In celebration of the opening of the Armenian Heritage Park on the
Greenway, the Armenian Heritage Foundation will host a human rights
lecture in Boston with Edward P. Djerejian, an Armenian ambassador
from the United States.

The lecture will take place Thursday, Oct. 25, at Faneuil Hall at 7
p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Djerejian was nominated by former President Bill Clinton to serve as
an ambassador, and had worked in federal government since John F.

Kennedy’s presidency. Djerejian served as US ambassador to Israel
from 1992-1994 and to the Syrian Arab Republic from 1988-1991.

After his retirement from government in 1994, he became founding
director of the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University.

He published a book, Danger and Opportunity: An American Ambassador’s
Journey Through the Middle East, in 2008.

Among his many awards and honors, Djerejian was elected a Fellow of
the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001 and named to the
Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

According to the Armenian Heritage Foundation, the Faneuil Hall
lectures are rooted in history. New England residents would flock
to the area from 1895 to 1918 to hear the eyewitness accounts of the
atrocities taking place against the Armenian minority of the Ottoman
Empire, and spoke passionately about the urgent need for intervention.

Many who heard these accounts were moved to action, including
distinguished Boston-area residents like Julia Ward Howe, Clara Barton,
Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Alice Stone Blackwell.

Did They See Kocharyan’s "Ears"?

DID THEY SEE KOCHARYAN’S “EARS”?
JAMES HAKOBYAN

Story from Lragir.am News:

Published: 10:30:48 – 24/10/2012

Answering critics of the ANC’s “political” cooperation with Prosperous
Armenia Party, the leader of the Armenian National Congress and his
colleagues state that Kocharyan’s “ears” are not visible behind the
Prosperous Armenia Party and Serzh Sargsyan’s “ears” are behind those
who say Kocharyan is behind the PAP.

On October 23 the head of the ANC parliamentary group Levon Zurabyan
told RFE/RL Armenian service that after reelection, Serzh Sargsyan
will try to desolate the political field. According to him, it first
of all means to eliminate those factors which have an economic and
financial capacity, in other words, Robert Kocharyan, Gagik Tsarukyan
and his Prosperous Armenia Party, said Levon Zurabyan.

Actually, the head of the ANC parliamentary group confirms that one
can see Kocharyan’s “ears” behind the PAP.

If Serzh Sargsyan is a real threat to Robert Kocharyan’s property,
and if Levon Zurabyan understands this, Robert Kocharyan himself who
knows the essence of the crystallized system better will understand
it better.

Consequently, if Kocharyan knows and understands everything as well as
Zurabyan, then he must realize all the threats and naturally he will
try to resist. In other words, Kocharyan can’t be aware of threats
and stay at home waiting for Serzh Sargsyan to eliminate him.

Kocharyan has to resist and the best ally he could ever find for this
task is Gagik Tsarukyan, and as Zurabyan says, Serzh Sargsyan wants to
deprive Tsarukyan of his property too. Consequently, even if we assume
that Kocharyan and Tsarukyan do not share their properties, their
interests will be the same. So, the cooperation between Tsarukyan and
Kocharyan becomes no less logical than the Congress-PAP cooperation.

Questions arouse relating to the Congress’ arguments regarding
Kocharyan’s “ears” and the end of his political career. Now it is
found out that Kocharyan exists and one of the major tasks of Sargsyan
will be to deprive him of his levers. Meanwhile, if he has levers,
it becomes illogical to affirm Kocharyan is not a factor any more.

It is only left to find out why the Congress members started suddenly
seeing Kocharyan’s “ears”. Have they forgot about their previous
statements? Do they think the society has forgotten them? But it is not
a matter of memory. The Congress seems to be caught in the political
net it had woven where there are so many “ears” that it is difficult
to see which belongs to Kocharyan in order to hide them carefully.
