51 authors from Armenia to participate in the all-Armenian conference of writers

51 authors from Armenia will participate in the second all-Armenian
conference of writers to be held April 6-9 in Beirut.

Secretary of the Union of Writers of Armenia Hovhannes Grigoryan told
” Armenpress” that the Armenian delegation will include writers from
Artsakh and Javakhk. Authors from Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Egypt,
Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, Georgia,
USA and Canada have applied for participation in the conference.

The conference titled “Contemporary Armenian Literature and the
International Challenges” has been initiated by the Head of the Union
of Writers Levon Ananyan and Aram A Catholicos of the Great House of
Cilikia. The latter has taken the expenses of organizing the gathering.

According to Hovhannes Grigoryan, exhibitions of books will
be organized in he framework of the conference. Visits to
Lebanese-Armenian community and Armenian schools are also expected.

The two previous all-Armenian conferences were held in Armenia and
Artsakh.

YEREVAN, MARCH 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The “Armenia’s Tree Planting
Program” published “To sow idea is the same that to plant a tree”
nature protectional handbook for teachers of natural sciences of
comprehensive schools. As author Carla Wesley informed during the
presentation of the handbook on March 30, the book published with
1500 copies print run will be given freely to schools of Armenia. She
also informed that re-training courses for natural sciences teachers
will be organized soon. According C.Wesley, principles of the nature
protectional education, methodics of teaching problems of nature
protection are presented in a comprehensive way in the handbook. The
author mentioned that the handbook envisaged for the 4-9th grades
may have a great role in the ecological education of children. Both
issues concerning nature protection and Martiros Sarian’s canvases,
Hovhannes Toumanian’s poems, in which the nature of Armenia is brighly
pictured are presented in the book. It was also mentioned that the
“Armenia’s Tree Planting Program” founded in 1994 planted about 750
thousand trees in about 600 settlements of Armenia in 2005, and about
170 thousand trees are envisaged to plant this year.

Last yea’s winners of the American Green Card lottery will
not apparently have to leave for Tbilisi or Moscow for further
follow-up. According to unofficial information, beginning from April
1 they will be interviewed in the compound of the US Embassy in
Yerevan. Likewise, interviews with Armenian citizens with permanent
living visas and permits will also be held in Yerevan.

In other words, this innovation justifies the sizes of one of the
biggest US embassies in the world.

INTER RAO UES TO INVEST $17MLN IN “ELECTRICITY NETWORK OF ARMENIA” IN 2006

YEREVAN, March 29. /ARKA/. INTER RAO UES intends to invest a total of
$17mln in “Electricity Networks of Armenia” in 2006, Director General
of INTER RAO UES Yevgeny Dod told reporters in Moscow. “The funds
will be allocated besides the $35mln Japanese credit for Armenia’s
power grid,” he said.

According to Dod, the Russian funds will be directed to the purchase of
wires, electric meters, control systems and replacement of equipment.

Speaking of the company’s investment plans in Armenia, Dod reported
that $17mln are also expected to be invested in Yerevan Hydro
and Argel Hydro, which form part of the Sevan-Hrazdan coordinated
hydro-power system.

INTER RAO UES holds 100% of the “Electricity Networks of Armenia”
CJSC, Sevan-Hrazdan coordinated hydro-power system, as well as is
the financial managers of the Armenian nuclear-power plant.

Privatization Process In NKR To Be Completed In Near Future

The process of the state property’s privatization that began in the
Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR) September 1995 will soon be completed,
chief of the State Property Management and Privatization Department
of the NKR Ministry for Territorial Management and Development of
Infrastructures Arsen Abramyan told De Facto agency.

He stated that by January 1, 2006, 905 small objects and objects of
incomplete construction had been transferred to private property,
or the privatization’s state program has been implemented for 95%.

Arsen Abramyan informed that the amount of 1 milliard 385 million drams
had passed to the NKR budget via the state property’s privatization
by current January 1.

A treaty is signed between a state representative and a new owner. In
case the agreement is not executed the measures provided by law
are implemented towards the latter, including a privatized object’s
confiscation by order of the court.

Dwellers of the Northern Avenue, Dalma Parks, Buzand Street and Tbilisi
Highway gathered today in front of the Yerevan City Hall, demanding to
resume their violated rights and provide corresponding reimbursement.

Although their case is being currently considered at the Constitutional
Court, the anxiety of the dwellers does not reduce. They assert that
the violations against them still continue.

in Karabakh”

OSCE Fact Investigation mission will arrive to Karabakh in June to
investigate hostage issue.

Fact investigation mission is due to investigate all illegal actions
of separatists in Karabakh, including destruction of forests and
national parks, head of the Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno
Karabakh, Nizami Bakhmanov told Trend.

Armenian separatists are cutting down the platan forests, which are
part of the State Protected Area Basitchay at the Zangillan district.

The Ecology Ministry has already addressed the international
organizations on that issue.
`OSCE Fact Investigation mission will arrive this June to investigate
the problem of hostages.

They should also investigate the cutting down of the rare platan
forests in the area. The mission has recently investigated the fact
of resettling the non-native Armenians in Karabakh and has confirmed
it.

The report on the results of the investigation was presented to OSCE
member countries and co-chairmen of the Minsk group.

Despite, Armenian side ignores all legal international norms and
treaties of the international organizations; this document was issued
in our favor. If the fact of destruction of the rare forests in
Karabkh will be confirmed the world will know about it. And that will
be in Azerbaijan’s favor, Bahramov said.

Armenians cut and export red oak-tree and other rare species of
trees, rob our forests and other natural resources not only in
Zangilan, but also in Lachin.

The Hnchaks Social – Democratic party made a decision to change `its
strategy and to return to Armenia in case of probability and to expand
its activities in the Motherland.’ The representatives of the central
department of the party informed the Chairman of the RA National
Assembly Arthur Baghdasarian about their decision and the latter
approved of it.

The party which has bodies in 14 countries of the world decided in the
conference to open offices in European capitals especially in Brussels
in order to expand lobbing activity.

Today the US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans officially gave Armen
Haroutyunyan, the commander of the RA frontier troops, the keys of the
reconstructed center of RA frontier troops in Yerevan. The US Embassy
has spent 130 thousand USD for the reconstruction of the building for
the last year. The reconstruction was carried out within the framework
of the program `Combat Against Drugs and Law Enforcement Cooperation’.

The US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans explained the interest of the
US Embassy in the reconstruction of the educational center, `It is not
a secret that there are dangerous people who try to traffic dangerous
goods. I mean weapons of mass destruction, trafficking of people, as
well as smuggling. The investments made by the Embassy proceed from
the interests of Armenia. Giving the center a reconstructed building
we wish the RA frontier troops success’, the Ambassador said in his
speech.

According to the commander of the RA frontier troops Armen
Haroutyunyan, the investments of the RA Government contribute to the
security of the RA state borders.
