As soon as Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s decision became known, the
Conservative Party left the ANC which used to be a member of the ANC
de jure but de facto had a very passive role in it. The Conservative
Party is one of the series of parties that separated from the ANC.

Earlier other individuals and forces left this alliance due to
disagreement with the official policy of this party. Hrant Bagratyan
is already about to leave. Now Nikol Pashinyan’s issue is important
who is also a minority there.

What will happen to the ANC? Ter-Petrosyan hinted about it during
the congress of the All-Armenian Movement Party stating that he is a
member of this party and has never been a member of another party. The
ANC has transformed to All-Armenian Movement, and the current process
is the confirmation.

It is interesting to know what the forces and individuals who are
still members of the ANC and are against its policy and approaches
will do. What will Karen Demirchyan do, for example? Or what will
Lyudmila Sargsyan do? These people are nothing without the ANC and
Levon Ter-Petrosyan?

Only Nikol Pashinyan is self-sufficient in the ANC. He has the
potential of a political subject. Even Hrant Bagratyan’s circumstance
is relative because Bagratyan, despite his intellectual and ideological
potential, is perceived as an economist rather than a political
figure. It is possible that Hrant Bagratyan will build up on his
“political” aspect by running in the presidential election. On the
other hand, there is the contrary risk. However, Bagratyan’s so-called
economic aspect is substantial enough to keep him popular.

What will Nikol Pashinyan do? Will he try to take power in the ANC
and place this organization on the track to his vision or will he
break up with the ANC.

Theoretically, the best option is when the party minority does not
depart upon disagreement but remains and defends his point of view.

This is a political axiom for all the political systems. Parties
are models of the state with their opposition and government when
disagreement occurs between different wings of the government.

Therefore, parties must have mechanisms of internal democracy which
will allow solving those issues institutionally. After all, the seeds
of the political culture must be planted at this level to reflect
this culture at a global scope as soon as they come to power.

This is the theoretical point of view. In practice, especially in the
Armenian practice, internal autocracy is sometimes more rigid than
autocracy at the state level. So, perhaps Nikol should not waste time
on struggle for his point of view, especially that Ter-Petrosyan has
his preferred “heir” – Levon Zurabyan.

On the other hand, leaving the ANC does not mean that real proposals
addressed to the public will stop. In addition, the current
social situation is such that institutional proposals on public
self-organization are demanded, urgent and necessary, considering the
new reality, the apathy in the opposition and the public, but at the
same time the potential of different civil cells.

By the way, in order to raise their efficiency it is necessary to find
the platform where the collective potential will be concentrated,
despite disagreement and ambitions which will be there for sure. It
is more important to work out such institutional mechanisms which
will eradicate or reduce the worship of individual or idolatry.

POLL FINDS THAT 84 PERCENT OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION HAS RELIGIOUS FAITH

“Worldwide, more than eight-in-ten people identify with a religious
group.” These are the findings of the PewResearchCenter’s Forum on
Religion & Public Life, which was a comprehensive demographic study of
more than 230 countries and territories, the Catholic Online reports.

“There are 5.8 billion religiously affiliated adults and children
around the globe, representing 84 percent of the 2010 world population
of 6.9 billion,” the analysis states.

An analysis of more than 2,500 censuses, surveys and population
registers came up with this “Global Religious Landscape:”

– 2.2 billion Christians, (32 percent of the world’s population).

– 1.6 billion Muslims, (23 percent).

– 1 billion Hindus, (15 percent).

– 500 million Buddhists. (Seven percent).

– 400 million people (6 percent) practicing various folk or
traditional religions, including African traditional religions,
Chinese folk religions, American Indian religions and Australian
aboriginal religions.

There are 14 million Jews, and an estimated 58 million people, which
is less than one percent of the global population – belong to other
religions. These include the Baha’i faith, Jainism, Sikhism, Shintoism,
Taoism, Tenrikyo, Wicca and Zoroastrianism, “to mention just a few,”
the study says.

About half of all Christians in the world are Catholic, 37 percent
are part of the Protestant tradition, and 12 percent are Orthodox
Greek or Russian.

