YEREVAN (YERKIR) – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the
general leader of the ruling AKP Party, said that he will withdraw
from politics if the AKP does not come to single-handed victory in
the upcoming July 22 elections.
Erdogan’s comments on this front came at a campaign rally in Isparta,
when he also issued heavy criticism towards Deniz Baykal, the leader
of the main opposition CHP, and Devlet Bahceli, the leader of the MHP,
Hurriyet newspaper reports.
The decision to hold parliamentary elections July 22 was taken by
President Ahmed Necet Sezer after the Turkish parliament had failed
to elect new President.
