The first court hearing in the case of the attack against the Armenian Saint Karapet cemetery in Istanbul was scheduled for August 20.
As reported by Armenian Akos in Istanbul, 55-year-old Muharem Kyun, the only accused in the case, admitted his guilt and stated that he regrets the act. He claimed that he acted independently and was not directed by anyone.
It should be noted that on the night of July 7 of this year, the person or persons who entered the Armenian St. Karapet Church in Istanbul broke 6 tombstones and one memorial fountain.
A criminal case was initiated based on the complaint of the Armenian community.
