/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkey is against the proposal on locating elements
of American PRO system on its territory for fear of jeopardizing
relations with Russia and Iran. U.S. President Barrack Obama has
proposed Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan to locate "anti-missile
shield" on Turkish territory. The proposal was made last week during
negotiations in Washington. Turkish media report that Ankara has
disapproved the initiative.

"According to preliminary assessments, military and pro-government
circles are inclined to believe that such PRO will make Turkey a
direct shooting mark for Iranian short- and medium- ranged rockets.

Besides, there are concerns that the project will create tensions in
relationship with Russia, leading to ‘cold war’ atmosphere despite
Turkey’s ‘friendship with neighbors’ policy."

Turkish and Western media have several times released information
on United States plans to locate elements of PRO system in Turkey,
but Turkish officials did not confirm such information, RIA Novosti
reports.

The origin Armenian toponyms fall under renaming in Armenian-populated
Javakheti, Georgia, told at today’s press conference the historian
and analyst Vahe Sarkisyan.

"Actually, the origin Armenian toponyms have now ‘i’ at the end of the
English-written signposts," he said. The numerous ‘Big’ and ‘Small’
prefixes are also ‘translated’ into Georgian, he said.

This is an obvious violation of the some international laws and
conventions, in particular, the Framework Convention for the Protection
of National Minorities which was ratified by Georgian government in
2005. It came into force in Georgia on April 1 2006.

These actions glossly violate the Article 11 of the Framework
Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, says Vahe
Sarkisyan. Besides, Georgian government has adopted a resolution to
Convention that allows running in accordance with the internal law,
he added.

"The Georgian government consider beside the purpose to ratify any
international conventions on national minorities. This is what must
be sat in judgment, I believe," he said.

TURKEY IS AT RISK OF DIVISION: DEVLET BAHCELI

News from Armenia – NEWS.am

"Turkey became a country that followed Greeks in Cyprus, Barzani
[Iraqi Kurdish leader Massoud] in Iraq, and Armenians in the Caucasus.

It gave Iraqi Turkmens a cold shoulder and made Azerbaijani brothers
upset. It also forgot our brothers in the Balkans," Hurriyet Daily
quotes the chairman of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli.

The source informs that at the Ankara meeting organized by MHP,
Bahceli reckoning Turkey is at risk of division. "Our country is now
facing much bigger and more important threats and risks," he stated.

The MHP leader directly addressed Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan,
saying, "As a prime minister, you are responsible for the safety of
the country. You don’t have the responsibility for those bloody-handed
terrorists but for innocent victims among our people.

Give up the destruction of this so-called initiative. You have
damaged our national values too much over the last seven years. You
encouraged those betrayers by asserting their ‘being from Turkey
and Turkish.’ You’ve invited the [terrorists] to negotiate at the
table and cooperated with Ymraly [the island where terrorist leader
Abdullah Ocalan is imprisoned]."
