

The ceremony of canonization of the Armenian Genocide victims will
take place on April 23, 2015 at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The decision was made at the Bishops’ Synod convened at the Mother
See of Holy Etchmiadzin November 11-13 under the presidency of His
Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians;
and His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

The Synod also adopted a statement, in which it called on the Christian
world to join the prayer on the 100th commemoration of the Armenian
Genocide.

Members of the Bishops’ Synod also called on the international
community to continue the efforts towards international recognition
and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and reestablish the “just
rights” of the Armenian people.

The Synod expressed concern over the ongoing conflicts in different
parts of the world, namely Syria and Iraq and Ukraine, which result
in numerous human losses and destructions.

The statement criticized the military actions incited by Azerbaijan
at the border of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, the most recent
demonstration of which was the downing of the Armenian helicopter.
