YEREVAN, August 23. /ARKA/. The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)
does not intend to nominate its candidate for the post of Vice-Speaker
of the Armenian Parliament, RPA Vice-chairman Tigran Torosyan told
a press conference.
“The RPA will discuss this issue. But the faction is unlikely to
nominate its candidate for the post of Vice-Speaker of the Parliament,”
Torosyan said. The post of one of the two Vice-Speakers became vacant
after Tigran Torosyan was elected Speaker of the Armenian Parliament
on June 1, 2006. He replaced Artur Baghdasaryan, who resigned on
May 22, his party, “Law-Governed Country”, having seceded from the
ruling coalition.
The ruling coalition of Armenia was formed in May 2003 by the
“Law-Governed Country” party, RPA and “Dashnaktsutyun” as a result
of parliamentary elections.
