Successful Evening of Networking among California Businesses at Marani Vodka
and Cigar Night EAST Hosted by FED

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Foundation for Economic Development of California
(FED), a contractor for the California Trade Office (CATO), hosted its
second social event, the Marani Vodka and Cigar Night East, on Tuesday, June
12 at Pasadena’s famous Esquire Bar & Lounge. In attendance of the
social-business mixer were representatives from various industries in
addition to members of the Armenian Assembly, Armenian National Committee
(ANC) and representatives from The Republic of Armenia Consulate Generals
Office.

This mixer was organized by the FED in order to enhance networking among
various industries in Southern California. "This is a great chance for
business people to socialize and get to know each other. Social business
mixers such as this one allow people to get to know what CATO and the FED
are all about and what we’re trying to accomplish on a social basis, which
is to strengthen economic ties between the great state of California and the
Caucus region of the world," said FED Executive Director and CATO
International Trade Specialist Johnny Nalbandian.

Those who attended the event enjoyed a gourmet California style buffet with
several original dishes including fresh salmon wrapped in grape leaves. The
night was also enhanced by a strolling guitarist who played flamenco music
throughout the evening.

Guests also enjoyed a martini bar stocked with Marani vodka, one of the FED’s
corporate sponsors. Marani is a spirits producer whose vodka is made in
Armenia and is enriched with organic Armenian honey. Their products can be
purchased in over 1,000 stores nation-wide such as Safeway’s Vons/Pavilions
supermarket chain and will soon be available at establishments such as Ralph’s
Markets and California Pizza Kitchen Restaurants.

Similar to the Marani Vodka and Cigar Night West, another co-sponsor of the
event was Forbidden Johnny, a new XX-Calvados apple brandy with a uniquely
designed bottle that holds a cigar inside. A glassful of this brandy and
fresh rolled handmade cigars were made available to the guests throughout
the evening by Old Oaks Cigar & Liquor of Thousand Oaks, who carries this
famous brandy among others on its shelves.

Nic Nak Clothing, another California based company, sponsored the remaining
portion of the FED’s budget for the event in honor of their first shipment
of their new children’s line of high end trendy knitwear, produced and
hand-knitted in Armenia. The company was, in fact, so pleased with its
relationship with CATO, that Jamie Nakkashian, the designer of this new
apparel said, "The California Trade Office has done an awesome job helping
our company with this transaction and production."

FED board members also held a raffle at the event that included sponsored
prizes and gifts from various members of the California business community.
Raffle gift sponsors included Marani Spirits, Forbidden Johnny, Sun
Plastics, Esquire Bar & Lounge, Nic Nak Clothing, Alunna Optical, Old Oaks
Cigar & Liquor and J III & Company Personal Training.

A great success as over eighty different businesspeople of both Armenian
descent and other ethnic backgrounds attended. Several business owners,
corporate executives, professionals and investors were able to socialize
with one another and exchanged business cards. "We will be organizing more
events from time to time to try to bring business people together, both from
the Armenian-American community and others as well," said Nalbandian. "It
is one of our goals to get other ethnic communities beyond
Armenian-Americans interested in the FED’s work with CATO."

Although the FED does not have any future social-business mixers planned at
this time, they are eager to host a business town hall meeting in the fall
with the Armenian Consulate Generals Office, Armenian American Chamber of
Commerce and California Trade Office. The focal point of this town hall
meeting will be trade and the importing and exporting of several different
products. This same group of agencies is also planning a three-day trade
expo and conference that will take place in the spring. The dates for these
events will be announced at a further date.

Statement Of The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Of Armenia On President

STATEMENT OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF ARMENIA ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH

Lragir, Armenia
July 23 2007

We welcome the presidential elections held in Nagorno-Karabakh on
July 19. Nearly 80% of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh participated in
these elections. These elections are the most recent in some dozen
presidential, parliamentary, and local election polls, as well as a
constitutional referendum, held since 1991.

This is just one expression of the commitment the people of
Nagorno-Karabakh have made to democracy and rule of law. Legitimately
elected authorities have succeeded in securing the safety and stability
of that region even in the absence of a permanent settlement.

Various OSCE and other international documents clearly indicate that
not only should Nagorno-Karabakh be a party to settlement negotiations,
but that their elected authorities should represent them.

