Secretary Of Prosperous Armenia Faction: Armenia’s State Budget Grad

SECRETARY OF PROSPEROUS ARMENIA FACTION: ARMENIA’S STATE BUDGET GRADUALLY STOPS BEING PROPERTY OF A NARROW GROUP OF PEOPLE

ARMINFO
Friday, June 21, 17:19

There are internal problems between the Government of Armenia and
the Control Chamber. The Head of the Control Chamber seriously blames
the government members for serious abuse and fraud, and against this
background it is noteworthy that the state budget is no longer anything
inviolable in the hands of a narrow group of people, Naira Zohrabyan,
Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) faction, told ArmInfo.

She thinks that the abuse by the middle management could not occur
without the approval of the higher management.

Zohrabyan said that in order to eliminate the total corruption, the
top leadership should display a political will, because no reports of
the Control Chamber will help without the political will of the power.

She stressed that if the power lacks a political will to cut off the
thieves’ hands, the parliamentary hearings on the Control Chamber’s
report will be just waste of time, a performance and a show.

“But there is one positive thing – the large-scale abuse is spoken
about in public, and this inspires hope that the situation will be
improved in the future. This may give an impetus to specific measures
following the public hearings”, she said.

To recall, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the
Government’s session that the figures Ishkhan Zakaryan presents
about the abuse have nothing to do with the reality. Sargsyan said
that 70% of the state budget is 700 bln AMD, and if one believes the
Control Chamber, it turns out that all fields experience large-scale
corruption, which is impossible. In the meantime, the Premier
instructed his ministers either to deny the information or to be
called to account.

ARA PAPYAN: ARMENIA SHOULD EXPRESS OFFICIAL POSITION ON RUSSIA’S SALE OF ARMS TO AZERBAIJAN

15:33 21/06/2013 ” POLITICS

Director of Modus Vivendi center, political scientist Ara Papyan
condemns Russia’s sale of arms to Azerbaijan, saying that Russia
should not have done so because it is Armenia’s ally.

According to him, Armenia should express official position on it,
saying that the move is unacceptable and that an allied country should
not act like this.

“Our ally arms our enemy. Armenia should condemn it officially,”
Mr Papyan told reporters.

Armenia is rather loyal to its ally, which sometimes results in
economic losses, according to the analyst.

He added that Russia should know that Armenia always has an alternative
and that Armenia is in vulnerable position due to the lack of any
alternative.

Gonzalo Guarch: It’s Important For The World To Know About The Armen

GONZALO GUARCH: IT’S IMPORTANT FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW ABOUT THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Karen Ghazaryan
“Radiolur”

Author of a number of books about the Armenian Genocide, Spanish writer
Gonzalo Guarch is visiting Armenia. His two novels – the Armenian
Family Tree and the Armenian Testament – have been translated into
different languages. The third book of the series – the White Mountain
– has already been published in Spanish and Russian, and will most
likely be available in Armenia by the end of the year.

“Though I’m a Spanish writer, I’m feeling more and more Armenian,”
Gonzalo Guarch told reporters in Yerevan, adding that the Armenian
and Spanish peoples have much in common. Any Spaniard will feel at
home in Armenia, he said.

The decision to turn to the Armenian Genocide issue could be a topic
of a whole novel, the writer said. Years ago he met an Armenian in
Switzerland, who asked Guarch to write about his family. The meeting
became decisive for his decision.

Any of the three volumes is based on a true story. The writer said he
wants the books to be translated into different languages. “History is
a very bright thing, which has the power to convince people,” he said.

According to Guarch, it’s important for the world to know about the
crime against Armenian to allow the reoccurrence of such crimes in
the future. “Ignorance if the mother of the lie,” he said.

Gonzalo Guarch has been awarded with Movses Khorenatsi Medal, according
to a presidential decree. He will meet President Serzh Sargsyan during
the third visit to Armenia.
