Evangelists claim to have found Noah’s ark – 4000m up mountain

Evangelists claim to have found Noah’s ark – 4000m up mountain

April 27, 2010

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers said on Monday they
believe they may have found Noah’s Ark – 4000m up a mountain in Turkey.

The team say they recovered wooden specimens from a structure on Mount
Ararat in eastern Turkey that carbon dating proved was 4800 years old,
around the same time the ark is said to have been afloat.

"It’s not 100 per cent that it is Noah’s Ark but we think it is 99.9 per
cent that this is it," said Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary
filmmaker and member of the 15-strong team from Noah’s Ark Ministries
International.

The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human
settlement on the grounds that one had never been found above 3500m in the
vicinity, Yeung said.

Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply
for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major
archaeological dig is conducted, Yeung added.

The biblical story says God decided to flood the earth after seeing how
corrupt it had become, and told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of
every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a
mountain. Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region,
is where the ark and her inhabitants came aground.

NA SPEAKER: TURKEY TURNED TO BE NOT SERIOUS PARTNER

"We expected Turkey to ratify the protocols but they turned to be not
serious partner," Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan
told pupils at a traditional open lesson in the Parliament.

He once again explained that preconditions should be ruled out in
Armenia-Turkey reconciliation process and the two countries had agreed
on it beforehand.

"The numerous statements made by the Turkish authorities prove that
they put forth preconditions over genocide and the Nagorno-Karabakh.

There is no eternal enmity for us. We want to establish ties, open
borders, but without preconditions," NA Speaker said, highlighting the
President’s decision on suspending the ratification of the protocols.

He said, the genocide issue is being discussed in the parliaments
of many countries and lots of states have already recognized the
Armenian Genocide, though, Armenia has a main misson: Turkey itself
should recognize the crime its ancestors committed.

Referring to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Turkey’s efforts to become
OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, Hovik Abrahamyan said we need no other
mediator in the process.

"Our mission is regulate the issue through peaceful talks.

Independence and status of Karabakh are not subject to discussion."

MANOYAN SAYS OBAMA’S STATEMENT ISN’T HONEST APPROACH

Giro Manoyan, the head of Armenian Cause Office says he isn’t satisfied
with Obama’s statement. This time again U.S. President avoided using
Genocide though having no reasons for not doing it.

"He has pointed unequally the role of those Turks who have helped
their neighbors or relatives to get survived. When you reject calling
things with their names, it’s in vain to do such recall," Manoyan
said adding that those words would be necessary only if Obama said
the annihilation of Armenians had been a state program.

"We shouldn’t be inspired by Great Tragedy, since they translate it
as they wish avoiding Genocide term. It’s not an honest approach,"
ARF politician said.

Manoyan deeply signifies Obama to use Genocide. If Obama says
Genocide, it will become a green light for many countries to call
those massacres Genocide.

Ankara. Mayis Alizadeh -APA. "Armenia tries to oppress Turkey with
its unilateral decisions instead of making steps towards peace in the
region. This is very wrong way because no one can press upon Turkey.

If Armenia withdraws its troops from the occupied lands and chooses way
of friendship with Turkey and Azerbaijan, it will save its future",
chairman of the Turkish parliament’s NATO Group and MP from the
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Vahid Erdem told APA Turkish
bureau. He said last decision of the Armenia’s coalition government
proved that Turkey was right. "First condition for peace and stability
in the region is the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the Armenian
occupation. While Turkey is demanding that, Armenia chose the way of
"freezing" the protocols instead of meeting this fair demand".

Answering the question "The situation requires closer cooperation
between Turkey and Azerbaijan. Do you think to visit Baku with
this aim?" Erdem said: "I am natural friend of Azerbaijan, but not
on papers. I have not received invitation from Azerbaijan yet. If
I receive it, I will go to Baku to do my best. I talked with the
Azerbaijani journalists in Turkish at a press conference at the
Azerbaijani parliament after the NATO PA meeting in Baku and it
confused some Western parliamentarians".
