About 1900 cargo wagons work today in “South Caucasian Railway”
CJSC. The part of them is completely new; the other part has been
transferred from “Armenian Railway” company.

Press Secretary of “South Caucasian Railway” company Vahe Davtyan told
Armenpress that at the moment the works carried out in this sphere
are continued, particularly, within the frameworks of repair of the
rolling-stock got from “Armenian Railway” by concession contract.

Nearly 120 million rubles have been spent on wagon economy in 2009,
which is the 5% of the railway investment program. And in the running
year 106 million rubles are intended for wagon economy, which will
make the 9.3 % of the investment program.

About 5500 rubles are intended in 2008-2010 for updating of
the infrastructures within the frameworks of the commitments
of “South Caucasian Railway” investment program intended by a
concession contract, and the fund for improvement of the works of
the rolling-stock makes about 3350 million rubles. This year the

Referring to the diversity of the transported cargos, the press
secretary noted that “South Caucasian Railway” currently implements
transportation of cement, oil and other products. In the first 5 months
of 2010 nearly 976 million tone cargo transportation was intended to
implement, but that number has made over 1 billion tone.

The annual cargo transportation capacity of the railway is annually
50 million tone on average, and the passenger one – 5.5 million. But
these data are calculated for all the four direction of the borders
of the Republic – Ayrum-Sadakhlu, Akhuryan-Dogukapi, Yeraskh-Veligad,
Ijevan-Barkhudaghli, while currently only the railway of the first
direction works.
