YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: The action of the “Powerful Turkey”
party had positive impact on the image of Armenia, director of the
globalization and regional cooperation analytical center Stepan
Grigpryan said. According to him, the circumstance that heads of the
Turkish party may openly express their opinion on a public level,
shows that Armenia is a free country.

“The issue made a great noise both in Armenia and Turkey,” Stepan
Grigoryan said, reminding that leader of the “Powerful Turkey” party
Tuna Beklevic used in Armenia “great tragedy” expression.

Mr Grigoryan said the action of the heads of the “Powerful Turkey”
pursued propaganda goals before the 2011 parliamentary elections in
that country: and what they did, worked quite well. “If previously
no one in Turkey knew about this party, now they have become quite
known,” the political analyst said.

STEPAN GRIGORYAN: TURKEY DID NOT FIND STRENGTH TO RATIFY ARMENIAN-TURKISH PROTOCOLS

ARMENPRESS

YEREVAN

Turkey did not find strength to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols,
Director of the Analytical Center for Globalization and Regional
Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan said today at a meeting with journalists,
adding that nevertheless, sooner or later the government of Turkey
will regulate the relations with Armenia.

Referring to the fact that Turkey has taken away Armenia and
Russia from the list of its national security threats, the political
analyst stressed that it is the logical continuation of regulation of
relations, but from time to time, motivated by different conditions,
the country either roughens its positions or smoothens.

“Of course, the multilateral mechanisms of regulation of relations
are not excluded, but the parties must come to the bilateral format
of regulation,” Mr. Grigoryan said. Speaking of taking away Russia
from the same list, he noted that it is not possible to implement
large-scale economic and energy programs with a state and consider
it a threat of national security.

Taking Armenia and Russia out from the list of national security
threats, Turkey has involved Israel in the latter.

Murder Committed By Underage Typical Of Turkey, Expert Says

MURDER COMMITTED BY UNDERAGE TYPICAL OF TURKEY, EXPERT SAYS

Investigation into Hrant Dink murder case will progress as much as
the Turkish ruling party wants it to, Turkish studies expert Ruben
Melkonyan told the journalists today.

According to him, the trail continued for over 2 years and Dink’s
lawyers expressed concern over certain points in their report. They
think that the case should be considered as a whole, including
preparation stage, the murder itself and further events.

“The lawyers believe that unless it is considered as a whole,
unbiased investigation should not be expected. However, judicial
authorities have separated the stages. Various Turkish structures,
such as police, security service and prosecutors were not cooperating
and exchanging information. Moreover, they were hiding some facts
impeding investigation,” the expert stressed. Presently there are
certain officials who tried to withhold information on Dink’s case
getting advantage of their post.

Melkonyan considers that initially Turkish authorities made a hero
of Dink’s murderer. He had privileged conditions in jail and even
managed to get married. Besides, the authorities have decided he would
be tried at a juvenile court which will ease his sentencing by 5 years.

He will not be sentenced to life imprisonment and will manage to join
the list of Turkish heroes.

“Murder committed by hands of an underage is typical of Turkey,
it is a mission of youth organizations. Ogun Samast was a youth
organization member as well. Taking into account the developments,
Dink’s lawyers think that if the trial continues like this, the case
will not be cracked,” he concluded.

Hrant Dink, chief editor of Agos bilingual Armenian-Turkish newspaper
was killed in Istanbul on January 19, 2007.

A. ZAQARYAN: ALIYEV’S INTERVIEW A GENERAL ATTEMPT TO MISLEAD INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

Panorama

Armenia

“Aliyev’s statements to Ukrainian paper concerning the conflict
of Nagorno-Karabakh are general attempts to cynically mislead the
international community and for 100% forge the reality. For those who
have fallen under Aliyev’s frauds impression, it’s a must to underscore
that Armenia adopted the role of peace guarantor of NK people, which
is being threatened day by day by Azerbaijan,” NA Deputy, member of
Republican faction Artak Zaqaryan told Panorama.am.

According to him, the international community, whom Aliyev is intended
to deceive should know that the historical and present facts of
Karabakh have nothing in common with the lessons that Aliyev taught.

“To make sure, one shouldn’t listen to Aliyev, but should visit
the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. As for the political will of the
Armenian side over the resolution of the conflict, it’s well aware for
all the interested parties. Armenia is ready to advance the resolution
of the conflict based on the international norms,” NA Deputy said.

“We would say it’s Aliyev who delays the conflict resolution based on
the recommendations of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. It’s Azerbaijan
who ignores UN Assembly resolutions violating the ceasefire regime
every day.”

“The statement spread by Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has nothing to
do with the reality. Artsakhi side has not violated the cease-fire
regime and our units open fire only after Azerbaijan violates the
armistice,” the spokesman for the NKR Defense Army commander, Senor
Hasratyan, told Panorama.am commenting on the information spread by
Azerbaijani media as if an Azerbaijani soldier was wounded after the
Armenian side violated the cease-fire regime.

“If Azerbaijan has, in fact suffered, casualties, Azerbaijani media
should look for the causes in the context of the atmosphere prevailing
in the Azerbaijani army,” he said.

Georgia’s New Russian Spy Mystery

GEORGIA’S NEW RUSSIAN SPY MYSTERY

Could Georgia be holding in custody an Anna Chapman of its own?

Suspense is building up around an October 29 Reuters report that
Georgia has arrested some 20 individuals on suspicion of espionage
for Russia. Georgian police so far have neither confirmed nor denied
the information.

When asked to confirm the news at a November 1 press conference,
the Foreign Ministry passed the buck to the Interior Ministry. “The
Foreign Affairs Ministry has no information about this. This case is
being handled entirely by the Interior Ministry,” said Deputy Foreign
Minister Nino Kalandze. The Interior Ministry is expected to unveil
the details of its case later this week.

Georgian news services reported on November 1 that the detainees
include Batumi hotel manager Ruslan Galogre and, allegedly, his
neighbor, a former Armenian Diaspora leader in Achara, the Black Sea
region for which Batumi is the seat. Galogre’s wife confirmed her
husband’s arrest to Interpessnews agency.

The spy alarm has raised recollections of a 2006 crackdown when
Georgia arrested and handed over to Moscow several Russian nationals.

Moscow then responded by severing postal, wire transfer and travel
ties with Tbilisi and deporting scores of Georgians.

This time, the Kremlin seems to be saving its fire until more details
surface. “As far as I know, this involves citizens of Georgia,” said
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. “We do not know anything more
than this.”