The largest population of Christians, of 243 million is found,
incidentally, in the United States, followed by Brazil, Mexico,
Russia, the Philippines, Nigeria and China.

“An interesting thing to remember during this holiday season is the
fact that Armenia, the first Christian nation to celebrate Christmas,
observes the day in early January,” the Catholic Online writes.

“Armenians celebrate Christmas on the 6th of January, due to the
fact that there was an ancient pagan feast day which was a problem,
because since most were Christians at that time, paganism, which was
the worship of Sun, Moon, Fire, idols etc., was fading out except for
this one festival dedicated to light which was called the Festival
of Lights.

People could not forget about this festival, so they moved the birth of
Christ to December 25th so that the people would start to forget about
that pagan feast day. And so it was. However, back in Armenia, this
problem did not exist since Armenians had done away with paganism back
in the year 301A.D. when Armenia became the first Christian Nation.

So, Armenians celebrate Christmas, Theophany (the Revelation of God)
– since when He was baptized in the River Jordan, the heavens opened
up and God’s voice said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am
well pleased.” (Matt. 3:17), and the Baptism of Christ on the 6th of
January,” the article reads.

INTERESTS OF ARMENIA AND RUSSIA COINCIDE IN SOUTH CAUCASUS, SAYS EXPERT

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty
of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Armenia
and Russia. This is a serious political and institutional basis for
development of contractual relations between the two countries,”
political scientist Alexander Markarov told reporters, summing up
the development of Armenian-Russian relations in the passing year.

During 17 years, Armenia and Russia signed more than 170 agreements
concerning different areas, said the expert.

“Three or four meetings on the level of heads of states took place
in the current year. More than 50 various high-level meetings were
held during the past three years. It is a solid number in both
qualitative and quantitative aspects characterizing the level of
Armenian-Russian relations. The substantial side of these meetings
is evidence of continued, stable and reliable cooperation between
Armenia and Russia,” Markarov stated.

Russia is an important economic partner of Armenia. It accounts
for about 60 percent of all foreign investment in Armenia, said the
political scientist.

Commenting on cooperation in the area of security, Markarov noted that
Armenia gives much importance to Russia in the aspect of security,
and this regards not only defense of borders but also response to
common security challenges.

“The interests of Armenia and Russia coincide in the South Caucasus.

These interests are that the South Caucasus should be a secure and
stably developing region that will be able to contribute to wider
cooperation within other formats,” the expert said, adding that the
interests of the two countries also coincide within CIS and CSTO,
with Armenia being a reliable partner.

Citizen and Homeland are One and the Same

By now it is clear that the rise of big mining in Armenia has been not
a project of the national interest but a privilege of the chosen few,
who have amassed fantastic fortunes while our country descends into
poverty and despair.

In recent years we have witnessed grave violations under the guise of
eminent domain, the destruction of historical monuments, and the
obliteration of vast, prospering ecosystems. In place of lush forests,
lakes of hazardous toxic waste cover Armenia. Our homeland is being
poisoned.

The time for change has come. Today we must stand together to demand:

1) The reevaluation of all mining licenses in Armenia–including
the license issued to the open mine at Teghut, the great forest of the
Lori region;

2) The suspension of all pending licenses, in anticipation of a
comprehensive and multi-faceted parliamentary investigation into the
legality and transparency of the licensing process; and

3) The redrafting of the environmental code and the tax code to
ensure that, in the future, national resources are extracted only with
due regard for the environment and to the benefit of the entire
Armenian people.

