to Yerevan, but Baku resolved to organize Tbilisi-Yerevan charter
flight,” Abiyev said.

ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH NOT PRIVATE VENTURE – PRIEST

The Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) is not a limited liability company,
neither does it own any, says priest Vahram Melikyan, a spokesperson
for the Holy See of St Echmiadzin.

His comments came in response to the media reports that a parking
coupon provided to the AAC Vazgenyan College gives full information
on the owner of the territory and the people it serves,

“The Holy See St Echmiadzin, with its subordinate organizations, has
adjacent parking lots in different places, which give drivers coupons
for the parked cars. There’s nothing unlawful or what’s even more,
indecent, about that,” he said.

A follower of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Artak Minasyan, was
earlier said to have expressed anger at seeing a parking coupon marked
Armenian Apostolic Church. He reportedly said that the AAC is little by
little turning into an ordinary LLC, having totally forgotten its role.

Commenting on the report, Melikyan said he can understand the
implication behind the statement (that maintaining a parking lot
requires means which are never donated by people like Artak Minasyan).

“As to why the Holy See’s name is marked on the coupon, that’s for
making people aware that unlike numerous other similar payments, their
money will serve for the welfare and mission of this structure. If
there are people who are unwilling to have their investment in the
Armenian Church and its projects, I don’t see any need to make comments
then,” he added.

Ruling Coalition Fails Extraordinary Sitting Initiated By Opposition

RULING COALITION FAILS EXTRAORDINARY SITTING INITIATED BY OPPOSITION IN ARMENIA

ARMINFO
Wednesday, November 21, 12:51

The extraordinary sitting of the Armenian Parliament that was initiated
by the Armenian National Congress has been failed for lack of quorum,
as forecasted. Only 44 out of the necessary 66 votes were received. The
coalitional parties: Republican Party and Orinats Yerkir, fulfilled
their promises and did not attend the sitting.

Head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan explained such behavior of
the Republicans with an unwillingness to participate in the political
show of the opposition. “It is our constitutional right and no one can
blame us. In addition, 15 parliamentarians of the RPA faction are on
business trips,” Sahakyan said. “Too little time is left before the
presidential elections to make any legislative reforms,” he said when
commenting on the legislative amendments suggested by the opposition.

He said that the opposition has become quite skillful in organization
of political shows. “We remember what happened 4 years ago on March
1 2008. They again organized a show and then gave marching orders to
the people. Now these forces try to remind about themselves at the
expense of other parties,” Sahakyan said hinting at the Armenian
National Congress that, as he thinks, exploits the potential of
Prosperous Armenia and ARFD parties in its political goals.

To recall, ANC with the support of Heritage, ARFD and Prosperous
Armenia parties initiated extraordinary sitting of the parliament
for Nov 21 to suggest amendments to the Electoral and Criminal Codes,
and to the Law on the Population Register.

It is noteworthy that even the oppositionists did not attend the
extraordinary sitting in full staff. Only 44 out of 53 oppositionist
MPs were present at the sitting.

POSSIBILITY OF NEW WAR SERIOUS THREAT TO BAKU, NKR EX-FM SAYS

November 21, 2012 – 16:20 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – The year 2012 has seen no breakthrough in Karabakh
conflict settlement, NKR ex-Foreign Minister said.

As Arman Melikyan told a November 21 news conference, many were
concerned over a probability of a new war which would pose a serious
threat to Azerbaijan as well.

“In the next 5 years, Azerbaijan will increase its oil income to
further solve the issue to fit its interests,” Melikyan said.

“Presidential elections in the U.S. will be followed by deepening
disintegration worldwide, with Armenia in the center of projected
clashes. Turkey, though partially stable, may later intensify its
involvement,” the former official said.

Vartan Oskanian wrote on his Facebook wall that though his nomination
for president was discussed upon the initiative of the PAP leader
Gagik Tsarukyan, the PAP territorial offices want Tsarukyan to run.

