Reception at the French Embassy in Yerevan, organized on the occasion of Bastille Day, turned into mass poisoning for the guests who visited it.

According to the TASS news agency, this fact was confirmed by the press service of the French diplomatic mission. They recalled that the reception was held on July 14, and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan was among the guests.

It is impossible to understand from the statement whether he was among the victims of poisoning. The embassy says that several people were injured.

“The guests who attended the reception at the French Embassy on the occasion of the National Day on July 14, 2026, reported symptoms of food poisoning,” the press service said in a statement.

The French Embassy offered its sincere apologies to the people who “could have been inconvenienced.” Diplomats expressed hope “to establish the causes of these symptoms.”

The reaction of the French followed after the Armenian media reported that a number of people who attended the reception at the embassy turned to medical institutions in Yerevan with signs of food poisoning. There is no information about the number of victims.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the French special services helped to suppress publications critical of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan before the parliamentary elections in the republic.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
