TULIP JOSHI’S HOT AND SULTRY LOOKS SCORCH THE RAMP

Tulip Joshi is being seen in a new ‘Avtaar’ these days and the
shutterbugs seem to be the happiest of the lot. Tulip scorched the
ramp again reminiscent of her earlier days for Nisha Jamval fashion
show at Amara organized by Viren Shah last weekend. The concept of
the show was ‘Phoenix India’ and had celebs from different walks of
life strutting the ramp. Tulip looked resplendent and enchanting and
had the crowd raving about her. “It was exciting after a long hiatus
from the ramp. It’s been ages since I last walked the ramp. It was
deja vu!! But guess it was great fun and damn cool. The outfits too
looked pretty. I loved every bit of it,” expressed Tulip.
It was quite a bit of revelation since Tulip had earlier done a
contrasting de-glam avatar as Kalki in MATRUBHOOMI. Tulip who played
the girl next door Anjali in Yash Chopra’s dream debut MERE YAAR
KI SHAADI and then wowed the critics in a totally de-glam role as
Kalki in Mathrubhumi is all set for a total image make over in her
forthcoming films.
After her hard-hitting performance in MATRUBHOOMI, Tulip is all set to
sizzle and blaze the screen in a glamorous avatar in her forthcoming
HOSTEL and SHOONYA set to release this winter. “I am so excited to be
doing commercial cinema back again. Though I am proud of MATRUBHOOMI,
because it gave me an opportunity to showcase my acting skills in the
beginning of my career, I always relished doing mainstream films. I
want to play roles that would suit my age. MERI YAAR KI SHAADI and
DIL MAANGE MORE were essentially commercial films and I had a blast
shooting for it. “I would love to do roles that the youth would relate
to. I’m quite young and have a long way to go. I am also excited about
my forthcoming films that will project a glamorous image, which is
my real life image. Infact everyone teases me that I am essentially
a fashion child,” she said.
“Bollywood has changed so much and with so much influx of designers
in the industry, the look of the films have undergone a sea change. I
would really love to do light hearted campus capers that will appeal
to the youth. Even one of my forthcoming films deals with the issues
of the youth. I am looking forward to doing commercial cinema back
again,” she added
Incidentally Tulip is half Armenian, half Indian by birth and is a
fashionista in the true sense of the word. She will always be found
in a designer wear. Tulip swears by Prada, Armani, La Perla, Versace
and also has a collection of over 300 pairs of designer tinted glasses
from Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Dolce and Gabanna, Versace, etc.
Amongst her favorite Indian Designer is Varun Behl, a 3 times winner
in Milan and whose forte is designing the European line.
Those who have seen her latest photo-shoot pics. Swear by her hot and
sultry look. Definitely with her acting talent and gorgeous drop-dead
looks, Tulip is all set to sizzle in her glamorous avatar…
“Tulip looks luminous even when she is chained to a post in a cowshed
in MATRUBHOOMI,” as one of the critic sums it up best.

