“We won’t be silent” youth initiative has disseminated a statement
drawing the attention of the public to the second part of the video
series “False Values” which this time presents the condition of Srvegh
monastery built in 13th century.

The monastery is on the edge of collapse being left to the oblivion
in the Armenian province of Tavush.

“Seeing the condition of the temple, the legendary phrase of Karekin
II [Catholicos of All Armenians] becomes more up to date – I have no
relation to the monasteries on those hills. This very phrase has been
chosen as the slogan for the “False Values” series,” the initiative’s
press release says.

Heritage Leader’s Struggle Not Against Ex-Pm, Party Rep. Says

HERITAGE LEADER’S STRUGGLE NOT AGAINST EX-PM, PARTY REP. SAYS

January 16, 2013 – 15:56 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Heritage leader Raffi Hovannissian’s struggle is not
aimed against Freedom party leader, former prime minister of Armenia
Hrant Bagratyan, party representative said.

Dwelling on the ex-prime minister’s chances at the upcoming
presidential elections, Stepan Safaryan noted that both Mr Bagratyan
and Mr Hovannissian represent the opposition, refusing to compare
their campaigns.

“Freedom party leader may perhaps benefit the most from garnering the
votes of the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc’s electorate
during its dissolution. Presently, he is likely to secure the backing
of some voters advocating liberal ideas,” Heritage representative
said.

Mafia King’s Murder Will Spur Chaos, Says Crime Fiction Writer

MAFIA KING’S MURDER WILL SPUR CHAOS, SAYS CRIME FICTION WRITER

16.01.13

The murder of Ded Hassan (Aslan Usoyan), the mafia boss killed in
Moscow earlier today, is likely to create a chaos in the criminal
world, according an Armenian crime fiction writer.

Speaking to Tert.am, publicist and criminal expert Sergey Galoyan
explained that warlike situations in the criminal world often cause
the defeated side to use weapons. “If one side is defeated in the
criminal world, it starts resorting to gun. And the winning side
begins protecting its achievements with the use of weapons, so we
are likely to see more bloodsheds,” he said.

Galoyan, who is the author of about 30 crime books, noted that the
bilateral war between the Georgian and Slavonic criminal worlds had
begun back in 2008. He said Ded Hasan’s death could provide an answer
to certain questions in the Georgians’ favor.

“That’s a struggle first of all for the construction of the Sochi
Olympic facilities which have attracted investments of over 80 billion
Rubles. And the Georgians wish to take that under control,” he said.

Galoyan believes Ded Hasan’s murder may also spur certain unrest in
the Armenian criminal world given the ethnic Yuzid mafia king also
had connections with the Armenian notorieties.

“Murders are perhaps possible in Armenia, but we do not almost have
criminal world representatives here. The powerful figres are in
Russia. So the fight against the Armenians will gain a new momentum,”
said the writer.

Galoyan doesn’t rule out the possibility of political re-arrangements
but he isn’t inclined to think the murder was politically motivated.

“There’s no political motive here. An instruction by the Russian
criminal world is also ruled out. The order could have come mainly
from Georgia,” he noted.

The crime writer is sure that Ded Hassan’s closest criminal circles
will revenge his death sometime in the near future.

Is President Getting Ready For War?

IS PRESIDENT GETTING READY FOR WAR?

Politics – Wednesday, 16 January 2013, 12:22

On January 15 Serzh Sargsyan visited the ministry of defense and held
an inclusive meeting with the heads of the legislative, executive and
judicial bodies, the official website of the president informs. The
meeting was a summary of the results of Collaboration 2012 and
Strategic command and headquarters military exercise within the
framework of CSTO, as well as if preceding stage involving state and
territorial administrations. Addressing the meeting, Serzh Sargsyan
said we must be ready for a war every day from the regime which
preaches military adventurism, Serzh Sargsyan said. “I think our
neighbors are aware that the war will be as destructive for Armenia
as for Azerbaijan. But I do not think that Azerbaijan’s leaders are
concerned about the destiny of people. They will be ready to resume
the war if they make sure they have an absolute advantage to Armenia
or if it would be necessary to detract him from internal problems,”
he said. Armenia and Artsakh do not want a war but everyone must be
confident that we will give a dignified answer to any challenge,
he said. The people of Artsakh will never ever face the threat of
physical destruction. The Republic of Armenia is its guarantor,
the president of Armenia stated.

On Wednesday evening the House of Parliament of the Great Britain
approved decision to grant the Scottish Parliament right of a
referendum concerning the independence of that region from the rest
of the country. Last week the document received a unanimous consent
in the House of Commons. So, the discussion of the issue in the United
Kingdom is over.

It should be noted, that approaches to this highly important event for
the Scottish people will be summed up in a draft law, which will be
offered by the First Minister of Scottish Government Alex Salmond. The
government plans to hold a referendum on independence in fall 2014.

According to the British Cabinet of ministers, approved draft by both
chambers will allow to pass a ‘legal, fair and decisive’ referendum.

The principles of those procedures are outlined in the Edinburgh
Agreement, which has been ratified by the First Minister of Scotland
Alex Salmond and the Prime Minister of Great Britain David Cameron
last year.

The transfer of the right to referendum to the Scottish Parliament
means the end of the discussion on the criteria of will. ‘It will
also allow us to start the “Big Discussion” on the issue whether
Scotland can be separated from the Great Britain or not’ said the
British Minister Michael Moore.

He also noted that the decision on the fate of Scotland in the United
Kingdom will become the most important decision in life that they as
Scottish people make.

ITAR-TASS reported that the order approved by Parliament was passed
to /dear Majesty / Secret Council, for the final approval. It should
be noted that this is an actual formal Council of British Queen and
includes the senior political figures of the country.
