ABOVIAN HOSTING LABOR FAIR

The central Armenian town of Abovian in Kotayk province, 20 km
off Yerevan is hosting today a labor fair, initiated by the State
Employment Center.

The goal of the event is to help job seekers to meet with employers who
have vacancies. In a press release the State Employment Center said
the labor fair ‘has a large significance for the region’s economic
development and may encourage businessmen to increase or make fresh
investments in the region.’

The State Employment Center organized the first labor fair in 2007. In
2008 it was assisted by USAID and World Bank. Last year it held six
labor fairs in different towns attracting 220 employers and 11,000
job seekers. The employers offered last year 1,360 vacancies.

As a result 400 people were said to have found jobs. The labor fair
in Abovian is the fifth this year. It has attracted 34 employers who
offer 130 vacancies. Some 2,500 job seekers are expected to visit it.

YEREVAN, October 29, /ARKA/. An Armenian daily Haykakan Zhamanak
(Armenian Time) said in its today~Rs issue that the chief executive
manager of the Russian-owned Armenian Electrical Networks (AEN),
Yevgeny Gladunchik, will quit later this year to take a job at a
different company, run by Russian Inter RAO UES.

The daily claims his resignation will be announced in early 2011. It
says Gladunchik has left for Moscow. A press officer for the company,
Natalia Sarajian, confirmed that Gladunchik left for Moscow, but for
adjusting next year~Rs business plan of the company and denied rumors
that her boss is going to quit.

Central Bank Expects Armenian Economy To Expand 2.4-2.7% This Year

CENTRAL BANK EXPECTS ARMENIAN ECONOMY TO EXPAND 2.4-2.7% THIS YEAR

Armenia’s Central Bank said in its Program of Money and Credit Policies
for Quarter Four 2010 that the economy will expand by 2.4-2.7% this
year. The forecast for the first nine months is 4-5%.

The Bank says economic growth risks are bilateral depending both on
external and internal factors. But except for industrial sector risk
all other risks have prevailing impact on economic expansion.

The Central Bank has revised downward the full-year industrial growth
forecast to 6.5-8.5% . The forecast for January-September is 5-7%
industrial output growth. The Central Bank has also revised downward
its full-year forecast for construction sector growth to 0.5-2.5%
expecting it to growth by 1.5-3.5% in the first nine months of 2010.

The forecast for services has also been revised downward to 4.5-6.5%.

The Central Bank expects this sector to post a 2.5-4.% growth for
January-September. The Central Bank also expects the agriculture to
contract by 13-16% this year and rise by 7-9% in January-September
2011.

On October 29, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation led
by Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay. Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan was
also present at the meeting, NA press office reported.

Welcoming the guest Hovik Abrahamyan attached importance to deepening
relations with Canada, intensification of interparliamentary ties
and as NA Speaker expressed readiness to support cooperation in
different spheres.

NA Speaker stressed importance of cooperation between local
self-government bodies. He also attached importance to implementation
of concrete programs.

Montreal Mayor thanked for the reception underlining importance of
bilateral ties, development of tourism, economic cooperation. Mr.

Tremblay conveyed the invitation of Canadian parliament Speaker to
Hovik Abrahamyan to pay an official visit to Canada.

THE MEETING OF ARMENIAN, AZERBAIJANI AND RUSSIAN PRESIDENTS IN
Astrakhan helped relive the tension over the Nagorno Karabakh problem,
Armenian Revolutionary Federation Armenian Cause and Political Affairs
Bureau Director Giro Manoyan told reporters.

According to him, Ilham Aliyev’s recent statements, Serzh Sargsyan’s
responses, as well as repeated violations of ceasefire regime had
aggravated the situation over the NKR conflict.

Manoyan noted that such meetings reduce border incidents.

President Serzh Sargsyan received the credentials of the newly
appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel
Republic to Armenia Shmuel Meyrom.

According to the Press Office of the Armenian President, the
President has congratulated the Ambassador and expressed hope that the
Armenian-Israeli relations during his term of office will strengthen
and develop more. The head of the Republic has stressed that the
two ancient nations which have deep historical roots and a lot of
commonness by fate are obliged to have close relations and active
cooperation both in political and economic as well as in cultural
fields.

Ambassador Shmuel Meyrome assured that he will do his best to develop
good relationships between the two countries after the establishment of
diplomatic ties, as Israel wants to make this relationship excellent.

The Embassy of Poland in Armenia, Armenian Ministry of Culture under
the High Patronage of First Lady Rita Sargsyan are holding Chopin Year
republican contest festival of young performers between November 1
and 11 in Yerevan. The event is timed to the 200th birth anniversary
of great Polish composer Frédéric Chopin.

The festival aims at revealing young talented musicians in Armenia.

The State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia will perform a gala
concert at Aram Khachatryan concert hall on November 11, as part of
the festival.

Spanish Businessmen To Make Investments In Jermuk

SPANISH BUSINESSMEN TO MAKE INVESTMENTS IN JERMUK

Spanish investors are interested in development programs of the town
of Jermuk. The investment phase of Jermuk development will start soon,
Mekhak Apresyan, Head of the Department of Tourism and Territorial
Economic Development of the Ministry of Economy, told Aysor. The Tiger
Dev Swiss company of Switzerland has already completed the project
of engineering solutions, including 3D picture and three-dimensional
model. The chief plan of Jermuk will also undergo changes in accordance
with the project. On October 15, Swiss company’s work was presented
to the Armenian President and businessmen.

According to M. Apresyan, a managing organization will be established
in the near future to control implementation of the program.

“Our aim is to make Jermuk a tourism center for all seasons of
the year. When working out the strategy of town development with
the support of USAID’s Competitive Armenian Private Sector Program
(CAPS) e took into account Jermuk potential, climate conditions,” M.
Apresyan said.

“We seek to make Jermuk an alternative tourism center to well-known
international winter and health tourism centers. We want to raise the
number of tourists to 100,000 and to provide USD 100m annual income
which will create over 4000 jobs,” official said.

The program of Jermuk development is set to be implemented by 2020.

According to the NKR Defense Ministry Press Office more than 25 cases
of ceasefire regime violation have been recorded on the contact
line of Karabakh and Azerbaijan. Around 450 shots have been fired
to the directions of Hadrut, Martuni, Askeran and Martakert by the
Azerbaijani snipers.

After the actions in response undertaken by the Karabakhi subdivisions
the enemy was silenced.

During Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s official visit to Iran between
October 25 and 26, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen
Ashotyan and Iranian Minister of Science, Research, and Technology
Kamran Daneshjoo signed a Program for Educational, Scientific,
Technological Cooperation between governments of Armenia and Iran
for 2010-2013.

According to the program, the parties will exchange information
on Armenian and Iranian educational systems. They will assist
establishment of direct ties between universities of the two countries,
will exchange programs of higher, vocational and postuniversity
education.

The program envisages establishment of scientific research centers in
Armenia and Iran to study the language, literature, historic-cultural,
spiritual heritage and civilization of the two countries.

A chair of Islamic Studies is set to be founded in Yerevan State
University and Armenology chair at some university of Iran. The
parties will encourage mutual visits of scientists and lecturers,
will assist research projects of mutual interest.
