contre-espionnage, a recemment devoile ” Three ¨Points ” [Trois

Chamber Of Advocates Of Csto

CHAMBER OF ADVOCATES OF CSTO
Yeghisheh Metsarents

Story from Lragir.am News:

18:16 29/01/2013

A memorandum was signed on January 29 to set up the Academy of CSTO.

It was signed by CSTO Secretary General Borduzha and the NSC Secretary
Arthur Baghdasaryan. Reporters were told that the purpose of the
academy is to upgrade cooperation between Armenia and CSTO, train
professionals in military industry, analysts and political scientists.

In brief, a CSTO blacksmith shop is established in Armenia which
will ensure a higher level of protection of deals the members of the
alliance will make to sell strategic weapons to hostile Azerbaijan.

Some Armenia-based political scientists and analysts are already
set to defend deals between Azerbaijan and Russia which contradict
to Armenia’s national interest. At least, the experts of Armenia,
a sheer crowd, are busy with advocacy. In other words, the problem
is not to protect and defend the Armenian-Russian friendship or
alliance but Russia’s encroachments in the form of different deals
with Azerbaijan and Turkey.

However, apparently the community cannot carry this weight, and it
is necessary to recruit new people for defense, which CSTO Academy
will do, not serving comprehensive modernization of the security of
Armenia but advocacy of encroachments under the influence of Russia’s
economic or political lobby against the Armenian-Russian alliance.

Or more large-scale prospects are planned in the nearest future
therefore the constitution of the chamber of advocates is not
sufficient, and new recruits are needed to ensure the upcoming
missions.

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE DEMANDS END TO CRIMINAL-OLIGARCHIC SYSTEM IN ARMENIA

19:36 ~U 29.01.13

An end to the criminal and oligarchic system in Armenia is the aim
of one of the presidential candidates Andrias Ghukasyan, who is on
a hunger-strike now.

During a Facebook press conference organized by Azatutyun Radio, Mr
Ghukasyan expressed the confidence that all the citizens interested
in eradication of this system will vote for him.

In response to a remark about ~Sthe rules of the hunger-strike,~T he
said that that drinks only water, feels well and intends to continue
his hunger-strike until the election results have been summed up.

Mr Ghukasyan is ready to lead a revolution after the presidential
election.

~SI think my demands are essential and can be satisfied. If necessary,
I will start a civil struggle against the illegitimate authorities,~T
he said.

In response to a Facebook user~Rs demand for the wording the Chairman
of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Tigran Mukushyan could use
to invalidate Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan~Rs registration,
Mr Ghukasyan said that the CEC Chairman would resign if he were a
responsible citizen.

~SIt is obvious that a party distributing election bribes is
participating in the presidential election. If the legal grounds for
rejecting this party~Rs registration lack, the official is supposed
to resign,~T he said.

He rules out his supporting any of the opposition candidates because
the upcoming presidential election is nothing but a show.

Istanbul: ‘I Wish I Wasn’T Armenian’

‘I wish I wasn’t Armenian’

28 January 2013, Monday

ORHAN KEMAL CENGÝZ
[email protected]

On Monday when I was turning the pages of the Taraf daily, I came
across this very striking headline, “I wish I wasn’t Armenian.” These
are the words of an old Armenian lady whom the Taraf correspondent
called Aunt Seta. Ms. Seta is a close friend of the four Armenian
women who were attacked in the Samatya neighborhood of Ýstanbul
recently. One of the ladies died while the others were seriously
injured. No suspect has been caught yet. Some argue that these ladies,
all of whom were over 80 and living alone, were attacked by thieves
whose only intentions were to steal their valuables.

Well, as I discussed in my earlier column, even if the intent of the
attackers was robbery, this does not change the fact that there is an
obvious racial hatred behind these assaults. If their only purpose was
to steal a few items from these old ladies they could easily
incapacitate the women without the brutality. But instead they
brutally beat and stabbed these women. And we have additional
information provided by the neighbors, including Ms. Seta, who said
that the assaulted Armenian women were actually quite poor. There are
of course other theories circulating currently. One of them claims
that the attackers intend to scare Armenians away from Samatya in
order to seize their properties. Whatever financial or material gains
may appear to be behind these attacks, I do not think they eradicate
the racial hatred apparent in their execution.

