“HELP YOUR BROTHER” RECEIVES BIG MONEY TRANSFERS

10:07, 11 January, 2013

YEREVAN, JANUARY 11, ARMENPRESS. “Help Your Brother” Civil Initiative
will continue supporting the Syrian people in 2013 too. The Chairperson
of All-National Foundation Lilit Galstyan stated this in a conversation
with “Armenpress”. Lilit Galstyan stated: “The bank account of
“Help Your Brother” Civil Initiative keeps receiving new and big
money transfers. From now on we shall focus on sending Syria money,
as transfers via aircraft cause a lot of troubles.

Notwithstanding the Syrian Airlines, did not perform any flights last
week.” In addition Lilit Galstyan stated that there are medicines of
about 200 kilos, which must be sent to Syria.

Among other things Lilit Galstyan noted that there are certain entities
from Europe and the United States, who are willing to send medicines
to Syria. The Chairperson of All-National Foundation underscored:
“We shall continue our activity this year too.”

“Help Your Brother” Civil Initiative launched on September 18. Clashes
in Syria had evidently tragic consequences for both the Syrian people
and our compatriots as well. The war caused a lot of casualties to
the local population and it still has a devastating impact for the
Armenian community in Syria, which is one of the most vivid communities
of the Armenian Diaspora.

Ep President: Armenia Is A Major Partner For The Eu

EP PRESIDENT: ARMENIA IS A MAJOR PARTNER FOR THE EU

12:02 11.01.2013

The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, met with
the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Hoavik Abrahamyan.

Armenia makes part of the European Neighborhood Policy. Among others,
they discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the negotiations
for the deeper comprehensive association agreement between the EU and
Armenia. After their meeting, both Presidents offered a press point.

“Armenia is a major partner for the EU. The cooperation between our
two parliaments is vital for the future developments. We discussed
about the parliamentarian election of spring last year, we discussed
the presidential elections ahead, evaluated the conformity of the
elections to the European standards last year and we discussed about
our observation mission for the presidential election. We discussed
the necessity to go ahead and to develop the negotiation for a deeper
comprehensive free trade agreement,” Mr. Schulz said following the
meeting.

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is unsustainable, it’s quite clear.

Both sides should do efforts towards a solution. Both sides are
invited by the EP to avoid any statement which could lead to more
tensions and more conflicts,” EP President added.

Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said, in turn, that “both sides
(EU and Armenia) are keen on concluding the Association agreement and
the EFTA talks during 2013.” “We emphasized the positive influence of
this process on Armenia’s economic development and domestic reforms
and in the consolidation of democracy,” he added.

“Armenia adheres to her promise, enabling citizens of the EU to enter
the Republic of Armenia, without a visa,” he noted.

“The criteria of the EU concerning the rule of law, transparency,
democracy, democratic accountability of executive action; this is in
the frame on the ongoing negotiations about the deeper comprehensive
free-trade agreement. Without any doubt the co-item of our role as EP
to look, is that beside the economical and technical negotiations,
these questions of values and democratic standards are a co-element
of the negotiations. And this was clearly discussed and agreed between
us,” President of eth European Parliament concluded.

Hungary’s Ombudsman Faults Government On Handover Of Azeri Murderer

HUNGARY’S OMBUDSMAN FAULTS GOVERNMENT ON HANDOVER OF AZERI MURDERER SAFAROV

13:23 11.01.2013

Hungary’s ombudsman for fundamental rights said on Friday that whereas
the Hungarian state did not break international law and acted within
its scope of authority when it transferred home an Azeri officer
convicted for the murder of an Armenian, it should have exercised
more caution.

Ombudsman Mate Szabo told MTI on Friday that after concluding an
investigation in the case, he found that the Hungarian government
should have been clearly aware that Azerbaijan was likely to think
Ramil Safarov had committed a “patriotic duty” when “he brutally
murdered his defenceless Armenian fellow officer attending a NATO
seminar in Budapest.”

It could certainly be expected that once the murderer is transferred
to Azerbaijan, he would be pardoned and freed, Szabo said, politics.hu
reports.

The Hungarian government failed to act with due foresight by failing
to seek a guarantee from Azerbaijan that the officer would not be
pardoned, Szabo added. This threatened legal certainty, Szabo said.

Hungary repatriated Safarov in late August on the understanding that
he would continue to serve the life sentence he received in Hungary
in February 2004 for murdering the Armenian. Armenia decided to break
diplomatic ties with Hungary on the day of Safarov’s release.

turco-kurdes a laquelle semble tenir Erdogan.
