Armenia, U.S. discuss cooperation on rare earths and critical minerals

Armenian Ambassador to the U.S. Narek Mkrtchyan met with William Cunningham, Director of the International Programs Office of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

According to the embassy’s readout, the meeting focused on the United States’ experience in establishing its geological survey and explored potential areas of cooperation based on that experience.

The parties also discussed opportunities to expand Armenia–U.S. cooperation in the field of critical minerals and rare earths. 

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Charter signed in May, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding titled “Framework for Securing Supply in the Mining and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earths.”
