The seminar, hosted by Armenians and Progressive Politics, featured Detective Christopher Clay from the Glendale Police Department Violent Crimes-Sexual Assault unit and Dr. Ani Karayan, Ph.D., clinical psychologist.

“Our goal with this event was to bring attention to the realities of what sexual assault looks like in the age of social media,” said Alik Ourfalian, one of the organizers of the event. “By starting this conversation in our communities, we aim to raise awareness about what sexual assault is, how to prevent it, and how to support survivors who hav experienced it.”

Detective Clay began the evening by shedding light on the realities of online communications. He stressed the potential of victimization of unsuspecting adolescents on online platforms and urged parents to remain vigilant and monitor their children’s online activity. Dr. Karayan then covered the potential consequences on victims’ mental health, as well as how parents can approach such subjects with their children and the available resources they can turn to. With most in attendance being parents of teenagers, the speakers answered numerous questions from the attendees.

The sentiment among those in attendance was that conversations of sexual assault awareness and prevention are crucial in our communities. Attendees urged the organizers and speakers to host subsequent events around the topic so that such discussions can be widespread in our communities.

World’s highest mountain organic vineyard founded in Armenia

March 9 2022

PanARMENIAN.Net - Winemaking advances to the mountains: at an altitude of 2080 meters above the sea level, next to Smbataberd and Tsaghats Kar, is the organic vineyard of Maran company. The Company has founded the highest vineyard in the organic world with the philosophy of preserving and balancing biodiversity.

Maran is the first private wine producer in independent Armenia and now it is one of the pioneers in organic winemaking.

When Founder of Maran company, Avag Harutyunyan, was founding the organic vineyard with his sons, he knew that there were going to be bigger expenses and more difficulties. They needed reliable partners who would go down that road together with them.

Maran took part in the Organic Agriculture Development program, implemented jointly by ACBA Bank and German Nature Protection Union (NABU) and received a certificate of an organic wine maker.

“When we were planting this vineyard, from the beginning we had the understanding that we were taking a great weight on our shoulders. You have to grow it for a long time, to have crops later. If not for the support from ACBA Bank and NABU, we wouldn’t have managed to overcome this situation. We have planted the vineyard not touching any bushes or stones. We have tried not to touch the landscape. We have used only organic materials to grow healthy,

Maran is now exported to more than ten countries – Australia, Thaiwan, China, Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, France, U.S. etc.

Armenian citizen’s deportation from Russia to Azerbaijan is prevented, this person is returned to Armenia

 NEWS.am
Armenia – Feb 16 2022

The erroneous deportation of an Armenian citizen born in Azerbaijan to the latter was prevented as a result of cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Offices of Armenia and Russia, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.

In view of the fact that this person had committed an administrative offense in Russia, a Russian court had ruled that this individual should be held administratively liable and be deported from Russia.

But in the introductory part of this decision, the court had erroneously stated that this person was an Azerbaijani citizen, in which case there was a risk of deportation to Azerbaijan.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia took measures to stop this deportation process—and by engaging the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and the authorized state agencies of Armenia in resolving this matter.

With the assistance of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, this matter was presented to the Russian court that had made the above-mentioned decision. As a result, this court changed the inaccuracy in this decision, and this person was returned to Armenia.
