Azerbaijan Threatens Its Own Citizens

AZERBAIJAN THREATENS ITS OWN CITIZENS

Panorama.am
06/09/2012

Citizens of Azerbaijan Rashad Safarov, Aldar Aliyev, Anar Imanov,
Lala Safarova, Husein Jafarov, Vugar Aliyev and Gulnara Mammadova are
called to be careful in the days to come (at least until Presidential
elections in Azerbaijan). There is every ground to believe, that your
Government has decided to sacrifice you in order to uphold its credit,
which is so much vanished these days.

The day before all the Azerbaijani media disseminated a statement
claimed on behalf of “ASALA”, which contained direct threats against
Azerbaijani diplomats and also a promise: “In the nearest future all
the employees at Azeri diplomatic representations will be assassinated
in a way unapplied yet”.

Any single serious person would not remain doubtful that the letter
is fake and is essentially full of density. After all, ASALA has never
carried out any operation since late 1980s and even during the war in
Nagorno Karabakh. As a matter of fact, ASALA stopped its activities
after the declaration of independence of Armenia.

Secondly, ASALA has never declared of its forthcoming activity
beforehand.

Azerbaijan is behind the letter claimed on behalf of “ASALA”, which may
be proven by stylistic and linguistic expertise. At the end of the day,
it is revealed that the top leadership in Azerbaijan is not only sordid
and inhuman, but also are marked with idiotism in their activities.

Watch yourself.

Only an idiot is able to think that ASALA may send a letter full of
threats, does it in Turkish with a Baku dialect.

It’s only the foolish who may talk about Armenian Genocide,
make reference on the victims and introduce a number of 600.000,
which has been brought forward by Turkey and later on circulated
by Azerbaijani propaganda. In reality, as affirmed by renowned
international genocide scholars and dozens of foreign governments,
around 1.5mln people died at the death trails of Armenian Genocide,
and that is an undeniable fact.

And it is a sign of even more foolishness to accomodate all the variety
of Azerbaijani propaganda cliche in a single “threat”. It might have
been assumed from the letter, that an alleged ASALA, in a way that
Baku propaganda brains imagine it, testify that it has killed Azeri
civilians in Khojaly and continues to do so on a daily basis nowadays,
it assists and commands the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK), and most
importantly, it considers that Armenia is blockaded by Zionists.

Obviously, they have tried to keep the list lenghty in order to
provoke any reaction at least from somewhere. This is silly indeed.

An impression emerges that among those responsible for Azerbaijani
propaganda there is an urgent deficit for smart brains. Otherwise
they won’t turn themselves into a mocking target. After all, there
really might be found someone to prompt that the only thing Armenia
needs now is “to have Ramil alive”.

If we treat the letter seriously, which have obviously been written
in Aliyev administration (probably, the same people who advised to
employ maximum cynicism and pardon Ramil right away in the airport),
we might end up in quite serious assumptions that the regime intends
to sacrifice some more people in order to rescue its honor (as it goes
without saying – in order to put the blame onto Armenians afterwards).

Therefore, the aforementioned people are seriously advised to take
care of themselves.

Today, the students of Yerevan State University welcomed the NATO
Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen chanting “justice”. While
Rasmussen was delivering a lecture inside the university, students
were protesting outside.

In his speech, Rasmussen dwelt on the NATO-Armenia cooperation. Then,
answering students’ questions relating to Ramil Safarov’s extradition,
he noted that NATO continues supporting the peace settlement of
the Karabakh issue. NATO Secretary General called on the parties
to continue the constructive negotiations underlining the military
solution of the issue is unacceptable. He noted that the only guilty
of Safarov’s release is Azerbaijan, while Hungary and NATO didn’t
want to be parts of the scenario.

Rasmussen called on the Armenian party not to cause further tension
recalling that it would harm the regional stable development. He also
noted he is going to leave for Baku tomorrow where he will convey
the bewilderment of the Armenian side.

L’Affaire Safarov Toujours A La " Une " De La Presse Armenienne

L’AFFAIRE SAFAROV TOUJOURS A LA ” UNE ” DE LA PRESSE ARMENIENNE
Stephane

armenews.com
mercredi 5 septembre 2012

demande a notre jeunesse.

confiance a l’Azerbaïdjan ?

ANKARA: NATO Chief ‘Concerned’ By Azeri Killer’s Pardon

NATO CHIEF ‘CONCERNED’ BY AZERI KILLER’S PARDON

Journal of Turkish Weekly
Sept 6 2012

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he was “deeply
concerned” about the pardoning of an Azerbaijani soldier sentenced
to life for axing an Armenian to death in Hungary.

Ramil Safarov had been serving a life sentence with a possibility of
parole only after 25 years for hacking Armenian Gurgen Margaryan to
death with an ax during a NATO training event in Budapest in 2004. He
attacked Margaryan as the Armenian slept, striking him an alleged
16 times.

“I am deeply concerned by the Azerbaijani decision to pardon the
Azerbaijani army officer Safarov. The act he committed in 2004 was
a terrible crime that should not be glorified,” Rasmussen said.