Turkish Former Foreign Minister: No Turkish Government Will Take Any
TURKISH FORMER FOREIGN MINISTER: NO TURKISH GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE ANY STEP CONCERNING ARMENIA WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH AZERBAIJAN
AZG Armenian Daily
30/08/2006
Abdullah Gul government’s foreign minister Yashar Yakish’s exclusive
interview to APA’s Turkey bureau.
Dossier: Yashar Yakish was born in Akchakoja district in Turkey. He
graduated from Ankara University, faculty of political sciences in
1962 and started working at the Foreign Ministry the same year. Mr.
Yakish worked in Turkish embassies in Lagos, Rome and Aleppo as well
as in Turkish permanent representation to NATO in different years. He
was appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia in 1988 and then ambassador
to Egypt and UN office in Vienna. Yakish was adviser on economic
affairs at the Foreign Ministry in 1992-1995 and retired on a pension
in 2001. He is one of the founders of the current ruling Justice and
Development Party. Yakish was elected parliament member from Duzja
in 2002, and was Foreign Minister in the 58th Abdullah Gul government.
Now he is the chair of Turkish Grand National Assembly standing
commission for European Union relations.
Yakish was awarded King Abdulaziz order by Saudi Arabian government
for his contributions to development of Turkey-Saudi Arabia relations.
– How do you assess the current situation regarding the settlement
of the Nagorno Garabagh conflict?
– I must say we were dissatisfied with the view appearing
after the February meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian
Presidents. International community does not exert pressure on
Armenia. If Armenia felt the least pressure of the international
community, it would refrain from its position, I think. During
the European Union meetings, they claimed we were wrong regarding
Turkey-Armenia relationships. We heard the claims such as Turkey should
take the initiative, “open the border”. In response to such claims,
we stress that Armenia should pull out its troops from the occupied
Azerbaijani territories and accept fair peace in Nagorno Garabagh.
In addition, Armenia has territorial claims against Turkey-they call
Eastern Anatolia “Western Armenia”.
We cannot possibly establish any relations with Armenia until it
refrains from these claims. No government in Turkey will take any
step to have relations with Armenia without consulting with Azerbaijan.
– US Congress subcommittee imposed veto on Eximbank to finance the
Kars-Akhalkhalak-Tbilisi-Baku railway line project. European Union
authorized representative Waldner also declared the EU will not finance
this project basing on Armenia’s remaining outside of this project.
– A railway line will connect three countries, and it is up to these
three countries to decide weather or not to involve Armenia in the
project. Turkey-Armenia border remaining closed is due to Armenia’s
policy. On the other hand, the Kars-Ghumru railway is a narrow line,
it cannot be used without being repaired. The reconstruction of
Akhalkhalak road will spend as much as the reconstruction of Ghumru
line. So, Armenia’s claims “there is already a railway” are not true.
Secondly, no other country but Armenia is responsible for this road
remaining closed.
– Turkey and Azerbaijan have already voiced their views regarding
financing of this project…
– As Azerbaijan’s oil revenues are increasing, both Baku and Ankara
can allocate $350 million to the construction of the railway line. I
think, Georgia’s participation in financing is not so necessary in
current situation. On the other hand, the United States and European
Union would not allow interest-free loan to us.
– Resigned US Army Colonel Peters has drawn a new map of the Middle
East. Though the map shows united Azerbaijan, the important city
Tabriz is shown as the territory of “Kurdustan”.
– It is incredible. This map is absolutely wrong. I received an
American delegation. When I touched on map issue, I was told it is
author’s opinion. And I asked such a question, “I write an article
saying Armenia causes a lot of problems to the Caucasus region. So it
should be removed. Would the “Armed forces Journal” publish it?” they
said “No”. So, I asked, “You told everyone can publish everything it
likes on the journal”. Such things are disgusting. Division of many
countries into artificial borders is not acceptable.
Several years ago, when Iran proposed to give Mecca and Medina the
status of “Holy land”, Saudi Arabia’s reaction was severe to this
proposal. The above-mentioned map shows Kurdustan’s border lying till
the Black Sea coast, including Artvin and Hopa.
There is no single Kurd living in these territories while the map
shows these as Kurdustan’s territory.
Even, Tabriz-center of South Azerbaijan is given to Kurdustan in the
map. How many Kurds are there in Tabriz?
– The US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group has been
substituted. However, there are attempts to exert pressure on
Azerbaijan. Do you think the Minsk Group is established for the
purpose of making Azerbaijan make trade-offs?
– I think the Minsk Group aims to calm down emotions, distract the
attention of the world community from this problem and put forward
unacceptable proposals in the end. No more vital thing can I imagine
compared to the return of displaced Azerbaijanis to their occupied
homelands in Nagorno Garabagh. The attempts to part Nagorno Garabagh
from Azerbaijan are doomed to failure. The international law says
the same.
Regrettably, when Armenians intend to occupy land from Azerbaijan,
international organizations ignore their decisions.
– As an experienced diplomat and former Foreign Minister, how can you
explain Armenia’s incompliance with the decisions of international
organizations?
– Armenia has a strong lobby in the West, in particular in US
and France. They are establishing relations with rich men in
other countries and influence them. Azerbaijan is also developing
economically. Though these problems cannot be solved today, everyone
can easily imagine the way of solution in future. Azerbaijan should
never say “yes I agree to such trade-offs”. Because, time is going
for Azerbaijan, which is developing its economy.
– The European Parliament has many times called for Turkey to
open the border with Armenia and recognize the so-called “Armenian
genocide”. Do you think in the process of EU membership discussions,
Turkey will have to take this step? There are no such items in
Copenhagen political principles…
– I began to consider this issue as a joke. The discussions on
Turkey’s EU membership consist of concrete paragraphs. For instance,
while discussing in what standard a cucumber should be in agriculture
in European Union, “Turkey cannot say it cannot discuss standard of
cucumber without recognizing the genocide.” Because, these are quite
different issues.
Copenhagen principles do not have any paragraph that stresses the
importance of our recognizing Armenia. We regard these appeals as
the European Union’s consoling itself with. /APA/

