NEW DETAILS ON THE SUICIDE OF THE BYURAKAN VILLAGE HEADMAN’S SON COMMITTED IN THE ARMY

September 11, 2012 15:20

As we have informed, on the day of local elections, early in the
morning, Arman, the youngest son of Seyran Sargsyan, the headman of
the village of Byurakan (former Gyulubulagh), committed a suicide.

Today people present at the youth’s funeral communicated to
that the 22-year-old youth had served in the Kanaker
military base in Yerevan, after graduating from the institute, he had
been called up last year and had served for 1 year and 4 months. The
incident took place in the base itself on the morning of September 9,
at 2:15 a.m., the youth was found sitting on a stone with a gun in
his hand, which was pointed to his throat. There are suspicions that
he didn’t commit a suicide, but was murdered. His father told that
on that very day, at midnight, at around 1:30 a.m., he had received a
call on his phone from an unknown number and no one had talked; this
aroused doubts in the father’s mind. Seyran Sargsyan without warning
his family got in a car and rushed to Yerevan, to his serviceman son.

He received a call from his son on the way too, but the village
headman didn’t hear it and didn’t pick up. Coming to the base, he
found his son dead.

The preliminary investigation will show whether this is another case of
murderer or suicide in the army. Let us note that the father who lost
his son was elected the village headman on the same day, he didn’t
have a rival – the chief of staff of the village administration had
formally announced his candidacy to compete with him and had withdrawn
his candidacy before the election.

Armenian Church To Have Heat This Winter

ARMENIAN CHURCH TO HAVE HEAT THIS WINTER

NCN News – Nazarene Communications Network
Sept 13 2012

As summer draws to a close, a Nazarene church in northern Armenia can
look toward winter without its former dread thanks to a Nazarene
Compassionate Ministries project that supplied the 40-person
congregation with the means to heat their church.

Winter is always severe in the mountainous area of Akhuran. The
area sits at 865 meters altitude (nearly 3,000 feet), and sometimes
reaching -40 Fahrenheit in the winter, said Seyran Vardanyan, pastor
of the Nazarene church, in an email. In fact, last winter was the
coldest in 12 years.

The church, which was first organized in 2003 with four people,
met in an unfinished building without a roof or floors. Two Work and
Witness teams finished the construction that year.

To decrease heating expenses, the church would plan all their weekly
activities during the two- to three-hour worship gathering on Sunday
mornings. This way they could leave the church unheated the rest of
the week when no one was there.

This hasn’t worked well because the building’s wood- and cow
dung-burning stove fills the church with smoke. As a result, the
people could only tolerate remaining inside the church for the Sunday
morning worship service, and not for the usual Sunday School classes
or kids clubs.

The rest of each week, the church rooms were icy, which put its
furniture, musical instruments, and electronic audio equipment at risk.

Firewood is not cheap in Armenia. In rural areas, families struggle
to find permanent jobs, and thus to afford wood to heat their homes,
Vardanyan wrote.

“Even families that can afford to buy wood normally only burn it
in the morning and in the evening,” he said. “[The] same economic
challenge is affecting the pastors of the churches as well. Many
pastors are bi-vocational; struggle to find permanent jobs.”

To help, NCM began to sponsor the heating expenses for the Nazarene
church. As a result, the church doesn’t have to conserve firewood and
can scatter church activities throughout the week, which means they
can avoid the eye-watering build-up of smoke. A more consistently warm
church is also better for the sound equipment and musical instruments.

“Without NCM support for heating during the winter we would not
only face large utility bills, but would also have to involve more
people-resources to solve issues related to the absence of heating,”
Vardanyan wrote.

NCM is also providing heating fuel to Nazarene pastors, including
Vardanyan, and one of the most economically challenged families to
whom the church actively ministers.

“This winter we decided to help one family that was facing a very
difficult economic situation,” Vardanyan said. “Provided support was
just right to help them get to the point where the head of the family
was able to find employment and was able to take care of his family
for the rest of the winter.”

this week’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat in Bulgaria.

decisions made by the referee and the treatment they had received
from the home team, the football association said on its website
() without giving precise details.

Baku: Russian Politician Aleksey Mukhin: "The Armenian Hysterics Doe

RUSSIAN POLITICIAN ALEKSEY MUKHIN: “THE ARMENIAN HYSTERICS DOESN’T EXCULPATE ITSELF” – INTERVIEW

APA
Sept 11 2012
Azerbaijan

“The more the world community discusses the possibility of war,
the more it is impossible”

“Such provocations from Georgia frequently repeated on the eve of
August’s events”

Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. APA’s special correspondent took an
interview from Russian politician, director-general of Political
Information Centre Aleksey Mukhin.

-Today is September 11, the world community commemorates the
anniversary of terrorist act occurred in USA on 11th. The world states
started pursuing a join policy against terrorism after this event.

While the struggle against terrorism is going on trough the entire
world, the Armenian terrorist organization ASALA sent a threatening
letter to Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary and Azerbaijanis living
abroad, in front of the world community a week ago. How can you
comment this?

– I absolutely condemn this fact. I think that the law-enforcement
bodies must take the relevant measures against this organization that
has taken such responsibilities and now threatens innocent people.

But, unfortunately this issue is being discussed only in mass media
and on the political arena.

