Notre but

ARMENIAN RELIEF SOCIETY TO ASSIST ARMENIANS IN SYRIA

The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Western USA calls the community
members to get united and support the Armenians in Syria in the
conflict and civil war background, which continues to escalate in
Syria, Asbarez reports.

“At this crucial time, the ARS Western Region has committed to a full
force humanitarian response effort to raise funds in aid of Armenians
in Syria. Support in this effort knows no bounds and a donation in
any amount to the ‘Fund for Assistance to Syrian Armenian Schools’
will undeniably demonstrate a united undertaking to fulfill our
moral duty in coming to the aid of fellow Armenians in distress,”
the newspaper reports.

Over 60,000 to 70,000 Armenians live in Syria, half of them in Aleppo,
and another half in other cities, including the capital city Damascus
as well.

Unknown Of Power

UNKNOWN OF POWER

The political developments preceding the presidential elections in
Armenia, at least in terms of the behavior of the main political
subjects, gradually come out of the influence of internal issues and
appear within the influence of fight of foreign centers for Armenia.

But, even in this case, home issues are still the basis of key
importance for political developments which are in the field of
foreign influence.

The point is that the foreign political centers can’t but take
into account the Armenian reality the key issue of which is the
social-psychological situation and its aftermaths – emigration,
social apathy, depression, mistrust, disappointment towards almost
all the members of the political system.

In order to overcome this situation, Armenia needs large financial
investments. The West will have the necessary ground, i.e. active and
modern society, for the long-term partnership relations with Armenia
only the help of financial resources.

In this context, though, it is surprising that the conference of
donors for Armenia was postponed which would provide investments of
at least several millions. While Russia benefits from the lack of
investments and the social-psychological hard situation in the result
and the social apathy.

So why did the West delay the conference? The point is that the
West will give money to Armenia only in case it is sure that it will
serve for reforms and withdrawal of Armenia from under the Russian
destructive supremacy. While, there are no precedents in Armenia for
such a future, or all the precedents are not worth several million
or billion investments.

Perhaps this is the reason why the West in crisis avoids investing
big money in Armenia if they are possible to serve Russia that the
West itself.

No accident, parallel to the statement on the delay of the conference
of donors, EU high ranking officials recalled to Serzh Sargsyan
about the necessity of reforms and corruption fight. In other words,
Serzh Sargsyan was reminded that until the power issue is not solved
in Armenia and until it is in several points, Armenia can’t expect
big money from the West since the latter does not want to throw away
its money.

The power issue in Armenia is open to such an extent that if an air
blew it could sweep all the money away.

Serzh Sargsyan is unable to solve this issue. He only manages to make
sure no other force, in particular the PAP and Robert Kocharyan solve
that issue. They are currently the main rivals of Serzh Sargsyan.

Sargsyan solved the issue in the Armenian National Congress, though
Robert Kocharyan and the Prosperous Armenia are intensively trying
to restore the political influence of Congress, controlling it at
the same time in order to be more influential against Serzh Sargsyan.

In this governmental fight, Serzh Sargsyan will have to think out
systemic changes not because the Western community demands it,
which is the actual sponsor of Serzh Sargsyan’s de jure power, but
also because it is time to demand systemic changes since the acting
system has exhausted itself in material and resource terms.

These changes suppose for the violation of rights of the
criminal-oligarchic field, at least in terms of individuals. But,
this means that those who remain offended may join the circle of
supporters of Robert Kocharyan and PAP. Serzh Sargsyan can’t but be
worry about this, which is expressed in the formed of the process of
elimination of individual members of the oligarchic system.

This makes the power issue insolvable and a closed circuit involving
everyone comes up around neck of the state.

The solution seems to be this: either everyone leaves leaving the
solution of the power issue to the new generation, or everyone decides
to review their deeds and to come out of the closed circuit.

But, judging by the quality of the political system of Armenia and
its traditions and stereotypes, the second version is impossible. In
terms of the same thinking, world vision, psychology and values,
it is almost impossible also the first version.

