ISRAEL TO DELIVER UNMANNED JETS WORTH OVER $300M TO AZERBAIJAN

Israel has signed a large military contract with Azerbaijan. According
to an Israeli Zman website, the Israel “Aviation industry” has signed a
contract with Azerbaijan for the supply of some tens of unmanned jets.

The negotiations between the parties lasted long enough and
successful. This is a significant contract in excess of such an
agreement with Turkey, which was estimated by experts at $300m.

Earlier, Azerbaijan agreed with Israel to purchase arms for a total
of $1.6bn. According to The Jerusalem Post, the arms to Azerbaijan
will be supplied by state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

Earlier, in April 2011, IAI planned to sell Heron and Searcher Mk.2
unmanned jets to Azerbaijan.

Flightglobal assumes that the Azerbaijani military could use them
in monitoring gas and oil pipelines along with execution of purely
military tasks.

PanARMENIAN.Net – Director of the Institute of CIS Countries commented
on Azerbaijan’s complaint to the UN Secretary-General of conduction
of a military parade in Stepanakert on May 9.

“Had Azerbaijan not maintained war rhetoric and threatened to use
force, perhaps it would have had the moral basis to be alarmed,”
Konstantin Zatulin told a press conference.

According to him, Baku’s militaristic stance was conveyed in both
the statements of Azerbaijan’s officials, including Ilham Aliyev and
the state policy of the country, whose military budget exceeds that
of Armenia.

The politician further slammed Azeri authorities’ decision to declare
everyone to have visited Nagorno Karabakh Republic persona non grata.

PanARMENIAN.Net – CIS States Institute director commented on the
conflict between Armenian population of Russian city of Sochi and
Dagestan and Chechnya nationals working at Olympic construction in
the city.

“I don’t believe any third side to have caused the clashes between
the workers and Sochi’s Armenian population,” Kostantin Zatulin told
a news conference in Yerevan.

According to the Russian politician, “one doesn’t expect high levels
of sophistication from construction workers.”

Clashes between Armenian and Dagestan nationals have been reported at
Sochi’s Adler region for several days. According to official sources,
Armenian youth started the fight, while trying to protect Armenian
girls from abusive behavior of the Dagestanis.

Armenia Awards Largest-Ever Roads Contract

ARMENIA AWARDS LARGEST-EVER ROADS CONTRACT

Wed May 30th 2012

Isolux Corsan is to construct more than 550km of roads under what is
described as Armenia’s largest-ever roads contract.

The company beat five other bidders mostly of Chinese origin to win
the contract, which will run through the Caucasus region in Armenian
and Georgian territory.

The is valued at US$250m (£159m) and is funded by the Armenian
government and the Asian Development Bank.

In the Caucasus region, Corsan-Corviam will build three sections:
Erivan-Ashtarak (11.7 km), Erivan-Ararat (38 km) and Ashtarak-Talin
(42 km), all of which form part of the corridor linking Central Asia
and Iran with Europe. The first section is to take 36 months, with
18 months allocated for sections two and three.

According to Ramon Aige, European area director for Corsan-Corviam,
“the uniqueness of the project lies not only in the size, but also
in the fact that Armenia is a country that does not have significant
activity in the construction sector, so beginning the works in a place
without prior implantation requires a special effort in developing
the project.”

Ignacio Campos, commercial director in India said: “This award allows
us to position ourselves in a new high-potential market.”

Elections Are Discredited

ELECTIONS ARE DISCREDITED

Story from Lragir.am News:

Published: 14:59:42 – 30/05/2012

The Constitutional Court has recessed for deliberations after which
it will rule in connection with the ANC request to declare the results
of the May 6 parliamentary elections invalid.

Congress presented a rich amount of facts about frauds and breaches
stating that more than half a million votes have been rigged in favor
of the Republican Party. ANC also believes that the 380 thousand
people who had voted by 11 o’clock were organized by the authorities,
and they were taken from constituency to constituency for multiple
voting. In addition, Congress believes that the voters underwent
administrative pressure and were bribed.

Almost the same was stated by the representative of the Prosperous
Armenia Party Vartan Oskanian, ARFD, Heritage and the Communistic
Party. The OSCE/ODHIR report, the CoE and other observers also speak
about the aforementioned breaches.

CEC and the Republican Party reject all the accusations. Anyway,
they don’t reject it but they just try to prove that these frauds
didn’t impact on the result of the election. The Constitutional Court
will also state that there were frauds but they didn’t influence the
election outcome.

At the same time, no one was brought to responsibility for the
disappearing ink, for the bribes, terror towards the voters, who
were terrorized at the administrative level. No one has said what
the amount of frauds is which would make the elections invalid.

ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan said in his speech at the Central
Election Commission that the frauds impacted the election outcome
and discredited the voting system of Armenia.

This is true, and it’s not about who was elected to parliament after
the elections, the problem is the lack of confidence in the electoral
system, the Constitutional Court, which Congress applied only not to
be charged with unsubstantiated statements. In fact, neither Congress
nor anyone else believes in the justice of the CC, which already before
the election had showed that it fulfills the orders of the power.

In the end, if the Constitutional Court had met the request of
the joint election headquarter to publish the list of voters, many
frauds would lack. But it didn’t rendering it evident that frauds
were being planned.

Many assess the May 6 election as the worst in the history. First
of all because the falsifications were so perfected that they seems
legitimate. And if previously, one could catch the falsifiers, this
time, one cannot even sue anybody.

What will the presidential elections be like? Its technology is
somewhat different, the struggle is too personalized, and if, during
the parliamentary elections, the struggle was for more or fewer seats
the party would take, during the presidential election the question
is – elected or not. And the confrontation is inevitable, unless,
of course, the fight will not be staged on a pre-agreed plan.

United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said the US prevents
Iran from developing a nuclear weapon at every cost, thenewstribe.com
reported.

The American envoy to Israel earlier said that the military option is
`fully available’ and the necessary planning has been done.

`We will do everything we can to prevent them from developing a
weapon,’ ABC News quoted him as saying.
Earlier, US Ambassador Dan Shapiro’s said on Israel’s Army Radio on
May 17 that Washington has a military contingency plan in case
`diplomatic talks’ fail to `pressure’ Iran successfully. He said the
option is not only `fully available’, but `ready.’

Now, a week on, Panetta said US officials `have plans to be able to
implement any contingency we have to in order to defend ourselves.’
However, Panetta said that the US still hopes that the conflict over
Iran’s nuclear ambitions can be `resolved diplomatically.’
Israel is the only country insisting on using military force to
pressure Iran away from a suspected nuclear weapon.

On
