Iran continues to export oil despite the reimposition of US sanctions

Despite the cancellation of the main license granted by the US Treasury Department in June and easing the sanctions against the Iranian oil sector, Tehran continues the process of exporting oil. This was announced by the Oil Minister of the Islamic Republic, Mohsen Paknezhad.

“For many years, the Ministry of Oil has been building the necessary mechanisms that allow us to neutralize the consequences of unfair American sanctions. Since the mechanisms designed to ensure the uninterrupted export of oil have been preserved, the export of Iranian oil continues under the previous regime,” he was quoted as saying by the ministry’s press service.

Paknejad noted that Tehran has not abandoned all previously developed mechanisms, because it expects that Washington will not keep its promise.

On July 7, the US Treasury canceled the main license granted in June, which eased US sanctions on Iran’s oil sector until August 21, and banned new operations in this sector.