By Gohar Gevorgian

30/08/2006
Defense minister Serge Sargsian received yesterday senator Francois
Roelants du Viviers, chairman of Senate’s committee for external
relations and defense of Belgium. According to a press release of
Defense Ministry, the sides touched upon the obligations of South
Caucasian states on their path to the European family. The senator
emphasized recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey if the
latter wants to enter EU and dubbed unacceptable the annihilation of
ancient Armenian khachkars of Old Jugha by Azerbaijan.
Speaking about the need of deepening relations the senator said that
Belgian authorities are looking to opening an embassy in the region.
As to Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Mr. Roelants du Viviers voiced
concern over increasing military budget of Azerbaijan but stressed that
it that the size of budget does not always mean fighting efficiency
of an army. The sides also touched upon the peaceful regulation of
Nagorno Karabakh issue, issues of regional security and spheres of
mutual interest. Both sides underscored that Armenian-Belgian are
developing and they have entered a new stage.

Zatik Orphanage Summer Festival Organized by Armenian Volunteers
YEREVAN August 28, 2006. This Saturday, September 2nd, the children of Zatik
Orphanage will learn that their friends in the Armenian Diaspora do not
forget about them. For the third year running, Richard (Ric) Gazarian from
Chicago, and the Armenian Volunteer Corps, is hosting a full day Festival,
complete with face painting, popcorn, cotton-candy and a pony ride, for the
136 children at the orphanage!
Numerous businesses have made promises to make generous donations which will
make this day successful. Tumanian Shaurma will provide food and Grand Candy
will provide ice cream, for the third year running Luna Park has donated
it’s Moon Bounce for the day, and Cheers Disco Pub is supplying speakers and
a DJ to kick off the fun!
Additionally, many other friends will participate to make the day as
eventful and memorable as possible. Roughly 20 volunteers from the Armenian
Volunteer Corps (AVC), and also the Birthright Armenia/Depi Hayk Foundation,
will be in attendance to help run the carnival games and do face-painting.
The Zeytun dance group will put on a small performance, professional clowns
will provide amusement, and a special guest appearance by Miss Armenia
Lusine Tovmasyan has been planned.
And why does Richard return every summer to host and sponsor this event for
the children of Zatik? He simply says, “They are like my extended family.”
This relationship began in 2004 when Ric volunteered as an English teacher
and mentor at Zatik Orphanage through the Armenian Volunteer Corps, an
organization devoted to facilitating Diasporan Armenians with the
opportunity to live and work in Armenia for long and short term volunteer
service in hopes that those Diasporans will establish a life-long
relationship with their countrymen and women in Armenia so that they can
together build a stronger future.
Ric developed a strong attachment to his new found friends at Zatik, and
they with him. Upon the end of his AVC service term in the summer of 2004,
Ric decided he wanted to organize something special, something to bring
happiness to the children in a memorable way. He organized the first “Zatik
Festival” and like a true friend, Ric and the AVC volunteers try to play a
continuing role in the lives of the children, and so are once again
organizing the Festival fun this year.

Tatul Manaserian says replying to the news about his membership into
”Prosperous Armenia” Party.
Since the formation of ”Prosperous Armenia” Party, there is a formed
opinion in the Armenian political and expert groups that party aims
to compete with the opposition in the coming elections and change
the orientation of voters.
So it isn’t accidental that some ”unspoiled” politicians, cultural
and art workers have gathered in that party. It isn’t also accidental
that this party is inclined to include some representatives of the
opposition who are known in the society as politicians with good
reputation. But it shouldn’t be excluded that the names of some
oppositionists and journalists of free press are mentioned to raise
the reputation of “Prosperous Armenia” and create mystery round it,
on the other hand to compromise those persons. It became clear lately
from ”Azatutiun” b/s that another non-party deputy from ”Justice”
bloc Tatul Manaserian is going to become ”PA” member. Other sources
have mentioned the independent deputy Emma Khudabashian. There
is another information that it is ordered from the presidential
residence not to hurry to accept the membership of T. Manaserian,
E. Khudabashian and V. Dallakian.
We tried to find out just from Mrs. Khudabashian and Mr. Manaserian
about their intentions.
To our question, Mrs. Khudabashian answered, that she didn’t know
what newspapers wrote because she had lost three persons close to
her and didn’t have any mood to speak about policy. Anyway, she said,
she had already chosen where she would go but didn’t say exactly where.
Is it just “Prosperous Armenia” or another party? “I’ll say it later,
– Mrs. Khudabashian promised and added, – let them write. A lot of
politicians have suggested becoming their party member. Perhaps they
are offended. If I decide to become the member of a party, I’ll inform
about it, but now I don’t have any mood to speak.”
As for T. Manaserian, the latter said the following during his
conversation with us: “I’m not inclined to give explanations. Ask those
who write such things. I get angry at these conversations. Perhaps
they have nothing to do and invent themes for them. Let them engage in
a serious business. Tatul Manaserian has always been an independent
person, and has always acted by his own initiation and I have no
connection with the marionettes of the president and I can’t have at
all.” To our question whether he has an intention to leave ”Justice”,
he answered: ”I shouldn’t give any interpretation. Sorry”. Certainly
we don’t have any reason to cast doubt on Mr. Manaserian’s sincerity
but the point is that Mr. Manaserian has informed some members of
”Justice” about his intention to become ”PA” Party member.
The whole nonsense in this story is that the leaders of ”PA” Party
are very quiet and aren’t going to reply to that published information.

