AZERBAIJANI CRIMINAL RAMIL SAFAROV IS SENT TO AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijani criminal Ramil Safarov who has killed Armenian officer
Gurgen Margarian in Hungary and was sentenced to spend his whole life
in prison, now is sent to Azerbaijan.

As Azerbaijani 1news.az web-site informs the photos of Safarov in
Baku are already spread in Facebook social network.

The same source also informs that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
has already justified R. Safarov by his order.

Remind that on 2004 Azerbaijani militant R. Safarov has killed Armenian
officer Gurgen Margaryan in Budapest, Hungary. Safarov killed Margaryan
with ax while the latter was sleeping.

Despite of the terrible crime Safarov is considered to be a national
hero in Azerbaijan.

57-MEMBER LEBANESE DELEGATION IN ARTSAKH

A Lebanese delegation composed of 57 businessmen will be visiting
Karabakh on August 31-September 4. Besides official meetings, the
businessmen will get acquainted with the investment possibilities of
the country, as well as the current business and charity programs.

85 Armenian Lebanese businessmen are members of the ARI /Artsakh Roots
Investment Company/ registered in Cyprus. ARI provides low-interest
loans in Artsakh to the residents of Kashatagh and Shahumyan regions.

The company has already had 600 beneficiaries in Karabakh.

Benyamin Bchaqchyan, one of ARI shareholders, says their project
needs to be an example for the Armenian businessmen of other countries.

The Lebanese delegation will meet with president Bako Sahakyan and
prime minister Ara Harutyunyan. The businessmen will visit Shahumyan
and Kashatagh regions to meet those families who used the ARI loans.

In the course the meeting, Artsakh Fund will present cows to many
families. The Fund has been presenting cows to all the families living
in communities from Mrav to Arax which have the third and more kids.

Bien qu’il ait recu une invitation officielle de l’Iran, le president
Serge Sarkissian s’est abstenu de prendre part au sommet du Mouvement
des non-alignes (MNA) qui s’est ouvert jeudi a Teheran.

La reunion de deux jours reunit plus de trois dizaines de chefs d’Etat
ou de gouvernement ainsi que des hauts fonctionnaires des 120 pays
qui composent cette assemblee dans laquelle l’Armenie dispose d’un
statut d’observateur. C’est le plus grand evenement international se
deroulant en Iran depuis plus d’une decennie. Le gouvernement iranien
espère le mettre a profit pour allèger l’isolement international de
la Republique islamique.

Le president iranien Mahmoud Ahmadinejad avait envoye une invitation
officielle a Serge Sarkissian a travers son ministre de l’energie,
Majid Namjou, qui s’est rendue a Erevan en juin. Une agence de presse
iranienne citant l’ambassadeur d’Armenie en l’Iran, Grigor Arakelian,
avait annonce, la semaine dernière que le leader armenien assistera
au sommet.

Le service de presse presidentiel armenien n’a cependant pas
confirme l’information et il a ete annonce, mercredi, que l’Armenie
sera representee au sommet par le ministre des Affaires etrangères
Edouard Nalbandian. Le bureau a refuse jeudi de donner les motifs de
la decision de Sarkissian.

Les Etats-Unis ont decourage les dirigeants des pays amis ainsi que
le Secretaire general de l’ONU Ban Ki-moon, de participer a ce sommet
en raison du bras de fer continu de l’Iran avec l’Occident au sujet
de son programme nucleaire controverse.

BURBANK–To meet the crucial need of insuring the wellbeing
and prosperity of its community’s youth, the Homenetmen Glendale
“Ararat” Chapter and the Woodbury University Center for Leadership
in cooperation with the ANCA PN have launched and announced their
ambitious new plan to host their inaugural ‘Elevate 2012â~@² Leadership
Development Conference Seminar Series in late September.

The partnership was formed earlier this year by concerned community
leaders who recognized its tremendous and immediate need and was
established in response to growing community calls for a vehicle to
exist which develops and instills within its youth the leadership
skills that elevate and empower them to become productive citizens
and influential members of society.

The first of its kind, the conference’s primary focus is to identify,
motivate and train future Armenian-American community leaders and
build an accomplished core of model citizens who are wholly prepared
to act as the agents of positive change both within and outside of
their culture and respective communities.

