The 9,000 square meter land area of ​​the Victory Park will be returned to the people of Yerevan

Around 9,000 square meters of Yerevan Victory Park will serve the public again. The municipality is taking steps to return land from the private sector to the community and modernize one of the capital’s main recreation areas.

At the June 29 meeting of the Yerevan Municipality, it became known that it is about two adjacent plots belonging to the same company, writes CivilNet. As a result of negotiations, the owner of the 6900 square meter area located at Babayan 1/1 agreed to hand it over to the city free of charge.

At the same time, for another part of about 2000 square meters, which does not have legal restrictions on development, the city authorities have proposed an exchange with another plot of land in order to exclude inconsistent construction in the park area.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that the public interest definitely prevails over the private one, adding that the development of the community cannot be subordinated to the problematic contracts signed decades ago.

The reconstruction of the entertainment section of the park was also discussed during the session.