As it is known, there have always been ”right” and ”wrong” Jews
in Russia.
For instance, L. Kaganovich was a ”right” Jew, but V. Meierhold was
a ”wrong” one. Their oligarchs are distinguished just in the same
way. Abramovich and Khohodorkovsky have equally robbed the soviet
property, they have avoided of taxes etc., but now one of them is a
governor, another is a prisoner.
Difference between them is a great: one of them is loyal to the
authority, another isn’t.
As we always follow Russia, we also have the same customs. For example
there are ”right” and ”wrong” deserters in Armenia. Thousands of
people avoid of military service in Armenia but the law enforcement
agencies take bribes and don’t disturb them. But if you are the
editor-in-chief of an oppositionist newspaper and the same law
enforcement agencies are ordered by the ruling clique to examine you,
it is impossible to take a bribe.
The most interesting thing is that when the “right” person becomes a
“wrong” one in a moment. Who was Artashes Tumanian till the latest
events. A famous politician, one of the bases of independent
Armenia. But, unfortunately, that person decided to form a party
without the president’s approval. In some days he was accused
of wasting money of “Lins” foundation and owing some profitable
business. Till the attempt of forming a party law enforcement officials
thought that Mr. Tumanian lives on his salary. This example warned
the prosecutor to freeze the process of forming a party.
Now the same happens to “Orinats Erkir”. OEP was a “constructive”,
” pro-authority” power till the latest period, a full member of the
coalition, which leads the country to the prosperity. And finally
it became clear that it was a group of enemies of the state, fifth
column of the U.S. or French imperialism. The coalition colleagues
found out that the OEP members don’t even have a right to sweep the
corridors of the Parliament, and Arthur Baghdasarian’s formed French
University and the European Regional Academy cost nothing.
Bolshevism /”who isn’t with us, he is against us”/ prevents the
formation of state tradition. Tomorrow other Bolsheviks will come
and will criticize nowadays authority.

ARF To Clarify Its Tactics After Supreme Convention
ARF TO CLARIFY ITS TACTICS AFTER SUPREME CONVENTION
Yerkir
29.08.2006 14:30
YEREVAN (YERKIR) – All political parties are preparing for the
upcoming National Assembly election, Hrair Karapetian, National
Assembly’s Armenian Revolutionary Federation faction leader, told a
news conference on Tuesday.
“Every party decides on its own what tactics to adopt for the coming
months,” Karapetian said.
As for the ARF, Karapetian said, the party will discuss its action
plan at its 10th Supreme Body to be convened on September 7.
Taking a question on the ARF’s possible participation in an electoral
block with other parties in the election, Karapetian said, “The ARF
is ruled collectively, and it is the Supreme Convention that is to
make a decision on the party’s tactics.
My personal opinion is that the ARF has always participated in
elections separately but there are parties whose programs are
comparable in some parts with that of the ARF. A cooperation is
inevitable but only the Convention will decide on the extent of
cooperation.”
Speaking on the alleged confrontation between the Republican Party
and newly formed Prosperous Armenia Party, Karapetian said such
confrontation is ‘ artificially exaggerated’ by the press.
As for the opposition, Karapetian said, it did not take the place
it was supposed to, so other parties should commit to control the
legislative field.
He also spoke of the change in the Azerbaijani position in the Karabakh
conflict settlement, saying that the international community cannot
tolerate for long Azerbaijan’s attempts to derail the process and
that country’s belligerent rhetoric.
