Turkish Minister of Industry and Commerce Nihat Ergun arrived in Kars
city and answered the reporters’ questions at the airport.

Commenting on the statement that Kars suffers economic hardships
due to Armenia-Turkey closed border, the minister again recalled the
Karabakh conflict resolution.

“Turkey regularly takes steps to establish peace and stability in
Caucasus. The swift resolution to Karabakh conflict is a major task
for Turkey as well. The conflict settelmenet is of great significance
both for Armenia and Azerbaijan and other countries in the region,
including Turkey,” the Minister said, stressing if Turkey were not
a tolerant country, Armenia would have face more problems.

The Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Diarbekir Galip
Ensariolglu of Kurdish origin said in a meeting talking about problems
of Kurdish people: “As a society today we bear the punishment of
our sins. We, the Kurds, appeared to be tools of this regime against
Armenians and other nationalities. During those years 25% of people
living in these lands were not Muslims. Armenians were massacred in
our hands,” Turkish “Sabah” daily reports.

Galip Ensarioglu, stating that Kurdish conflict is the most urgent and
significant problem for Turkey today, said: “If the Kurdish conflict
isn’t settled, it will cause raise of great tragedy. This is not only
a problem of Kurds, but all those nations living in Turkey.”

In the first round of World Women’s Championship Armenian chess player
Elina Danielian was defeated by Tatiana Shadrina in 0:2 scores and
was soon left out of the further struggle. Dina Kagramanova was as
well defeated to Nana Dzagnidze. Lilit Mkrtchian and Elmira Skrpchenko
both ended in draw with Zhang Xiaowen and Adela Foisor.

If a draw is recorded, the winner will be defined in tie-break: the
participants will have two sets in 25 minutes+1- seconds for each step;
two sets in 5 minutes+10 seconds and a final set the whites having 6
minutes and the blacks – 5. If again a draw is recorded the advantage
will be given to the blacks.

The Visit Of The Delegation Of NATO Defense College To The Armenian

THE VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF NATO DEFENSE COLLEGE TO THE ARMENIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

On the 1st of December, 2010 the delegation of NATO Defense College,
headed by NDC Commandant Lieutenant-General Wolf-Dieter Loeser
visited the ARM MoD. The delegation, which was in Armenia on a
cognitive-research visit, consisted of senior auditors and academic
staff. The delegation also included a participant from Azerbaijan.

In the Ministry of Defence representatives from the ARM MoD and the
ARM Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave lectures for the senior fellows
of the NATO Defence College. ARM first Deputy Minister of Defence Davit
Tonoyan made an opening speech and introduced the ARM Defence Policy.

ARM Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arman Kirakosyan read a lecture
on the priorities of the Armenian foreign policy.

Thanking for the warm reception and the lectures and discussions,
NATO NDC Commandant, Lieutenant-General Wolf-Dieter Loeser assured
that this visit to Armenia will promote the deepening of knowledge on
regional security matters and ARM defence policy within the auditorium
of the college.

“We are against reopening of foreign-language schools” initiative
today held an action outside the RA National Assembly protesting the
draft amendments to the RA Law on Language.

They argue that parliament majority and government are
anti-nationalists otherwise they wouldn’t propose the disgraceful
amendments.

“We gather here at each four-day session to remind our parliamentarians
about our existence. We call on our deputies to vote against the bill
when it is put to the vote,” said initiative member Armen Hovhannisyan.

The initiative is convinced that their victory is a matter of time.

A working meeting of heads and specialists of departments for combating
trafficking at the ministries of internal affairs of the CSTO member
states kicked off in Yerevan.

Head of the Department for Combating Trafficking at the RA Police
Tigran Petrosyan briefed on prehistory of trafficking origin in
Armenia.

He also referred to cooperation among relevant departments of
ministries of internal affairs and police of the CSTO member states,
what will allow increasing the efficiency of struggle against
trafficking.

Representatives of a range of public organizations also participated
in the meeting.

The working meeting will be continued on December 7, the press service
of the RA Police reported.

