Sachin Pilot: The Ties Existing Between Armenia And India Must Be Tr

SACHIN PILOT: THE TIES EXISTING BETWEEN ARMENIA AND INDIA MUST BE TRANSFERRED TO THE FIELDS OF TRADE
Hasmik Dilanyan

The Indian delegation headed by State Minister for Communications and
Information Technology Sachin Pilot is visiting Armenia to discuss
the ways of further cooperation, particularly in the fields of
pharmaceutics, light industry, information and high technologies.

“The field of information and communication technologies has been
rapidly developing in India in the recent period. As a result, 12
million new jobs have been created. The experience India has gained
can be useful to Armenia. The ties existing between Armenia and
India must be transferred to the fields of trade, ICT and others,”
Sachin Pilot said at a joint press conference with Armenian Minister
of Economy Tigran Davtyan.

He said to be impressed by the initiative of the Armenian government
to build a techno park in Gyumri.

Development of the IT spheres is a priority for the Armenian
Government. According to Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan, “for the
development of the sphere we first of all need a good educational
system to prepare highly skilled specialists.” The Minister also
attached importance to the intensive work with partner countries.

"Chief Of Military Police Is Lying Clinically"

“CHIEF OF MILITARY POLICE IS LYING CLINICALLY”

02:10 pm | Today | Social

After Armenia’s former minister of defense Vladmir Gasparyan was
appointed chief of Armenia’s police, the cooperation between the
Defense Ministry and “We shall not keep silent” youth initiative
aimed at putting an end to the corrupt practices in the Armenian army,
was seriously periled, the initiative group said in a statement.

“After Vladimir Gasparyan was transferred to the police system,
a number of officials at the Ministry began ignoring the group’s
concern, determination and potential. In particular, we learnt that
soldier Hovhannes Yesayan, who called the group’s hotline on Nov. 2to
report on violation in his military unit, was transferred to Yerevan
on Saturday. According to the information obtained, Yesayan was
subjected to torture and forced to withdraw his charges. A number of
news websites responded to the incident later in the day.

At the request of Hovhannes Yesayan, the telephone conversation had
been posted on YouTube ()

On learning about the pressure used against the soldier, the group
representative immediately contacted Chief of the Military Police of
Armenia Aram Ter-Sahakyan and asked him to organize a meeting with
Yesayan. Ter-Sahakyan answered that the solider was at the Ijevan
regional military police department at that moment but in fact
Yesayan had been taken to Yerevan the previous day and was at the
office of Alexan Alexanyan, head of a Ministry of Defense department
at that moment.

Ter-Sahakyan promised to arrange a meeting with Yesayan Õ~[as soon as
he arrived in Yerevan.’ At 5:00 pm. however, Ter-Sahakyan went back
on his promise and sent a group representative to Armen Harutyunyan,
Chief of the Investigation Department at the Ministry of Defense. But
a soldier that responded to a call told the group member to call back
the next Monday.

What was the purpose of the farce as a result of which the group was
deprived of an opportunity to meet the soldier?

Unfortunately, experience shows that Defense Ministry officials do
not intend to carry out reforms. Yesayan’s case is a glaring example
of it. Let no one be surprised if the Ministry states one of these
days the soldier has repudiated his statement.

The group sticks to the opinion that chief of staff of RA Armed
forces Yuri Khachaturov and his subordinates are responsible for the
disgraceful situation in the armed forces. The group continues to
demand his resignation.

It is not the millionaire generals, but our soldiers who fall victim
to this disgraceful situation.

Unfortunately, the number of people that can only sober up by YouTube
footages is increasing as well,” reads the statement.

Zvartnots International Airport Launches New Departure Terminal (Vid

ZVARTNOTS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LAUNCHES NEW DEPARTURE TERMINAL (VIDEO)

Tert.am
07.11.11

Zvartnots International Airport celebrated today the opening of its new
departure terminal, honoring the first passenger with a special prize.

Fenya Yeghiazaryan, who was departing to St Petersburg to attend
the wedding of her friend’s son, was awarded the first passenger
certificate and an opportunity to shop from the duty-free salon for
up to $100. She used her gift to purchase Armenian brandy and sweets
for the hosting family.

The new terminal has a total area of 34,000 sq m and 48 registration
desks (instead of the former 24).

Speaking to Tert.am, Andranik Skhyan, the director of Armenia
International Airports, CJSC said the increased number of desks at
the terminal aims to facilitate registration procedures to prevent
passenger jams.

Last year, the airport served 1,600 passengers. With its new terminal,
it now has the opportunity to serve up to 3.5 million people annually.

“When the passenger flow reaches 3 million. we’ll think of extending
[the area],” Shkhyan said.

The new terminal has an office building and a VIP hall, as well as a
new parking lot with a total area of 20,000 sq. m. Its construction,
which began in October 2008, attracted $160 million investment. The
terminal is equipped with an international security system, an X-ray
check system, central heating and an air-conditioning system.

As Eduardo Ernekyan, the president of Armenia International Airports
corporation told reporters, the old building will reopen as a hotel
in future.

“We have a big variety of ideas. Armenia deserves the best so
we will try our utmost. What has been done will raise Armenia’s
rating, bringing more tourist to the country and creating new job
opportunities,” he said.

Hrazdan Residents Plan Protest Against Iron Mine Exploitation

HRAZDAN RESIDENTS PLAN PROTEST AGAINST IRON MINE EXPLOITATION

epress.am
11.07.2011

A demonstration protesting the exploitation of the Hrazdan iron mine
will take place at 1 pm on Nov. 9 in the Armenian city’s Constitution
Square, Mesrop Mesropyan, one of the organizers of the initiative,
told Epress.am.

Recall, Chinese company Fortune Oil obtained shares in Nagin Company,
which in 2009 submitted the project for the openpit development
of Hrazdan iron mine. Independent experts are of the opinion that
openpit development of Hrazdan and Abovyan mine may lead to Hrazdan
and Yerevan being deprived of drinking water with different water
losses mentioned from 40% to 60%.

Mesropyan stated that there will be speeches during the demonstration
that will explain the damages that mine exploitation might lead to.

“Then a motorcade to the area where drilling has already begun –
to get sample. We will ask those companies carrying out the work
[to provide us with] the appropriate paperwork so that we may know
whether they have a right to carry out that work or not. Also,
we will stage a protest on site and will ask they leave the area,”
said the demonstration organizer.

ANKARA: Not With Sarkozy, Says Minister

NOT WITH SARKOZY, SAYS MINISTER

Hurriyet Daily News
Nov 4 2011
Turkey

Turkey will not choose France as the builder of its second nuclear
plant as long as Nicholas Sarkozy, the prime minister of the European
country, stays in power, according to the Turkish energy minister.

“[Cooperation in the nuclear energy field] with Sarkozy would be
troublesome. We are dealing with a large project that cannot be
detached from international relations. I cannot ignore politics. I
cannot not remain deaf to Sarkozy’s allegations on the so-called
Armenian genocide,” Minister Taner Yıldız said in a recent interview.

“Nuclear relations cannot stand such politics.”

Turkey might also experience friction with France regarding Libya, the
minister said. “We may have troubles in any field where we cooperate
with Sarkozy.”

Yıldız also said Turkey had closed its doors regarding the
transportation of gas from Israel to Europe via Turkey. However,
energy could be used as a unifying tool should Israel apologize for
killing nine Turkish citizens in the Mavi Marmara incident last year,
Yıldız added.
