Yerevan, 5 June: "[Armenian President] Robert Kocharyan and [Prime
Minister] Serzh Sargsyan harmed Armenian interests in the Karabakh
conflict settlement more than Azerbaijanis or Turks," Petros Makeyan,
leader of the opposition Impeachment bloc and chairman of the
Democratic Motherland Party, told a news conference today.

He said that Armenia has been sustaining casualties on a daily basis
since Kocharyan came to power in 1998. He said that in order to
keep the liberated territories, including Karabakh, under control,
it is necessary to have a population there. "Every resettlement from
Nagornyy Karabakh to Armenia for permanent residence, something that is
booming under Kocharyan’s rule, is another defeat we suffer," he said.

Another representative of the Impeachment bloc, Mikayel Hayrapetyan,
leader of the Conservative Party of Armenia, said that time is coming
for Kocharyan to fulfil his promises given to the international
community to make concessions on Nagornyy Karabakh. "However, I don’t
think that in his last months in office, Robert Kocharyan will make
such a present to his successor, Serzh Sargsyan, and assume the role
of a traitor," he added.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
