From the beginning, it was clear that the participation of Armenian athletes in the ongoing Greco-Roman wrestling championship in Baku could not proceed under normal conditions.
However, I want to focus on other factors here.
The whistles and shouts that were heard during the awarding of our wrestler Janes Nazaryan were perhaps expected, but they remind us of other circumstances.
In Azerbaijan, Armenian hatred and hostility towards the Armenian people are institutionalized, and by the way, in the conditions of relative stability, Baku has not retreated in this matter either.
Secondly, it is clear, isn’t it, that under the conditions of the Azerbaijani dictatorship, if there was a desire, the hooliganism heard from the hall would be prevented, but the Azerbaijani small-mindedness works even there.
I express my support to our athletes, knowing full well what it means to be in a hostile Azerbaijan, to go to the arena and win in that atmosphere.
