“The policy of Azerbaijan as a non-permanent member of the
United Nations Security Council will be aimed at transferring the
Nagorno-Karabakh issue to the UN, however, this goal is doomed to
fail,” NKR President’s spokesman David Babayan told Panorama.am.

Note that Azerbaijan was elected as UNSC non-permanent member on
October 24 after Slovenia withdrew its candidacy.

“The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries have repeatedly condemned all
efforts towards transferring the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the UN.

The Minsk Group is currently the best format for resolving the
conflict,” the spokesman said.

“I have no doubt that Azerbaijan will carry out such policy in
the United Nations Security Council, otherwise, it should not have
sought to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security
Council. Azerbaijan is not a country which can play a pivotal role in
ensuring stability and fighting terrorism in different corners of the
world, on the contrary, Azerbaijan with its policy boosts terrorism,
pushing its society towards extremism,” Babayan concluded.

Sports: Darchinyan Wants Rematch With Donaire

DARCHINYAN WANTS REMATCH WITH DONAIRE

ABS CBN News
Oct 26 2011

MANILA, Philippines – Hard-hitting Armenian fighter Vic Darchinyan
is hoping for a rematch with Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire even
as he prepares to take on the dangerous Anselmo Moreno in December.

Darchinyan says he is willing to move up in weight in order to chase
a fight with Donaire, the king of the bantamweight division who is
already planning a move to junior featherweight.

“My goal is I want to fight Nonito Donaire, he’s moving up to 122
pounds,” Darchinyan told BoxingScene.com.

Donaire scored a sensational knockout victory over Darchinyan in 2007,
ending the Armenian’s 28-bout winning streak. Donaire flattened the
Armenian with a left hook, leading the referee to stop the bout and
award the Filipino a 5th round technical knockout win.

It was eventually awarded Knockout of the Year and Upset of the Year.

In order to pursue a rematch with Donaire, Darchinyan will have to
get past Moreno, who he says is a technical fighter.

“I think his mind is going to be, win every round, not to knock me
out. He’s not a good puncher,” Darchinyan said. “I’m not saying it’s
going to be easy to beat him or knock him out. It’s going to be hard.”

TBILISI: Rumors Over Armenian President’s Sudden Change Of Plan

RUMORS OVER ARMENIAN PRESIDENT’S SUDDEN CHANGE OF PLAN

The Messenger, Georgia
Oct 26 2011

All of a sudden, officials in Yerevan contradicted the statement
of the Georgian president’s spokesperson about the planned visit of
Armenia’s President Serzh Sarkisian to Georgia in early November.

Officially, Tbilisi is not making any comment about this whereas
Armenian and Russian media disseminate different versions of why the
visit was cancelled. Already on September 29, 2011 Georgian information
agencies announced Armenia’s president would visit Georgia later this
year. According to them, Armenian President Sarkisian was planning to
visit Tbilisi this fall, but no precise date was known and a definite
date would only be known by the beginning of October. On October 18
Saakashvili’s press secretary stated that on November 1 the Armenian
president would visit Georgia for three days. On October 21 however
the spokesman for Armenia’s Foreign Ministry stated that during these
dates there were no scheduled visits of the Armenian president at all.

The visit of the Armenian president was planned and then canceled
obviously. As to why, the Russian and Armenian media are offering
different explanations. The first version coming from Armenia is
connected with the comments of Saakashvili when the rescue works
during the recent landslide tragedy in Armenia went on very slowly.

The Georgian president criticized the activities of the Armenian side
saying that in his country things would have been done quicker. The
Armenian media also recollected some other cases when Saakashvili
compared the two countries and criticized Armenia.

The second version suggests that the Armenian side did not like the
fact that officials in Tbilisi announced the Georgia visit before
the Armenian president’s trip on October 23 to Russia to meet
Russia’s President Dmitri Medvedev. The Armenian analyst Viktor
Yakubian commented that the cancellation of the visit is a signal
that Yerevan is not going to follow the Georgian way or its reforms
and that Saakashvili should be more careful in relations with Armenia.

One way or another, Armenian-Georgian relations have not been helped
by the cancellation of the presidential trip, whatever the reason.

This fact does not bode well for two nations which accepted long ago
that they are doomed to be friendly.

Azerbaijani Expert: EU, U.S. Likely To Impose Sanctions On Azerbaija

AZERBAIJANI EXPERT: EU, U.S. LIKELY TO IMPOSE SANCTIONS ON AZERBAIJAN

Panorama, Armenia
Oct 26 2011

The European Union and U.S. have long been calling on Azerbaijan
to respect democracy and human rights, however, these appeals are
ignored. Moreover, the Azerbaijani authorities respond harshly to
democracy appeals. Thus the ruling regime moves towards international
sanctions, expert Elkhan Mekhtiyev told Yeni Musavat.

“International sanctions are very likely to be imposed on the
Azerbaijani authorities. Little time is left before this stage,”
Mekhtiyev said. The expert noted that the harsh reports in European
and American media on the property of the Azerbaijani authorities and
on their machinations give Azerbaijan a signal, and if the process
goes on, the sanctions will be inevitable.

The source reports that last week the European Union imposed sanctions
against four top officials of Nakhichevan, head of the Supreme Majlis
of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov, his brother, Deputy
Mayor of Nakhichevan Magerram Talibov, National Security Minister of
Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic Vali Mammadov, and Minister of the
Interior Ahmed Ahmedov. They are banned from entering the EU countries.

Council of Armenian organizations in France (CCAF) on false information
about the split of the organization.

“It is already for the second time that French edition of the Internet
newspaper “Noyan Tapan becomes tools of rude manipulations. It makes
readers believe that CCAF is splitting. According to the newspaper,
the two co-chairs of the organization Murad Papazyan and Ara Toranyan
participate with nickname in the debate on Armenews forum. However,
both co-chairs rejected the false information.