And it seems to me that these attacks have already achieved a lot. As
you can see from the words of Ms. Seta, they have managed to plant
profound hopelessness in Armenians and open up some old wounds which
might not have healed completely.

Maybe we need to look at the broader picture to gain a wider
perspective on these recent attacks against Armenians in Ýstanbul.

Very recently a Greek church in Ýstanbul was stoned by “unknown”
people. Then, the police revealed an extremely detailed assassination
plan against one of the pastors of the Ýzmit Protestant Church. The
police announced that they caught a dozen suspects who appear to have
been preparing for this attack for months. They are from different
cities. Amongst them are women and some of them penetrated the church
disguised as newly converted Christians. This assassination plan seems
very professional and organized to me.

There was another concerning development in Ýstanbul very recently as
well. An Armenian intellectual, who does not want to reveal his
identity, told me that he barely managed to escape unscathed from a
planned attack by two youngsters who were sent by an ultranationalist
who was angry with some of the words that this Armenian intellectual
had made on TV.

Well, in a country like Turkey, if several things as I mentioned
happens in a matter of weeks, we should have every reason to believe
that they are organized and somehow connected to each other.

Apparently, some circles are frantically trying to create an
atmosphere of terror for non-Muslims in Turkey. When there was a
comparable level of activities against non-Muslims in 2006 and 2007,
they ended up in disaster with a string of murders of Christians:
Father Andrea Santoro in Trabzon, Hrant Dink in Ýstanbul and three
Christians in Malatya were killed.

Since the beginning of the Ergenekon investigation in 2007, we have
not witnessed such kinds of attacks against non-Muslims. Some cells
seemed to have been reactivated to give Christians a hard time once
again. I really hope that officials will grasp the severity and
gravity of the situation soon and act quickly in order to bring the
attackers and the people behind them to justice. This situation is
quite serious and alarming!

No Other Option But International Recognition Of Nagorno-Karabakh. N

NO OTHER OPTION BUT INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH. NKR PRIME MINISTER

17:50, 29 January, 2013

YEREVAN, JANUARY 29, ARMENPRESS: There is no other option but
international recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Yet there is
a long way for reaching it. Armenpress reports this was declared by
Prime Minister of NKR Arayik Harutyunyan in the interview posted in
official Facebook page of “Azat Hayrenik” party.

NKR Prime assured that strengthening and active cooperation of trinity,
thus Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora, is of crucial importance.

“We should have economically powerful, secure country which would
be the most vivid evidence to prove the world our right to announce
Artsakh independent and our acknowledgement of that responsibility,”
Harutyunyan has noted, adding it is logically assumed that Armenia
must do its first step, recognizing NKR independence.

“It is logically assumed; therefore it is a rather delicate political
issue which requires a full and comprehensive observation and
predictions of possible consequences. I am sure that choosing right
political moment, Armenia will recognize NKR independence. Armenian
recognition of NKR independence is not obligated therefore, it will
be evaluated,” he said.

NKR Prime highlighted numerous links between Armenia and
Nagorno-Karabakh, including mutual visits on state level as well as
interparliamentary and governmental events, which means that Armenia
has de facto recognized independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In its turn “Freedom House” human rights organization has included
Karabakh Republic in the list of partly free countries.

According to Arayik Harutyunyan that fact would hardly have any
influence on negotiation process first of all because the same
organization included Karabakh in the list of not free countries in
its penultimate report.

“By the way, neighboring Azerbaijan was once again included
in the list of not free countries. So I believe evaluations of
non-governmental organizations are not essential for country’s
political orientations. Concerning evaluations of “Freedom House”
over NKR, I consider them to be wrong as Nagorno-Karabakh is a free
country,” Prime said.