The inaugural ‘Elevate 2012â~@² Leadership Development Conference
Seminar is expected to draw over 230 attendees and will feature

JUSTICE MINISTER: NUMBER OF ARMENIAN PUBLIC DEFENDERS INCREASES

The number of public defenders increases in Armenia, Armenian Justice
Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.

There are 32 public defenders providing free lawyer services to people
in Armenia.

According to the Minister, the number of public defenders will increase
by 18 totaling 50.

The Armenian government is likely to further amend Law on Advocacy
to stipulate that every lawyer must provide free legal services to
low-income people over a certain period of time, Tovmasyan added.

BELGIAN-ARMENIAN SINGER TO STAR AS GANGSTER’S WIFE IN THRILLER

YEREVAN. – Belgian-Armenian R&B singer Karine Ohanian was in Armenia
on private visit. In an exclusive interview to Armenian News-NEWS.am
Ohanian, who has registered significant successes in career in the
recent year, talks about her career plans and programs. Joint video
premiere by Karine and Ron Caroll will be released in October, while
Karine’s actress debut will come next year. She is going to star at a
European biographic thriller. The movie, telling about the most famous
Belgian gangster, claims to become a bestseller, while Karine will
star as the wife of the gangster. During her short visit to Armenia
the singer has received many offers of cooperation, in particular,
she is likely to cooperate with Con alma jazz band.

It is about ten years you were not in Armenia. Please tell us how
do you feel? What changes have you seen? Besides, although you made
a private visit, have you met the representatives of the local show
business?

I have very good impressions about Armenia, a lot has changed. People
have changed as well, they smile more. I visited Armenia to attend
a wedding. I have given several interviews. I was here just for ten
days and I have so much to do. But everything was very good and I
have to be back to Belgium today.

What news had you had in your career this year? I am aware that you
have signed new contracts, new producers will work with you. What
about that?

I was very positive and I felt like everything is going to be
very quick. But I visited the U.S. two months ago and signed a new
contract. I will release my new CD in October, which is created with
Ron Caroll

Do you write your songs?

Yes, I write the words and music. My producer is one of the best
producers of Belgium. In addition, I worked with various producers
in the U.S.

Will you describe your music?

I like ballads and slow songs, but the first three songs to come soon
are more of R&B and pop. I may say that my songs are more preferable
for radios and clubs.

We have several celebrity singers worldwide whose songs do contain
Armenian melodies. Is it the same with you?

I must say that there is an Armenian tune in my voice, it is
unwillingly inside me. I think about using Armenian words in my songs
for my fans to remember them easily.

What new offers have you received in the United States?

I met with Caroll, besides, lots of new people. As a matter of fact,
my next producer is quite famous but I will not open the secret yet.

Besides, your CDs and videos to be released in October, what other
projects do you have?

I am dealing with presenting various brands in Belgium. They especially
got active after knowing about my US contract. I am very glad that
they believe I may succeed. I am looking forward to my CD and see
how people accept it.

Prior to becoming a singer, you were very successful in fashion art,
in particular as a model. Have you stopped it?

No, I still work as a model, and I believe I will never stop it, as
generally actresses and singers after all become a face of a certain
brand. I will never stop dealing with fashion as I love it.

What brand do you cooperate with?

I cooperate with a brand dealing with diamond and jewelry industry,
which occupies a leading position in Belgium.

Do you still deal with organizational works, in particular organizing
contests for children?

I should have said that I stopped it about two years ago. I used to
organize the Miss Little Armenia and to find talented children rather
than defining a beautiful one.

Maybe it is a bit confidential but did you get offers for casting in
a movie in Hollywood?

I have big projects in Belgium. I cannot mention names, I am sorry.

But I will just say that I will cast in a Belgian movie about a famous
gangster. I will star as the gangster’s wife, while my partner is
a famous actor, I will just say that he was a nominee for Cannes
Festival and Oscar. I guess it is a huge step for me.

When the movie premiere is scheduled for?

The book will be published on Sept 13, while the movie castings will
start in the midst of the next year. The movie will be in French and
I improve my language, as it is going to be my film debut.

