Consumer Prices Rise by 2.1% in Armenia in April 2007 over Dec. 2006

CONSUMER PRICES RISE BY 2.1% IN ARMENIA IN APRIL 2007 ON DECEMBER 2006

YEREVAN, MAY 11, NOYAN TAPAN. The consumer price index made 102.1% in
April 2007 on December 2006, including the consumer price index of food
commodities (including alcoholic drinks and cigarettes) – 103.2%, of
non-food commodities – 99.8%, and the index of service tariffs –
101.3%.

According to the RA National Statistical Service, 0.1% inflation was
registered in the Armenian consumer market in April on March 2007:
prices of food commodities (including alcoholic drinks and cigarettes)
fell by 0.1%, while 0.6% price growth was registered in the non-food
commodity market. Service tariffs rose by 0.1% in the indicated period.

In January-April 2007, the average monthly growth of consumer prices
made 0.5%, which is lower by 0.3 percentage point than the respective
index of the same period of last year (0.8%).

The consumer price index made 104.2% in April 2007 on April 2006,
including the consumer price index of food commodities (including
alcoholic drinks and cigarettes) – 105%, that of non-food commodites –
99.3%, the index of service tariffs – 105.2%; the same indices in
January-April 2007 on January-April 2006 made – 104.7%, 105.8%, 99.5%
and 105.3% respectively.
