Five presidential hopefuls nominated in Nagornyy Karabakh

Stepanakert , 7 May: Nagornyy Karabakh’s central electoral commission
(CEC) has completed the registration of presidential candidates
nominated by initiative groups. Thus, five candidates have been
nominated – the head of the republic’s national security service, Bako
Sahakyan; deputy foreign minister Masis Mayilyan; MP Armen Abgaryan;
Karabakh’s communist party leader Hrant Melkumyan; and teacher from
Artsakh State University, Prof Vanya [Vanik] Avanesyan.
The registration of the actual candidates will take place from 30 May
to 19 June – within this period the CEC will study the candidates’
documents and make a relevant decision.