Full Shipment Of Gas To Armenia Resumed

FULL SHIPMENT OF GAS TO ARMENIA RESUMED

YEREVAN, December 6, /ARKA/. Shipment of Russian natural gas to
Armenia via Georgia was restored fully at 12 pm today. Currently
Armenia receives 5.5-6 million cubic meters a day, ArmRosGazprom,
a joint Russian-Armenian natural gas operator said.

It said full supply was restored after the completion of repair of a
damaged section of the main pipeline in Georgia that was discovered
on November 24. As a result delivery of gas to Armenia was reduced
to 4 million cubic meters a day.

ARG is the only company dealing with import and distribution of
Russian natural gas coming to Armenia from Russia via Georgia. It was
established in 1997. Russian Gazprom holds the majority stake in it,
the rest is owned by Armenian government.

YEREVAN, December 6. /ARKA/. Interest in strengthening economic
relations on high level in moves into business Armenia and Russia,
said Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritzyan.

Russia continues to occupy the leading place in the list of trade
partners of Armenia. Recently, increase of interest of Russian business
in Armenia is significant. Creation of free economic zones “in which
Russia actively participates” will become an incentive for business
activation and involvement of new investments.

“Today 40 companies of Russian Federation have trade-industrial and
scientific-technical agreements with Armenia and its regions. The
most active is Moscow which has more than half of Armenian-Russian
trade turnover, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Sverdlovsk, Nizhegorodsk regions
and Saint-Petersburg”, he said.

Armenian-Russian cooperation covers the main sectors of economy. The
most important sectors are fuel-energy, mining and chemical
industry, electro-technical, transport, construction, machinery and
communication.

“Priority sectors are IT, electronic and instrument making industries,
jewellery production and diamond cutting, agriculture, services and
tourism spheres”, he said.

Total volume of investments from Russia to Armenia was $191341.6
thousand in January-October 2010, of which direct investments were
$148176.7 thousand.

They make 40.5% of total foreign investments in real sector of Armenia
and 42.5% – direct investments. In 2010 investments of Russia reduced
by 0.3% compared with 2009 and direct investments increased by 21.3%.

Currently, about 1200 enterprises are operating in Armenia with
participation of Russian capital.

YEREVAN, December 6, /ARKA/. Armenia’s industrial output in the first
ten months of 2010 rose by 9.8% year-on-year. In terms of industrial
output growth Armenia was sixth among former Soviet republics which
make the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to CIS
Statistical Committee.

In October Armenia’s industrial production grew by 2.3% from September.

According to CIS Statistical Committee, all member counties saw growth
of their industrial output.

The average year-on-year growth was 9%. The largest growth of 14.5%
was posted by Kyrgyzstan. It was followed by Tajikistan- 10.9%,
Ukraine – 10.7%, Belarus, -10.5%, as well as Kazakhstan – 10.4% and
Russia – 8.6%. The lowest rates of 8.3%, 7.6% and 3% respectively were
shown by Uzbekistan, Moldova and Azerbaijan. No data was available
for Turkmenistan.

Russia invested $191.3 million in Armenia’s economy over the period
between January and September 2010, National Statistical Service of
Armenia reports.

Of this amount, direct investments totaled $148.1 million.

Russia’s investments accounted for 40.5% and its direct investments
for 42.5% of total foreign investments in Armenia’s real sector.

Investments from Russia shrank by 0.3%, while direct investments grew
21.3% in Jan-Sept 2010, compared with the same period a year earlier.

Russia is Armenia’s largest investor this year.

According to the statistical report, 52.4% of Russian investments
($100.3 million) were targeted for production and distribution of
electric energy, gas, hot water and steam, 27.6% ($52.9 million)
for telecommunication area, 12.2% ($23.3 million) for land transport
and transportations via pipelines.

Russia also invested $7.5 million in metallurgy, $3.3 million in
construction and $1.6 million in financial mediation services less
insurance and pension security.

In Jan-Sept 2010, foreign investments in Armenia’s economy totaled
$472.2 million, of which $348.7 million were direct investments in
the real sector. ($1= AMD 360.06).