On August 31 Safarov was extradited to Azerbaijan, where he was
pardoned by President Ilham Aliyev, greeted as a national hero and
promoted to the rank of major.

“The pardon damages trust and does not contribute to the peace
process,” the NATO secretary general said in his speech to students
of the Yerevan State University. “There must be no return to conflict
between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Tensions in this region must be reduced, and concrete steps must
be taken to promote regional cooperation and reconciliation,”
he continued.

Over a hundred protestors, mostly young people, rallied outside the
university where Rasmussen delivered his speech. They chanted “Shame”
and “We demand justice.”

Armenia has suspended diplomatic relations with Hungary over the
extradition. Defense Minister Seiran Oganyan ordered Armenian troops
to be put on higher alert.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at odds since fighting a bitter war
over the mainly Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh enclave in the early 1990s.

A ceasefire was signed in 1994, but relations continue to be strained.

Hungary said it had agreed to return Safarov to Azerbaijan after
receiving assurances that his sentence would be enforced.

NATO Chief Visits Armenia As Regional Tensions Escalate

NATO CHIEF VISITS ARMENIA AS REGIONAL TENSIONS ESCALATE

Global Insight
September 5, 2012

BYLINE: James Goundry

NATO Secretary-General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, is paying a two-day
visit to Armenia (5-6 September) amid rising tensions with neighbouring
Azerbaijan. Simmering tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan over
the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh have threatened to boil
over in recent days following the extradition from Hungary of a
convicted Azeri murderer last week. Lt Ramil Safarov was sentenced
to 30 years in prison by a Hungarian court in 2004 for the murder of
Armenian soldier Gurgen Margarian at a NATO-sponsored Partnership for
Peace English language course in Hungary (seeArmenia – Azerbaijan –
Hungary: 3 September 2012:). On his arrival in Azerbaijan last week,
Safarov was immediately pardoned and promoted, prompting outrage in
Armenia. Rasmussen will meet with Armenian President Sergh Sarkisian,
and the foreign and defence ministers, Edward Nalbandian and Seyran
Ohanyan. Armenia does not officially seek NATO membership, although
it does want to deepen its relationship with the alliance.

Significance:Rasmussen will seek to diffuse tensions as both the United
States and EU have condemned the Azeri pardon as a threat to the
stability of the region. Nonetheless, Armenia has publicly declared
itself ready for war and will stage significant military exercises
later this month. Safarov’s case is a nationalistic propaganda coup
for Azerbaijan, which often stokes anti-Armenian rhetoric to distract
public attention away from widespread corruption, wealth polarisation,
and a lack of democracy in the country. This is a dangerous tactic. As
the rhetoric and tensions escalate, so too does the risk of war.

NATO: NATO Secretary General Commends Strong Partnership With Armeni

NATO SECRETARY GENERAL COMMENDS STRONG PARTNERSHIP WITH ARMENIA

NATO
Sept 6 2012

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the Alliance wants
to forge an even closer partnership with Armenia during his first
visit to the country on Thursday.

After talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan, the
Secretary General thanked Armenia for its strong contribution to
NATO-led operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo, which strengthen the
country’s own peace-keeping capabilities. He also highlighted NATO’s
support for Armenia’s defence reforms, civil defence and disaster
relief efforts, stressing that NATO and Armenia have already achieved
a lot: “Armenia is a valuable partner for NATO and NATO is a valuable
partner for Armenia. We now have an opportunity to build an even
stronger partnership for the future. It’s an opportunity we must
seize because we all have to gain and so does the region as a whole.”

Mr. Fogh Rasmussen said his visit reflected NATO’s commitment to
security and stability in the South Caucasus region. In a speech
delivered to students at Yerevan State University, the Secretary
General said old barriers of mistrust in the region should be broken
down and new bridges of reconciliation buit: “There must be no return
to conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Tensions must be reduced
and concrete steps must be taken to promote regional cooperation
and reconciliation.”

Armenia Ready To Maintain And Develop Current Level Of Cooperation W

ARMENIA READY TO MAINTAIN AND DEVELOP CURRENT LEVEL OF COOPERATION WITH NATO – PRESIDENT SARGSYAN

news.am
September 06, 2012 | 15:01

YEREVAN. – Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan’s (IPAP)
third-2011-2013-document is being implemented, Armenia’s President
Serzh Sargsyan stated Thursday during his joint briefing with North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Anders Fogh
Rasmussen.

“The level of Armenia’s interaction with the Treaty allowed for Armenia
to contribute to the international security system. At present,
Armenia takes part in the NATO-led peace operations in Afghanistan
and Kosovo. Armenia is ready and determined to maintain and develop
the current level of cooperation,” the President noted.

In his words, the present-day security challenges demand a
comprehensive and a united approach.

“I am confident that relations with partner countries have
a substantial role in the Treaty’s success and in building a
modern-day security system. The Partnership for Peace program has truly
contributed to our country’s democratic development ever since 1994,”
President Sargsyan noted, and added:

“But regrettably, we witnessed a blatant violation of the aforesaid
principles along the lines of the Partnership for Peace program, and
this, certainly must not cast a shadow upon our and NATO’s relations.”