Apparently, the most possible is the third version – the decision of
the young generation to broaden the process of power realization and
to increase dynamics and its implementation. It already exists and
it is express in the form of different initiatives. But time demands
broadening and intensification of these activities.

Realization of the power does not mean coming to power. Here, there
is a delicate instinctive limit which defines the decisions and the
actions because the citizen of Armenia has no issue of coming to power
in accordance with the Constitution because it already belongs to the
citizen, and second, the young generation has the power a priori:
the concept of youth if psychologically healthy and complete is a
synonym to the power, it is just necessary to realize the power.

BAKU: Sky News Reports Azerbaijani Government Officials Sold Black M

SKY NEWS REPORTS AZERBAIJANI GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SOLD BLACK MARKET OLYMPIC TICKETS

TURAN

LONDON. August 1, 2012: The British TV channel Sky News broadcaseted
a hidden camera report showing a few persons who were representing
themselves as the Azerbaijani government officials and selling tickets
to Olympic events in front of the Olympic Excel Center in London.

Selling black market Olympic tickets is illegal in Britain. The
Azerbaijani government, despite the video-report backing up the news
report, denies any involvement in those sales.

“I myself buy tickets at 125 pounds and pass them to official
representatives of Azerbaijan. In the last week, that is, from the
start of the Olympics, I spent £ 2,000 on tickets, the checks are with
me,” the head of the Olympic delegation of Azerbaijan Ilham Madatov
told BBC. “No one can have as many tickets as reported in the news,”
he stressed.

The Sky News report, stated a person sold the tickets with an
Azerbaijani flag with the words, Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan,
was thrown over the person’s shoulders. Ilham Madatov refuted this
information and emphasized, “Such allegations are not true.”

The report said a man, who introduced himself as an employee of some
unnamed Azerbaijani ministry, sold “free” tickets on the black market.

The tickets were for boxing events in the light weight category for
August 3.

Madatov did not rule out that the man featured by Sky News, whose
face was blurred, could be a tourist from Baku who arrived in London
on a so-called “Olympic tourism package” (Turan).

New York (TADIAS) – In the early 1900s, when Armenians were faced
with genocide orchestrated by the Ottoman empire, scores of families
escaped and some arrived and settled in Ethiopia. Armenians make up
one of the oldest immigrant communities in Ethiopia. Vahe Tilbian,
a 4th generation Ethiopian-Armenian, told TADIAS magazine that
“historically Armenians worked as goldsmiths, carpenters, builders,
teachers, embroiders, silk makers, and carpet makers.” His great
grandfather Tavit Aslanian was a carpet maker in Empress Zewditu’s
palace, his paternal grandfather was a tailor in Addis and his maternal
family members were cobblers.

Armenians have likewise contributed heavily to Ethiopian modern music.

Kevork Nalbandian was an Armenian who composed the first national
anthem for Ethiopia as well as served as the musical director of Arba
Lijoch. His nephew Nerses Nalbandian was involved in the founding of
the famed Yared Music School as well as led the Municipality Orchestra.

A kickstarter campaign has now been launched to produce a documentary
of the unique history and contributions of Armenian-Ethiopians. The
Tezeta campaign is directed by Aramazt Kalayjian.

Bonne Croissance De L’Armenie Au Premier Semestre Selon Le Ministre

BONNE CROISSANCE DE L’ARMENIE AU PREMIER SEMESTRE SELON LE MINISTRE DE L’ECONOMIE
Ara

A box of old letters and a father’s dying wish lead Michael Kiriakos to
dig up the buried memories of his hidden family history. After meeting
Rose, his father’s now elderly, Armenian pen pal, Michael slowly learns of
a past he never knew existed; one of exile, sacrifice and, ultimately,
redemption.

Written by Alexander Dinelaris, Red Dog Howls explores the horrors of
human atrocities, the enduring strength of the human spirit and how the
choices we make as mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, sons, and daughters
will – for better or worse – reverberate for generations.