We the people wholeheartedly support Armenia’s economic development,
but that will happen in earnest only when rights rule, the environment
commands respect, and the rank-and-file citizen rises to become master
of his homeland.

une mediation des Allies dans la guerre contre la Grèce. Mahmud II (20
juillet 1784 – 1er juillet 1839) fut sultan de l’Empire ottoman, du 15

son cousin Selim III, visant a restaurer l’autorite centrale dans

(dans Radikal ndt) m’a rappele la destruction des documents relatifs
au Genocide armenien. La destruction systematique de documents semble
etre une partie significative de notre culture. Le quotidien Sabah,
dans son edition du 7 novembre 1918, precisait que les documents
officiels relatifs au Genocide armenien cherches ensuite par le
gouvernement, n’avaient pas pu etre trouves. Il declare en outre que
Talaat Pacha et son entourage, avant de quitter le gouvernement,
avaient probablement detruit la totalite des ordres relatifs a
l’ensemble du Genocide armenien. L’article des informations reflète la
verite. D’ailleurs, en mai 1919, dans le requisitoire du procès de la
Cour martiale du Parti ” Union et Progrès ” (CUP) les procureurs ont
declare que les documents appartenant a la fois a l’Organisation
Speciale et au Comite Central du Comite ” Union et Progrès ” avaient
ete voles. Le Procureur militaire a ajoute en outre que le chef de la
police de cette periode, Aziz Bey, avait atteste que Talaat Pacha,
avant sa demission, avait emporte avec lui de son bureau plusieurs

Retour en Armenie pour Vilik BAYADYAN ?

Les ravages inhumains du non sens et de l’injustice !

Pour Arthur et Karen Bayadyan, elèves du lycee Albert Bayet de Tours,
l’expression ” Joyeux Noël ” est d’une indicible cruaute. Leur père,
enferme depuis 17 jours au Centre de retention administrative du
Mesnil-Amelot, doit etre expulse de force vers l’Armenie le 26
decembre.

Mais l’Armenie, pour les parents de Karen et Arthur, ca ne veut rien
dire d’autre que l’enfer. Et pour les deux lyceens qui n’y sont pas
nes et n’y sont jamais alles, ca ne veut rien dire du tout.

C’est en 1988, voici donc 24 ans que Vilik BAYADYAN a quitte
l’Armenie, avec son epouse et leur 1er fils Vrej, pour ne plus subir
les violences et les persecutions infligees dans ce pays aux couples
mixtes ; il est en effet Armenien chretien, et sa femme est d’une
famille Azeri musulmane.

Ils se sont alors installes en Russie, a Stavropol, où sont nes
Arthur en 1991 et Karen en 1994. Ils y sont restes jusqu’aux flambees
nationalistes ” anti-caucasiennes ” qui commencent en 2003 et dont ils
sont la cible. Ils fuient en Grèce, puis tentent de retourner en Russie
y retrouver Vrej en 1988. Immediatement, les menaces reprennent. Ils
decident alors de s’exiler en France. Ils s’installent a Tours en
septembre 2008, mais leurs demandes d’asile sont rejetees.

” Sans papiers ” depuis fevrier 2012, M. Bayadyan a ete arrete le
7 decembre près de Cholet (Maine-et-Loire). Son expulsion forcee ce
26 decembre, qui n’a d’autre ” justification ” que de permettre la
realisation des quotas ministeriels, au mepris du droit de chacun de
vivre près des siens, est inacceptable !

Faxez et mailez pour la liberation immediate de M. Bayadyan, liberation
qui permettrait a tous les membres de la famille de faire une demande
de regularisation au titre de la circulaire du 28-11-2012.

On n’attend aucune hausse des prix de la viande avant les festivites
du Nouvel An a declare le chef du departement veterinaire du ministère
de l’Agriculture Ashot Hovhannisyan.

Selon lui, une hausse d’environ 8 a 10 % pourrait etre enregistree
seulement sur le prix du porc, le plat traditionnel du Nouvel An
en Armenie.

Les prix de la viande restent stable grâce a la forte production de
l’industrie de la viande a dit Ashot Hovhannisyan.

L’Armenie avait 28000 tetes de betail et 60 000 moutons et chèvres
en plus a la date du 1er janvier 2012.

” Cela a ete une performance sans precedent compare aux 30 ou 40
dernières annees. Nous etions en avance par rapport a tous les autres
pays de la CEI ” a dit Ashot Hovhannisyan.

La forte production a mene a une reduction considerable du prix des
produits de la viande ces 4 ou 5 derniers mois.

