COP17 President and Armenia’s Minister of Environment, Hambardzum Matevosyan, held a bilateral meeting with India’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav.
The ministers discussed opportunities to strengthen environmental cooperation, exchange expertise, and implement joint initiatives.
The meeting also addressed cooperation within the COP17 ministerial negotiations and international efforts to conserve biodiversity.
Particular attention was given to cooperation through the International Big Cat Alliance, including joint efforts to protect threatened species and their habitats. For Armenia, this is especially relevant to its priority of conserving the leopard and restoring its population.