ARMENIA TO GROW SUPER ELITE WHEAT SEEDS

YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia has elaborated a
program, targeted at stimulating the production of wheat seeds with a
high degree of reproduction (“super elite” and “elite”). The program on
the wheat seeds with a high degree of reproduction for the period of
2012 to 2017, which was submitted for the approval of the Government,
stated that Armenia’s consumption level makes 528,000 to 581,000
tons annually. At the same time the country only produced 198,100,
183,500 and 224,000 tons or 34.7-38.6 percent during 2009, 2010 and
2011 respectively. Hence, satisfying the needs of own production of
wheat is rather low. The program is targeted at raising the “super
elite” and “elite” wheat production to 5,500 tons by 2017.

CHILD DROWNED IN YEREVAN’S VARDAVAR LAKE

YEREVAN. – A 12-year-old child fell in the Vardavar Lake in Yerevan,
and rescuers were required in order to save the child’s life, Armenian
Ministry of Emergency Situations informs. The rescuers received the
alarm at 4.00 p.m. on Thursday. Rescuers and paramedics arrived at the
site, the Ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am, and took the body of
a-12-year-old Sargis Klekchyan out of the lake. As the agency informed,
earlier a teenager drowned in Lake Sevan in Armenia’s Gegharkunik
Region. Rescuers took out of the water the body of Astghadzor village
resident 15-year-old Arabo Shahbayan at 4.45 p.m.

AZERI ASSASSIN SAFAROV FULFILLED STATE ORDER, KILLING ARMENIAN OFFICER – LAWYER

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan’s assassin Ramil
Safarov fulfilled Azerbaijan’s state order, lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan
said.

“I am of the same opinion as I was eight years ago. It was a state
order,” she told a press conference in Yerevan Thursday, Aug 30.

According to her, Azeri authorities from the very beginning were
actively involved in the lawsuit, trying hard to mitigate Safarov’s
sentence.

“Azerbaijan even established an embassy in Budapest, with
representatives of Azeri and Turkish embassies present at court
hearings,” Ms. Vardanyan said, adding that Safarov was later announced
a national hero in Azerbaijan.

In this context, she quoted Azerbaijan’s Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova
and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev as saying, “Safarov must set an
example for the young generation” and “Armenians must be killed in
Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Lieutenant of the Armenian Armed Forces Gurgen Margaryan, 26, was
hacked to death, while asleep, by a fellow Azerbaijani participant,
lieutenant Ramil Safarov, in Budapest during a three-month English
language course in the framework of NATO-sponsored Partnership for
Peace program.

On April 13, 2006, Budapest District Court sentenced Safarov to life
in prison for murdering Margaryan. On February 22, 2007, Budapest
Court rejected the Azerbaijani military officer’s appeal against the
verdict, precluding possibility of pardon for the initial 30 years.

By a decree of then-President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, officer
Margaryan was awarded with a posthumous Medal for Courage on February
19, 2005.

THE SLAUGHTER OF ARMENIAN FAMILY HAS NOT BEEN PROVED AND MESROP CHINCHINYAN WOUNDED IN ALEPPO DIED

YEREVAN, AUGUST 30, ARMENPRESS: The murder of six members of Armenian
family has not been proved,Tigran Balayan, the press secretary of
Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Armenpress.

There was an information spread on August 29 that armed group kidnapped
citizens, including women from Damascus’ Zamakalka suburb.

The kidnapped were killed right in front of the people, bodies were
gathered in Ash Shaik Mosque. According to non-official sources six
members of Armenian family were in the list of the murdered.

Aleppo Armenians informs that Mesrop Chinchinyan who was wounded
about two weeks ago in his office in one of Aleppo’s districts died.

Although after hospitalizing he underwent surgery and was in stable
condition doctors were not able to save his life. His funeral took
place on August 30.

Syrian Armed Forces continue pursuing armed gangs in Damascus’ Zamalqa
suburb. In a result of clashes many of militants were wounded and
killed, great quantity of weapon was confiscated.

In a result of the clashes of government and opposition forces more
then a dozen Armenians has died in Syria. 47 Syrian families have
requested to the State Migration service of Armenia.
