Baku-APA. The member of the Estonian Parliament Kristiina Ojuland
said that Ramil Safarov extradition to Azerbaijan and his pardoning
were carried out in accordance with international laws.

APA reports quoting to TEAS.

“The ALDE Group in the European Parliament decided not sign the
resolution on the case of Ramil Safarov, since the Azerbaijani
authorities have not violated international law. Unfortunately,
there it has aggravated the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan
and hindered progress towards resolution of the conflict over
Nagorno-Karabakh”, Kristiina Ojuland said. The member of the Estonian
parliament also stressed that the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and
seven surrounding regions is the internationally recognised territory
of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and that should also be the basis for
the position of the EU. The absence of any results after 20 years of
work indicates that the Minsk Group needs a reshuffle.

According to her in order to find a balance in the whole negotiation
process, France should be replaced by the EU, which has a historic
chance for resolving this frozen conflict.

Kristiina Ojuland said that the European Parliament stays committed
to the developments in the South-Caucasus and its members are
aware of the huge potential Azerbaijan has. She also stressed that a
constructive partnership between Brussels and Baku entails reciprocity
and commitment to shared values.

the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

session in Strasbourg issue of release of Ramil Safarov. APA reports
quoting the press service of the European Parliament.

Ilham Aliyev, extracted August 31 from Hungary to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, as well as in connection with the
“heroic” welcome that Safarov after his return to Azerbaijan.

MEPs expressed concern that the issue could further inflame tensions
between Azerbaijan and Armenia and threaten “all peace processes
of reconciliation.” MPs noted that the “legitimate frustration in
Azerbaijan and Armenia” at the lack of substantial progress in the
peace process in Nagorno-Karabakh” does not justify either acts of
revenge or futile provocations.

They called on the EU to play a more active role in the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Armenia At The Cross Roads

Armenia’s interest in joining European structures contradicts the
goals of the country to achieve a free-trade agreement within the
CIS space. On the one side Armenia is trying to improve its economic
cooperation with European countries, but on the other side, it is
trying to do same with its strategic partner Russia and other CIS
countries. Some MPs are concerned that free trade with CIS countries
might create barriers for the country to improve its economic
relations with the EU system. Armenia’s PM Tigran Sargsyan, thinks
that his country’s economic cooperation with CIS countries does not
contradict its commitments to the WTO and does not hinder Armenia’s
Euro-integration process. However, some political figures challenge
this confidence and demand that government bodies bring more convincing
arguments- why should Armenia join the CIS free-trade zone which
eventually could hinder the country’s integration into the EU system?

“Thanks to Armenian lobby, corrupt, hypocritical senators, heads of
several international organizations, some politicians put forward
groundless accusations against Azerbaijan”

“A person, who was released with insistence of the Council of Europe,
killed the whole family”

Baku – APA. When it comes to the extradition of Ramil Safarov to
Azerbaijan,I don’t think that we should report anything, because
the main issue for us is his extradition. NATO Secretary General
was a visit to Baku some days ago and I touched the legal part
of the issue at the press conference. Azerbaijani government is
committed to its international obligations. We brought Ramil on a
basis of the European Convention and he was pardoned on a basis of
the Azerbaijani Constitution. There, I have said again: The main
thing is that Azerbaijan has its officer back to his motherland,”
said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

The Head of State said that pressure and accusations started against
Azerbaijan after the extradition of Ramil Safarov and his pardoning:
“Armenians and Armenian lobbies raised a clamor. I said some moths
ago that our main enemy is Armenian lobby. At present, they are
conducting many dirty campaigns against Azerbaijan. Under the care of
the Armenian lobby, corrupt, hypocritical senators, heads of several
international organizations, some politicians put forward groundless
accusations against Azerbaijan. These accusations are baseless.

Everything was settled within the law and conventions adopted by
Europe. And now look, what did the Secretary General of the Council
of Europe do? His duty is to embody humanism and defend human rights.

The Council of Europe has repeatedly put forward groundless accusations
against Azerbaijan. I know this well, because I have led the delegation
in the Council of Europe for three years. I remember that there was one
criminal between them and he was released with the insistence of the
Council of Europe. He committed a crime again after some months and
killed the whole family. The Council of Europe demanded his release
and now charges me in the pardoning of Ramil.”

His compatriot Breivik killed about 80 people and he was sentenced to
21 year imprisonment. And it means that he got 3 month of imprisonment
for each people. Is that possible? Why does he keep silence about this?

Or there is one pro-Armenian Senator Menendez and he is against
Azerbaijan and Islam. His last work was that he was not allowed to
extend the term of the former U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan and to
prevent his nomination for two reasons. The first reason is that the
US ambassador does not recognize the so-called “Armenian genocide”.

And he should not recognize as the U.S. government does not recognize
this “genocide”. The second reason is that the ambassador’s wife is
of Turkish origin. It is racism. However, I want to stress that no
one can affect my will, opinion, action, and have never affected.”

ARMENIAN PRESIDENT CALLS “UNACCEPTABLE” SOME “BALANCED” STATEMENTS ON SAFAROV’S CASE

Armenia

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan called some
allegedly “balanced” statements on Safarov’s case “unacceptable” today.

Receiving EU Special Representative Philip Lefort, Serzh Sargsyan
thanked numerous countries and various international organizations
including a number of European structures for their unequivocal
statements strongly condemning the steps taken by the Azerbaijani
authorities to pardon and making murderer Safarov a hero.

At the same time, the President considered unacceptable and unclear
some statements allegedly “balanced” but in fact absolutely inadequate
for such a horrible act. According to Serzh Sargsyan, making the
murderer a hero by the Azerbaijani authorities deserves unconditional
condemnation especially by the European partners.

The EU Special Representative noted that after the meeting with the
Armenian leader, he will set off to Baku where he expects to get
explanations from the Azerbaijani authorities.

Philip Lefort stressed that the EU condemns the step which undermines
trust between the sides of Karabakh conflict.

YEREVAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS: The developments in the Middle
East region are unpredictable; it may create a dangerous situation for
Armenia too. ” Kuwait and Saudi Arabia dictated by the United States
of America are continuing to provide means to free army to purchase
weapon. Turkey has for long considered the overthrow of Assad authority
and choose a new regime to mediate” Hakob Chakryan, specialist on
Turkey told the reporters. In the words of the interlocutor the
opposition composed of 16 groups is not unanimous, so in case Assad
regime fails, there is nobody to replace him.

Specialist on Arabic studies Hayk Kocharyan stated Turkish-Syrian
relations are rather complicated, regardless the fact there are no
essential changes. The situation remains tense for the region. “The
move of Armenians from Syria is dangerous, it winds its way from
deserted part of Turkey . Syrian Armenians may encounter problems,
surely carrying with them their fortune” Kocharyan noted.

The major offensive by rebels is underway aimed at overthrowing Assad
regime. The clashes between Assad royal forces and opposition are
mostly orchestrated in the nearby territories of capital Damascus
and Aleppo. The rebels are continuing to attack the outskirts of the
cities applying rapid retreat tactics.
