U.S. President Donald Trump has said the United States would launch strikes against Iran if Tehran were to assassinate him or attempt to do so.
Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform.
“One thousand missiles are ready and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote, adding that thousands more could follow if the Iranian government acted on its alleged threat and attempted to kill the sitting U.S. president.
Trump said the relevant orders had already been issued and that the U.S. armed forces were ready, willing and able to act. He added that the orders had been issued for a period of one year, with the possibility of an extension.
