The Investigative Committee of Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation into criminal proceedings involving a parliamentary candidate from the Armenia alliance and the head of one of the alliance’s campaign offices.

The Investigative Committee announced the development in a statement.

“During the preliminary investigation conducted by the Department for the Investigation of Crimes Against the Person of the Main Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, apparent factual data were obtained indicating that, during April and May 2026, H.D., who had been nominated as a parliamentary candidate by the Armenia alliance, and H.S., the head of one of the alliance’s campaign offices, offered S.M. a financial incentive to attend the alliance’s campaign rallies by promising, under the guise of employment, to pay him 150,000 drams,” the statement said.

During the preliminary investigation, the supervising prosecutor decided to initiate public criminal prosecution against H.S. and H.D. under Article 236, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (providing a financial incentive to participate in a rally).

The criminal case has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor together with the indictment.