En ete, le prix du kilo d’agneau etait de 3500 drams, tandis que
maintenant il est de 2500 a 2600 drams. Les prix du boeuf sont tombes
de 2700 drams a 2500 drams a dit Ashot Hovhannisyan.

Le prix du porc est passe de 3500 drams en ete a 3000 drams maintenant.

Plus de 160 representants des medias ont signe une lettre au president
de l’Assemblee nationale Hovik Abrahamyan, lui demandant de donner
une evaluation politique de la mauvaise conduite d’un depute du
Parti Republicain d’Armenie, Mher Sedrakyan, qui est implique dans un
scandale après avoir menace de ” briser la mâchoire ” d’un journaliste
qui lui demandait des commentaires.

La lettre, qui a deja ete transmis a l’Assemblee nationale, affirme
que les parlementaires se comportent de facon inappropriee avec les
journalistes.

“L’incident avec Mher Sedrakyan est juste un exemple recent qui
fait deborder le vase. Dans notre travail, nous devons nous associer
souvent avec des deputes qui ne connaissent pas les simples règles de
la communication humaine “, dit la lettre. Elle appelle les autorites
policières a faire une enquete.

“Nous n’attendons pas de condamnation, nous ne prevoyons pas
d’expressions de regret Nous exigeons une evaluation politique de ce
qui s’est passe et vos assurances en tant que president du Parlement,
qu’aucun incident restera sans consequences. Nous exigeons egalement
que Mher Sedrakian s’excuse publiquement pour son comportement ”
dit la lettre.

PROSPEROUS ARMENIA PARTY’S PASSIVITY IN PRE-ELECTORAL PERIOD INADMISSIBLE – HERITAGE PARTY DEPUTY LEADER

Deputy leader of Heritage party, summing up the passing year at
the meeting with reporters, considered the passive behavior of the
Prosperous Armenia party (PAP) in the coming presidential election
unacceptable.

“I regret that the PAP will not take part in the election as having
such number of MPs they had no right to give up desperately and stand
aside. A serious process is under way and not supporting anyone
is out of any political definitions, it is not a boycott either,
it is a passive non-participation, which is not acceptable,” Armen
Martirosyan said.

He said two political figures are clearly running for presidency. “Of
course, I am first of all speaking about Raffi Hovhannisyan and
secondly about Serzh Sargsyan. Levon Ter-Petrosyan will state about his
decision in two days, with Hrant Bagratyan’s decision being connected
with it. It has been left to wait for the decision of the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D),” he said.

Referring to the May parliamentary elections, Armen Martirosyan said
that though the Heritage has been attacked from different sides,
it managed to enter the parliament.

Speaking about the conflict situation with Free Democrats, he stressed
that in spite of it the Heritage party’s decision to run with joint
list was right.

“I consider going to elections with Free Democrats and civil
society circles a right decision. Heritage has always been an active
cooperating force and the cooperation with Free Democrats which was
not an alliance but just a joint list with Heritage a right thing,”
he said.

Martirosyan said the conflict with Free Democrats has been caused
only by its leader Khachatur Kokobelyan. “Of course, problems raised
because of Khachatur Kokobelyan, it was not Heritage’s problem but
Kokobelyan’s,” he said.

At the same time Heritage party’s deputy head stressed that current
parliament does not correspond to their idea of how it should be. “It
should comprise of political elite and not town authorities or
businessmen,” he said.

Speaking about Armenia’s foreign direction, Martirosyan said Heritage
is for heading to EU, but it does not mean it wants to cut relations
with Russia, but have just good-neighborly relations with that country.

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team will conduct the
first practice session of 2013 on January 12-26 in Tsaghkadzor town.

The athletes will further participate in an international tournament,
due February 14-17 in Ukraine.

“The wrestlers to show good results in Ukraine will be included in
Armenia’s line-up for the European championships, due March 19-24
in Tbilisi,” chief coach of Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team Araik
Baghdadyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, adding that 2012 was not
that successful for Armenian wrestlers.