Oskanian implies that he will not run.

It~Rs difficult to say what played a role in this. The authorities
have brought serious charges against Vartan Oskanian ~Sfabricating~T a
criminal case against him, which may turn into a verdict every moment.

On the other hand, the logic of the domestic developments has led to
a situation that Oskanian~Rs nomination for president would split or
even ruin the PAP which currently has several wings.

Clash of interests be seen between the PAP wings, as well as growing
controversies. In fact, only Gagik Tsarukyan~Rs nomination will be
a temporary solution for the PAP.

This is interesting to the society if we ignore the fact that
Tsarukyan~Rs nomination will mean that the political bar of Armenia is
again lowered. Tsarukyan is not a bad guy. He has a lot of positive
features but his characteristics has nothing in common with the
politics about which Vartan Oskanian used to speak.

In theory, the society would benefit from Oskanian~Rs nomination more,
which would raise the political bar.

Oskanian has considered several options of his political career:
join a party, set up a party or join the civil sector. Oskanian chose
something in the between. His Civilitas Foundation was in the civic
field, while he joined Prosperous Armenia.

Oskanian understood that he would be asked a lot of questions which
he cannot answer. Besides, no matter how long Oskanian speaks on a new
level of politics, it would be impossible to implement it in the PAP.

Instead, by joining the party Oskanyan had to take into account a lot
of circumstances which have nothing in common with the ~Snew-quality
politics~T.

There is another option as well if Oskanian and his ~Sallies~T are
able to take PAP. But this is a doubtful option since no one will
give away their ~Sportion~T of the huge conglomerate, and PAP would
simply collapse.

Oskanian is trying to keep the intrigue in his statement underlining
the importance of a joint candidate to achieve success hinting that
he could be the best candidate.

Everyone, including Oskanian, understands that the upcoming
presidential election will be the ~Slast~T in one for the
anti-Constitutional system existing in Armenia for already 25 years.

This system is exhausted, and an inevitable crash, not a ~Ssystemic
change~T awaits it. In this sense, Vartan Oskanian~Rs choice is still
wrong, even if he becomes the ~Sjoint candidate~T.

Armenia-Poland Relations Develop Based On Mutual Trust – Ambassador

ARMENIA-POLAND RELATIONS DEVELOP BASED ON MUTUAL TRUST – AMBASSADOR

YEREVAN.- Armenian-Polish relations date back to the Middle Ages
and now two countries are cooperating as free independent states,
Poland’s Ambassador Zdzislaw Raczynski said speaking about 20th
anniversary of diplomatic relations.

“Partner relations between our states are based on mutual trust,”
he told reporters on Wednesday.

As to economic relations, Ambassador said the annual trade turnover
reaches 30 million euro, which he considers not satisfactory as no
progress is registered.

“The reason is that often goods are transported from Poland to
Armenia via Russia, Ukraine and Turkey which hampers turnover growth,”
Raczynski said, noting that there is only one Polish company with a
turnover of 10 million euro functioning in Armenia.

HAYKAKAN ZHAMANAK: RUSSIAN PRESIDENT TO DEMAND ARMENIAN LEADER’S CLEAR STANCE ON EURASEC

tert.am

The issue of Armenia’s full membership in the EurAsEC, as well as
in the Customs Union and Eurasian Union (Armenia is now observer at
the EurAsEC), which are to be based on it, will once again be raised
point-blank this December.

Next month, at the CIS Summit in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Armenian
President Serzh Sargsyan is to meet with his Russian counterpart
Vladimir Putin.

The newspaper’s sources say that the Russian leader is expected to
demand that the Armenian president clearly state Armenia’s stance –
getting fully involved in the EurAsEC or retaining its observer status.

The point is that EurAsEC membership is the “criterion” to determine
Armenia’s movement either toward the West or toward Russia.

In contrast to Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who does not
miss a chance to express his negative opinion, Armenia’s president has
never stated his position on Armenia’s possible membership in EurAsEC.