-How can you comment on the Armenian concerns about Ramil Safarov’s
extradition to Azerbaijan and his pardoning?

-In any case, the Armenian hysterics doesn’t exculpate itself in
political plan. It’s impossible to solve the problem by means of
hysterics. This can be proved rather simply. You can ask either
a married woman or a man how they could they manage to solve the
problem by such a way?

-What can you say about the possibility of war between Azerbaijan
and Armenia after Ramil Safarov’s issue?

-I don’t consider that the latest events can influence on launching
of war in Azerbaijan’s Nagorno Karabakh region. The conflict is being
discussed between the communities of both states. The more the world
community discusses the war, the more it is impossible. And vice
versa, if the communities of the both states do not discuss the war,
the war won’t occur. I think that that the war between Azerbaijan
and Armenia won’t occur in near future.

-NATO chief Anders Fog Rasmussen paid an official visit to the South
Caucasus last week. Rasmussen has declared that “Georgia’s future
home wil be NATO”. How can you comment on it?

-No matter Anders Fog Rasmussen serves in the post of NATO General
Secretary, unfortunately, he doesn’t make any decision of influential
role. That’s why we must esteem his visit not as a political one,
but as a diplomatic visit. Russia considers Anders Fog Rasmussen as
a repeater from the official point of view. So, of course, we must
consider his decisions, but not take them seriously.

-How can you evaluate the latest events on Azerbaijan-Georgia border?

-I don’t unambiguously accept these events, because we faced the
number of provocations from Georgia recently. Such provocations from
Georgia repeated very frequently and on the eve of August’s events
in 2008. Everyone knows what has happened in the end. That’s why
Russia follows these events very attentively. The situation on the
border and in sub-border places is kept under Russian control. It’s
very difficult to comment on these events, because the latest events
can’t be evaluated ambiguously. I consider that Russia doesn’t want
to participate in Georgian provocations.

-What can you say about the Russia and Georgia relations in the
near future?

-The Russian-Georgia relations will depend on the result of Georgian
elections in the near future. Unfortunately, Russia doesn’t have such a
power to influence on Georgian elections. That’s why Russia is either
ready for the restoration of normal mutual relations with Georgia,
or a more extreme continuation of it.

ISTANBUL: Study Of Our Nation’s Soul

STUDY OF OUR NATION’S SOUL

Today’s Zaman
Sept 12 2012
Turkey

When boasting of our nation, we keep talking about what a noble and
generous nation we are.

We say it was our ancestors who opened their arms to Jews fleeing
from the Spanish Inquisition or to Jewish engineers or architects
who were fleeing Nazi brutality. And it is not a lie; there have
been periods when the Ottoman Empire welcomed refugees who had to
flee their country. But the opposite also occurred. The Ottoman
Empire, boasting of its open its arms to refugees, deported 1.5
million Armenians in 1915 even though it knew they were going to
die, and it deported non-Muslims and non-Turks during the riots of
Sept. 6-7, 1955, after seizing all their properties. Every country
has its generous periods as well as its dark periods. The question
is how we are today. We again keep saying how we welcomed Iraqi Kurds
fleeing Saddam Hussein’s brutality and Syrian refugees fleeing Syrian
President Bashar al-Assad’s atrocities. But what about extrajudicial
killings perpetrated by the deep state on non-Muslims? What about
a recently released study revealing that 61 percent of Turks do not
want refugees in their country?

Azerbaijan, Turkey Brought Together By Energy, Culture

AZERBAIJAN, TURKEY BROUGHT TOGETHER BY ENERGY, CULTURE

New Europe

Sept 12 2012

Turkey and Azerbaijan already brought together by the Trans-Anatolian
gas pipeline (TANAP) that will carry Azeri gas to Turkey and onto
Europe, on 11 September further strengthened their co-operation by
signing eight agreements in the fields of energy, transportation,
diplomacy, economy and culture.

The ceremonial signing followed a meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey
High-Level Strategic Co-operation Council. Azerbaijan’s President
Ilham Aliyev and Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed
a protocol of the second meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level
Strategic Co-operation Council.

Aliyev noted they discussed world political developments and vowed
to support each other within international organisations.

“Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are very important for not only
development of bilateral ties because they play a stabilising role
for ensuring peace, security in the region,” he said. Aliyev noted
discussions were also concerned with Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Of the major powers in Azerbaijan’s region, Turkey has the strongest
ties to Baku. Aliyev also noted that the co-operation in the energy
sphere is of traditional character. “Co-operation in the economical
sphere is the priority as always. Following our Izmir meeting,
important events occurred. We signed the TANAP project. During the
next five years, we will achieve the implementation of the TANAP
project. Azerbaijan will be the important gas supplier for Turkey. At
the same time Azerbaijan’s gas will be transported to Europe via
Turkey,” Aliyev said.

Erdogan also touched upon the TANAP project signed in Turkey. “From
this point, the process has started. Inshallah, mechanisms will be
put in place shortly,” he added.

The Azeri President said he also discussed with Erdogan issues related
military-technical co-operation. The co-operation in this sphere is
based on the friendship and fraternal principles. I can also say that
great progress is being observed over the last period,” Aliyev added.

Overall, Erdogan said that they discussed important issues in the
political, cultural, and other fields. He expressed hope that trade
turnover between the countries would reach $5bn by 2015. (KG)