To dismiss these or any elections is disingenuous and simply contrary
to modern political values. Further, rejection cannot be understood
given the fact that in other areas of the world, in places where final
political status and settlement are also absent, such elections are
indeed supported, promoted, observed and encouraged.

The people of Nagorno-Karabakh remain committed to resolving the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through negotiations to reach a peaceful,
lasting settlement.

Unlike in other conflicts, in Karabakh, the population has always
had to ensure its own security without the help of the international
community. In the same way, they have also succeeded in securing
their own democratic processes and domestic stability.

Le dilemme des =?unknown?q?minorit=E9s?= non musulmanes

Le Figaro, France
21 juillet 2007

Le dilemme des minorités non musulmanes;

EU Not To Recognize Independence Of Nagorno-Karabakh

EU NOT TO RECOGNIZE INDEPENDENCE OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH

People’s Daily Online, China
July 21 2007

The European Union (EU) stressed on Friday that it does not recognize
the independence of Nagorno- Karabakh or the legitimacy of Thursday’s
"presidential elections" in the conflict zone.

In a statement issued by the European Commission, the EU reiterated
its firm support to the OSCE Minsk Group and its efforts toward a
peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

It also urged the concerned parties to intensify their efforts to
find a negotiated solution to the conflict.

Meanwhile, the EU expressed the hope that refugees and
internally-displaced persons should be given the right to a safe,
secure and dignified return of their homes in the region.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a region in Azerbaijan populated mostly by ethnic
Armenians. Armed conflict broke out in the early 1990s between
Azerbaijan and Armenia over the region’s status after it declared
independence, which was not recognized by the international community
except Armenia.

A ceasefire deal was reached in 1994 after mediation by the Minsk
Group, set up by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in
Europe (OSCE). However, disputes still remain between Armenia and
Azerbaijan on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.

d’extreme-droite, s’est ouvert debut juillet a Istanbul.

Armeniens".

Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Leo Sarkisian intern
and Orange County native Alex Der Alexanian met with Rep. Ed Royce
(R-CA-40) in his Washington, DC office thanking him for his ongoing
support of Armenian Genocide legislation and exploring avenues to
increase support for this key human rights legislation, the Armenian
Genocide Resolution.

"The Genocide Resolution is currently at a crucial stage with the
majority of the House of Representatives as cosponsors" said Der
Alexanian. "I appreciated the opportunity to Visitwith Rep. Royce to
have a greater understanding of the political dynamics surrounding
the consideration of this measure and explore ways we can increase
Congressional support."

Der Alexanian and ANCA Legislative Affairs Director Raffi
Karakashian discussed an array of Armenian American concerns with
Rep. Royce. Following the discussion, Der Alexanian proceeded to
thank the Congressman for cosponsoring for H. Res 106 and urged him to
encourage his colleagues to do the same. Der Alexanian, is a student

LAWYERS OF ZHIRAYR SEFILYAN AND VARDAN MALKHASYAN DEMAND ACQUITTAL FOR THEIR CLIENTS

arminfo

The lawyers of Zhirayr Sefilyan and Vardan Malkhasyan, heads of
public organizations who are kept in custody, demand acquittal for
their clients.

To recall, the trial is postponed till July 24. The detainees are
accused of public calls for overthrow of the Constitutional order in
the country.

Seflyan’s lawyer Vahe Grigoryan said at Friday Discussion Club that
the accusation of illegal keeping of weapons made against Sefilyan
is silly as Sefilyan’s piston is nominal. It is a gifted by the
former Commander of NKR Defence Army Samvel Babayan. Sefilyan has a
relevant document signed not only by Samvel Babayan, but also by three
high-ranking officers of the Defence Army as required. "It is clear
why the court took a 11-day pause before considering our petitions
for changing the measure of restraint. The case is disintegrating
before their eyes and judges just temporize," Vahe Grigoryan said.

For his part, Vardan Malkhasyan’s lawyer, Mushegh Shushanyan said
that immediately after Malkhasyan’s arrest, the National Security
Service offices advised his client to "regret for the calls made on
December 2 at the assembly of the Union of Volunteers, otherwise
all the 30 participants in the assembly will be arrested for
accompliceship. Malkhasyan had to agree on their proposal to save
his colleagues. However, neither Sefilyan nor he have pled guilty,"
the lawyer said.
